Summary: Excellent story for Elementary Ages --- Don't spoil the plot
Review: By not reading the back cover and spoiling the plot, my children and I spent an engrossing evening learning about history, motives and schemes gone to bad ends. This book is also insightful for examining parenting skills. A thought provoking story with some action and mystery.

Summary: A Captivating Story For All Ages
Review: Unlike this author's other books, this book is not violent or unnecessarily drastic. It is, instead, an original story which somehow seems possible, and I was moved throughout. The title and cover nearly stopped me from reading it (it sounded pretty idiotic), but it became a whole new world in my imagination, and I was enjoyed it throughly. I am fourteen years old, and I read this book, so don't let the age group throw you off. Please take time to read this.

Review: Running Out of Time is a thrilling novel. I love the way Margaret Peterson Haddix describes a twist in this young girl's life. The chalenges she face are extrodinary. The captivation of this young girl's life is brilliant. The ending was very satisfying. Nothing more could be asked of it

Summary: This is one of the best books I've read!
Review: With all of the carbon-copy junk novels out there
today I find it wonderful to find a book that has
a unique plot that twists like a vine.
13 year old Jessie lives in a small Indiana
town in 1840, or so she thinks. When a
diphtheria epidemic breaks out among the
children she suddenly finds out the truth,
it's 1996. For years her family has been
living in a "pretend" world where it's still the
1800's. Jessie suddenly finds herself lost in
an entirely different century where there is a
cure for diphtheria. She must find that cure
and alert the world of the injustice that is
going on where she comes from. This is a
wonderful book that will keep you captivated from
beginning to end!

Summary: my all time favourite book!!!
Review: Running out of time was the most interesting, fabulous and provocative I have ever read. The book is about a girl called Jessie who lives in a 1940's village, she escapes to save her friends and family and bring them to the year 2000. She has to go through a lot of personal chllenges.

This could be a great book for any type of reader (even those who do not like reading).

If you have read Among the hidden, you will love this book even more.

Summary: 1840-1996 in 5 Minutes
Review: Running Out of Time by: Margaret Peterson Haddix
Only you can save us now... Jessie Keyser lives in the "authentic historical preserve" of Clifton Village. That means that she thinks it is still 1840. Part of the promise to the citizens of Clifton is that they will get modern health care, food during famine, and that every child will get to know the truth by the time they are 12. Jessie is 13 and she still doesn't know the truth but all that is about to change.
When a diphtheria epidemic spreads over Clifton, Jessie must get help from the outside world. She must deal with the unknown and escape the unimaginable. This is a story of adventure, conflicts, and resolutions. A tale of cliff hanging chapters.
I would recommend this book to grades 5-7. A younger child may not understand some of the complicated details. I enjoyed this book for the most part, but I found some of the plot hard to follow and some details a little bit unrealistic. It wasn't great literature, but it sure held your attention. If you like books packed with action, and not much depth this is good for you.

Summary: Running out of time by Margerret Haddix
Review: Chris Henderson Period ¾
4/29/02 Book Review

If you thoroughly enjoy fictional-historic novels, then this book is for you. The book, Running Out of Time by Margaret Haddix immerses you into a thrilling blender of a modern and climatic battle of good vs. evil. The book takes place in the quant pioneer town of Clifton. Although the book is very historically correct, the book is hard to believe. The town that Jessie, the main character lives in, is not actually a pioneer town. In fact, it is a genetic research center, using the inhabitants as guinea pigs to create a super human that is invincible to all diseases.
I would suggest the book to maybe a 6th or 7th grade student, because of the plot of the story. I also think that this would be a good choice for this age group because of the history behind the book. The book is a quick read, only being 187 pages.
Overall, I think that this a very good book. It exemplifies the time of the pioneers and how they did not have the things that we find necessities today. I also think that this book would be great to tie in with a curriculum in the mid 1800's. The grade I would most likely give this book is 7 out of 10 points. I liked the plot, but I just think the book needed more content.

Summary: Book Report Activity Review
Review: Running Out Of Time is a great book. It will keep you reading all day and night! You won't want to put it down! I would definatly recommend this book to someone else. This book is very interesting and is worth reading. It would be very interesting to find out what it is like to live in the 1800's. But I don't think what happens in the book should have happened. People should always have medicine even if it is in the 1800's! Wow! I enjoyed this book sooo much I did not want to put it down! I read this book in about 2 days! This book is full of surprises and will keep u wanting to read on and on!! Even at the end I didn't want it to be over I wanted to keep reading. In conclusion I think that you would love this book no matter what age you are, and you should go out and buy this book today!!!!!
