Rating: Summary: READ THIS!!!!!!! Review: Even though this book is recommended for kids 9-12, it is still perfectly good for anyone else!!! It was recommended to me by a girl that I baby-sit for. This book is a must read!! I have two favorite books, this and another one called Someone Was Watching, if you liked Running Out Of Time I can almost garuntee that you will like the other!!! One thing that I can say for sure is that Margaret Haddix made no mistake when writing this book!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A nice 1800's 1990's twist! Review: We read this book in fifth grade and I loved it. When I bought for myself I loved it even more. Jesse was a brave charachter, for what she had to do she needed to be brave.
Rating: Summary: Great Idea for a book Review: I saw this and I just HAD to buy it. What a great twist on the 20th Century kid goes back to a historic event type of book. I did think that a little of the crisis was too contrived in order to get the plot moving. I'll chalk this up to it's being a first novel. That said I enjoyed the book a great deal.
Rating: Summary: I thought the book was excellent! Review: The book was very, very, good. It had my attention throughout the book and kept me going. And i am usally not a big reader but as soon as i started to read this it took my breath away, How everything turned out. I encourage everyone who is into Adventure and Drama to read this book!
Rating: Summary: It was a good attention grabber, I could hardly put it down Review: Running out of Time was about a village called Clifton. the families were trapped in the 1840's. the children got diphtheria and there wasn't the right medicine to take care of the sick children. The adults knew it wasn't really 1840, but the children didn't . Jessie, (the main character),was umong the children who didn't know what the real year was. her mother needed help , so she told Jessie that it was really 1996 , and she had to go for help.she went to find Mr. Neely for help , but he turned out to be a bad guy and try to kill her. She got away from him and got help , but she got sick so, she had to go to the hospital. All of the children in Clifton had to go to the hospital also. The children were all amazed at what was in the world outside of Clifton. Jessie and her family were able to go back to there home after a couple of weeks in the hospital.Jessie was happy to help her family and friends.
Rating: Summary: Good read; frightening and exhilirating. Review: I purchased this book for my nine year old daughter and found it very exciting and scary; I actually had to put it down the first night (it spooked me that much). Jessie's experience of 1996 is well written and kept me on the edge of my seat. I think I'll wait until my daughter is eleven or twelve before introducing her to this book.
Rating: Summary: My absolute favorite! Review: I loved Running Out of Time! Margaret Peterson Haddix Made Jesse's exposiure and confusion in the modern world so belivebly. I think it dserves th 1995 Newbery award more than Walk Two Moons!
Rating: Summary: A night to a different Centrey, that could change everything Review: I thought the book was eye catching. It would be fringhting for me to go to another centrey without knowing what everything is. It was so brave of her to call a news conferance, in a world she was not at all familer. It would of been five star book if she had not asked all those questions. Some things in life you don't have to know how everything works. Sometimes you just have to not ask questions like why, because you can't understand everything. I think it was unlawful for them to let the weekest die first. I had no idea she was young enough to catch diptheria. I liked how she got to spend one last day in 1840's before she would live in 1996. Just like when you move you want to caputure the place in your mind before you leave. The question I have is why would they not let the parents she them?
Rating: Summary: Time Transition? Review: I couldn't tell the difference between the 1800s and 1900s unless the author spelled it out for us. The languages between the two centuries were the same, the same way of speech, manners, posture, movement, ideas, et cetera. If you're going to write about time transition, do it right. I thought the cover art was nice though.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Book! I LOVE this book you have gotta read it! Review: This is my favorite book! I love the was Haddix thought up the story of a young girl who thinks she lives peacefully in Clifton Village. Really ever monemt of her life she has been whached. Clifton Village is a touriest site. I love the plot of finding Mr. Nelly and how saving Clifton and all the people in it all lies on Jessie's shoulders. I feel like I'm with Jessie helping her overcome her fears and help all the people in Clifton.
