Rating: Summary: Overall Good Book Review: Have you ever had a crisis so bad that you needed to go into another time to fix it? Well, Running Out ofTime will take you on that journey. The book is written by Margaret Haddix. It is about a girl named Jessie who believes it is 1840.Then she is told that her village is fake and then she has to go into the real world of 1996 to save the children from a deadly disease named diphtheria. Throughtout the story Jessie goes through struggles with whom to trust and how to get help. Will she get the disease and die or save the village and live happly ever after? People who hate fiction should stay away from this book. The unrealistic twists like how she justs calls a new team and how they help her might annoy someone who hates paying attentionto what they are reading. Also the end might be irritating because of the authors constant need to answer every little question and leave you with nothing to think about. Overall the book was good and if you like science fiction, read it.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING-ATROCIOUS IN ONE CHAPTER Review: What if lives depended on you? Jessie Keyser knows how that feels. In the year 1840 Jessie's home of Clifton is threatened by diphtheria. When Jessie is sent on a dangerous mission, all her thoughts of what is safe change. Running Out of Time is a great book with a dull ending. Margaret Peterson Haddix keeps the plot fresh with new conflicts throughout the book. At the end though, the last conflict is resolved, but the story drones on for another two chapters. I recommend this book to 4th, and 5th graders who don't like any conflicts left unsolved. If you like books with an open ending, I don't recommend Running Out of Time to you.
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Time by Reading Running Out of Time Review: Running Out of Time is a fictional story about a young girl, 13 years old, and her name is Jessie. She lives in a small town in Indiana called Clifton, where it's 1840, and in the outside world it is 1996. In her little town there is a dangerous disease called diphtheria, and the doctor is not allowed to use modern medicine. Jessie has to escape Clifton and go forty miles to the state capitol, Indianapolis. She has to find a doctor by the name of Mr. Neeley and get medicine before time runs out for her friends and family. I didn't really like Running Out of Time because it was too predictable, and I didn't like the ending at all. It needs a sequel, but with this book there isn't a sequel yet. Margaret Peterson Haddix writes in third person, that means the narrator tells the story. I would recommend this book to a child 10 or 11 years old because it's not too long. It's only 184 pages.
Rating: Summary: Will Haddix write a Sequel? Review: This exciting book is about a girl named Jessie who thought she was living in the 1840's, but she really lived in a historical preserve. Outside it was 1996. Jessie was sent to the real world by her, mom to get medicine for the sick children with diphtheria. Everything was new to her like the cars and light bulbs and she had lots of questions. I like the way the author wrote in third person and the details. It also had a very interesting plot and I could not put the book down. I was disappointed about the ending because it really confused me.
Rating: Summary: Will Jessie Run Out of Time? Review: Jessie Keyser lives in the historical preserve in Clifton, Indiana where it is 1840. When Jessie's friends and siblings catch diphtheria, her mom sends her on a dangerous mission to save her friends and siblings. Her mission is to leave Clifton where it is 1996 and get modern medicine. She also must go through the guards that are trying to keep her inside Clifton. I liked the book a lot. The book was very intriguing. If you like time travel, you would probably like Running Out of Time. At the end, the book slows down just a little bit. I think that most people would like to read Running Out of Time. It was very hard to put the book down. If you read the book, I hope you enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Is Running Out of Time Wasting Your Time? Review: Jessie is a girl who thinks she is living in the 1800's, but she really is in the year 1996. Jessie lives in the little village of Clifton, and in Clifton there are children who have diphtheria. She needs to go out to the real world to find a man named Mr. Neeley who has the cure for the sick children. When Jessie takes a walk in the real world, she finds things are a lot different than she thought. It's Jessie's job to save the children in Clifton. Will Jessie find Mr. Neeley in time and save the sick children or will she run out of time? I thought Running Out of Time was a good book but not the best book I have read. I would recommend this book more to girls than boys. It would be a good book for grades 4-6. When you read this book, I'm sure you'll like it!
Rating: Summary: Will Running Out Of Time Waste Your Time? Review: Running Out Of Time is about a girl named Jessie Keyser. Jessie thinks that she is living in 1840, but outside of Clifton Village, it is 1996. Soon, kids in the village catch diphtheria, an illness for which there is no cure . Jessie sets out to find somebody who will help the children fight diphtheria. She finds the outside world very confusing. There is running water, telephones, and light bulbs, things Jessie is not used to. Jessie soon finds her own life in jeopardy. I recommend this book for children who like adventure. This book was interesting because of how things came to together at the end. The different time periods made this book unique. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you want to keep reading. I hope you enjoy the book as much a I did.
Rating: Summary: Will Running Out of Time Waste your Time? Review: Jessie is a young girl who lives in Clifton, a small town during the mid 1800's. When the children in Clifton get sick and start dying, Jessie's mother sends her on a perilous journey out into the world. The world outside Clifton is definitely not what she thought it would be. Jessie is living in a tourist site in 1996, and she has to learn to adapt to the outside world. Running Out of Time is a good book. It's especially good if you enjoy cliff hangers. I would recommend this book to children ages nine to twelve. Girls will probably find this book more interesting than boys because the main character is a girl. I hope you appreciate this book as much as I did
Rating: Summary: Running Out of Time, Indeed... Review: Take a topic, any topic. Toothpaste. You can have moderate fun with toothpaste. Now let's take the novel "Running Out of Time". I would compare this book to eating feces. It isn't pleasent and moves slow. You watch as a girl, in a small facility, decides to step 3 feet from her house. She discovers a wall and learns she's part of an experiment. Seriously, she lives in a really small gymnasium and couldn't figure that out till' she was a teenager. She basically needs a cure for her friends and sick "1840" citizens. They won't introduce any medicine because it could destroy the "experiment". The experiment is to see if some people can live in 1840 or something. It's stupid because the year is like 2000, and they are pondering if man-kind could live in the 1840's. They could, because mankind is still here in year 2000. The whole book is boring because basically the premise for the book is boring. Capital B boring. No entertainment, just words. It's lifeless and I really disliked reading it. 1 star. Kinda hated it.
Rating: Summary: Jordyn ... Review: This book is about a 13 year old girl named Jessie, who lives in the town of Clifton. See Jessie thinks that it is 1840 when her mother reveals a shocking truth, it is actually 1996, and children in Clifton are dying from Diptheria, and they need modern medicine, which Jessie's mother wants her to get from the modern version of America. Jessie finds herself stuck in a world of horror when she finds out, not only is it 156 years later than she thought it was,but then she finds out, that her town is being watched 24/7 by tourists , because there are cameras hidden EVERYWHERE in Clifton. Jessie confronts odd things, that even she never would have dreamed of. Jessie finds out what a car, television, computer etc. is. It shocks this 13 year old girl to see what everyone in Clifton has been missing out on.Jessie has to find a telephone, and call a doctor who protested the idea of actors, and actresses living in a false 1840 colony. Jessie actually has to travel several hundred miles to find her source of hope. Jessie finally finds the doctor, and saves Clifton. I loved this book, it was great.
