Summary: Better even than Harry Potter!!
Review: Sabriel was possibly the best book that I have ever read. I could not put it down and had to reread it within a day and a half. It is possible that Sabriel could even best the beloved Harry Potter books of which I am an enormous fan. This book, Sabriel, by Garth Nix is a must read for all you fans of Fantasy. I could say that it has had a profound impact on my life and I think that it will touch yours in the same way. I laughed, cried, got embarrassed, and exuberent, and fearful along with Sabriel and her father. I was almost IN the book along with the characters and MY parents were quite put out that I was paying no attention what-so-ever to their conversations while this book was in my hands. I would stay up until 4 in the morning just to finish another chapter and then not be able to put it down the rest of the night. I would SO recommend SABRIEL by GARTH NIX to anyone and everyone. This is possibly the best book I have ever read and I must go and read it again to determine if Sabriel is THE BEST. This is the highest recommendation I can give Sabriel and if I could give it 4 million stars, I would in a heartbeat. Sabriel is a must read!!!!

The characters are remarkable and brilliantly come to life. In this book, Garth Nix writes about mind boggling theries on life and death. The book gets better as you go along. Subsequently, if you don't understand the begining, you soon will. If you think you will like Sabriel, you may want to try the series Fearless for a more interesting read. A younger reader may enjoy Harry Potter. Also, The Outsiders is a shorter but wonderful book.

Summary: A Dark Fantasy With Magic, Secrets, and Twists
Review: As most reviewers may have already said, this book is amazing. It is chock-full of action and adventure with a surprising yet satisfying ending. Sabriel is the main charcter of the book. She is 18 years old and goes to school at Wyverley College, which is in another world. In this other world, the landscape is divided by a gigantic wall, known as (none other than) the Wall. The modern world, where Sabriel is growing up is called Ancelstierre. Ancelstierre is much like our own world. Meanwhile, beyond the wall, is the Old Kingdom, the place full of magic and unfortunately, the dead who crossed over. When Sabriel's father, who happens to be an Abhorsen (one who puts the dead to rest), the opposite of a necromancer (one who raises the dead)doesn't visit Sabriel at his usual time, things start to get fishy. Throughout the book, there are twists and turns in the plot and you get to meet fascinating characters called Mogget and Touchstone. I deeply recommend this book. Also read Lirael, the sequel to Sabriel!

Summary: SABRIEL ~ An Incredible Novel!
Review: SABRIEL was an absolutely incredible story. I was looking for something to satisfy my Harry Potter craving for a while, lol, and I thought that it looked interesting. After about the first 20 pages or so, however, I couldn't put it down! :0) (Which was bad, because I had a looooot of homework to do.)

Anyway, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy, romance, or mystery, because it will satisfy all your cravings! :0)

Review: I think Sabriel is a magnificent book! It deals with Necromancers and the chilling dead. Sabriel is the daughter of a necromancer who lays people to rest after they die. Everything seems well, until her father goes missing, and she has to take up his role while trying to find him.She goes through many adventures, from running away from the evil dead, to finding a passion between her and a man.

Summary: 2 good 4 words - who likes Harry Potter anyway?
Review: Don't be misled by my title - I am an avid Harry Potter fan. But for crying out loud, why does IT get all the attenton when absolute JEWELS like "Sabriel" are around?

This book is AMAZING. As 170odd people have said already it's about a 18-year-old girl named Sabriel who has to destroy Kerrigor and free her father, the Abhorsen - except it might be HER turn to be Abhorsen!

Reading past reviews people say that she's a very typical teenage girl, and I agree. She is normal (as it goes) enough to symphathize with but weilds EXTRAORDINARY power. PS The charter mark-stuff is AWESOME! I wish Nix had explained that in greater detail.

So this book is a must-read for all you fantasy people out there. Others like it are His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman), any thing by Tamora Pierce, and of course MY books when they come out, which I HOPE is soon. Also, duxrox.

Summary: Could Be a Classic
Review: Sabriel by Garth Nix is a fantastic fantasy novel for young adult readers and older. It is possible that this novel could be around for a while. The novel follows in the tradition of Robin McKinley's The Hero and the Crown in that it is a great fantasy novel with a female hero. The plot sounds like a pretty-regular fantasy as Sabriel has to fight the dead, but the story is totally original. Nix fabricates a new and interesting world in the Old Kingdom. The hero who fights with bells is brilliant, too. Nix has a wonderful imagination to have thought up his concepts of free magic and the world of the dead. I loved the characters, too. Moggett was fascinating to me. I also liked Touchstone and Abhorsen. Sabriel, of course, is the best character. Nix carries off her devopment into the Abhorsen well. Overall, this is a great book for fantasy lovers. People who liked "The Golden Compass" should read this (I liked Sabriel better). Lovers of this novel should also go back and read all of the Lloyd Alexander novels (which are better that Sabriel).

Summary: Incredible story!
Review: I thought this book was incredible; I ripped through it in three days (hey, that's around school and school work). It's 500 pages are nothing compared to amount in the Sword of Truth series (700 pages averege), though =).

I'm not sure how to describe the book; for I am not an expert book reviewer; but I would say that anyone who likes the Lord of the Rings series will love this (any fantasy lover really)

Review: This book is amazing. I read this when I was 11, and although it took me a while, it was worth it. Don't let its size scare you off if you're not a big reader (or if you've never read a book that's about 500 pages), the pages turn quite quickly. I read the first 200 over a good block of time, but the remainder was read in a day. If you're a fan of fantasy stories that deal with necromancy, demons, and magic, this book is for you. If you've played games like the Final Fantasies or Diablo, you may like this tale, too. This book is probably suitable to those 10+, although at 10 it might be a little hard (not that the writing was difficult to understand). One final note. This story mixes necromancy and magic with guns and 20th century warfare. Plot(super-condensed): Sabriel, an Abhorsen (necromancer), is on a journey to find her father (the previous Abhorsen- its inherited) and to fulfill her destiny by saving the world from a demon. By her side is the mysterious cat-figure, Mogget, and Touchstone, a man who...well I don't want to ruin the story...
