Rating: Summary: The Best Book EVER Review: This IS the BEST book ever! Our teacher made us do battle of the books. She started to read us a little bit and everyone LOVED it! Every teenager NEEDS to read this book. One of my friends had this book out on the bus and asked if it was good. I said yes! I started to explain the book and the girl who I was sharing the seat w/ agreed. Then the 2 people behind us and the 2 people across from then said so too. By then the whole bus agreed, and I mean the WHOLE bus! I know people who hate to read(like me),and think that books are stupid, but all of those people LOVED this book! You HAVE TO read this book it is amazing!
Rating: Summary: Romiette and Julio Review: This novel has interested many young teenagers that have been fallen in love. It has led many couples to understand the real meaning of a true relationship within this novel.
At this novel, a beautiful African American teenager falls in love with a guy who is Hispanic American; he is new to this country. After a certain time they both fall in love with each other. In deed they run through many obstacles in order to be together. This novel has many aspects that many teenagers might enjoy reading when they are falling in love. It also gives you certain tips on girls/ guys. This novel is thick it has about 300 pages. However, it is very good because a teenager can find some aspects of their life with in the novel. He or she can make connections with his or her life.
All the aspects that happen throughout this novel are interesting because you get to understand things that happen within a relationship of couples. I liked this book and if i had to rate it from a scale of 1-10 I will scale it a 10. The reason is because it has to do with a topic that every teenager goes through in his or her everyday life. I would recommend this novel for the ages of 12-17.
Rating: Summary: Romiette and Julio Review: This realistic fiction book is about romance. The book is about a girl named Romiette Cappele and Julio Montague. Romiette is African-American and Julio is Hispanic. Julio meets Romiette in a chat room on the internet, and they both realize that they go to the same school, and are both sixteen. And if you think to yourself-"Hey! This book sounds a lot like the Romio and Juliette play that Shakespeare wrote!" Then you're right! when they meet in person at school, they start spending more time with each other, and fall in love. But, when they hang out with each other during school, they start getting harassed by a gang that is known to be tough because of their different skin colors. The gang starts threatening them, but they come up with a gusty plan to out do them. This is a hard book to put down, I was so interested in it because the author would just keep the action coming, and in some books to me the author just puts words down on the paper to use space. But this book didn't feel like this to me. this book is recommended for Middle School and up. I give this book five starts! -Holland Talbott
Rating: Summary: The Best Version of Romeo and Juliet I Have Read!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Though this story is more like West Side Story than the original Romeo and Juliet (because of gangs and the racial differences), it is still really really REALLY GOOD!!!Summary: Romiette is a young African-American girl and Julio is Spanish and new in town. When the two meet in an on-line chat room, they are surprised to learn that they go to the same school and live in the same town. When they meet in person, they start to fall in love. However, a group called the Family does not like their mixed heritage romamce. When they start to threaten the couple, Romiette, Julio, and their friends come up with a plan to expose the threats. But when something goes terribly wrong, Julio and Romiette are suddenly missing. Will the couple be able to get out of danger or will they face the same fate as Shakespeare's young tragic couple? I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! It was one of the best romances ever and, because it ties in with the famous love story, the end could go either way. Im not going to give it away but this book had an awesome ending. I loved the spanish that Julio sometimes used, and I love how there were some chapters written from Romiette's journal, a chat room, and a news broadcast. Get this book or you will regret it for the rest of your life!
Rating: Summary: No-Thank You, something with some depth please Review: to explain my situation a bit, im an 18 yr old female, who has been an avid reader of all sorts of books for as long as i can remeber. i still kick back with little kid books sometimes, when i feel like it. i still read books from my pre-teens, early teens, and i peruse every shelf of the library. with that said. i hate this book.
i also hate slang. which they use quite frequently, i guess to make the people in the book sound real. but they only sound annoying. everyones stereo-typical. [...] fun loving freak, etc... the slang makes me grit my teeth and the obviousness of the polt line, the lack of depth, and the random quick happenings annoy me. there is nothing gradual. its one minute they just met, that night they are practically in love. the author took all the meaning out of shakespeare and made his classic tragedy a cheap teen novel...in my opinion. youre free to make your own.
though who knows, if i wasnt such a dork ;) and didnt spend all my time reading, i may think this book was a gem. all i do know is that if i werent reading this book for a reading competition, i would have quit after the first chapter. and then burned it.
Rating: Summary: Star Crossed Lovers Review: When I picked it off the self from the library I was just looking for something to read over the summer. I found a book that will open your eyes on what's going on around the world. These things happen everyday and sometimes like in the book you don't even know it's going on. I really like this book, especially the two main characters they seem real and funny and so in love especially when they stand up to The Devildogs. It's a good spin into a modern day Romeo and Juliet =o)
