Rating: Summary: Interesting Review: Chris Crutcher's book Running Loose was a very good book with very true to life characters. Louie, who's main goals in life are to be a good football player and get a girl, faces many challenges that teens today are faced with. Crutcher grabs the real essence of teens and shows them to us with unadulterated skill. Looking at the plot in this book, a bad call by a good coach, it causes me to look back at my school time (going to a small school like Louis)and realizing that this could have really happened anywhere and probably does to some extent. I am heartened to read about an untypical hero who stands up to fight in the face of adversity.Crutcher is one for the record books.
Rating: Summary: Running Loose Review: I am not a football fan. In fact, I know little about football. That was my first impression of this book. I thought to myself "God, another book I have to read which I know absolutely nothing about!". I figured that the book would be dull and boring, and not the right thing for my taste. But as I read along, there was plenty more than football, there was love, pride, and grief. Louie is a football player who has everything going for him, he has a girl friend called Becky which he cares a lot about; good parents; great friends, who are there in times when he needs them; and a starting position. Everything was going right. Until a football game was scammed by the coach of his team, and he couldn't stand by it. He quit the team, and everything seems to change, but just when he thought things were brightening up, tragedy strikes 10 times harder. Louie has to be strong, and live by his loss. And the stronger he gets the more mature he is. Running Loose is a book not only for sports fans, but also for people who can't or don't play any sports, it will appeal to anyone, and everyone who reads it.
Rating: Summary: GREAT. very compelling and enjoyable Review: I enjoyed this book greatly. It was both said and uplifting. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to read a great book.
Rating: Summary: A good teenager's life story.. Review: I thought that this book Running Loose by Chris Crutcher was really good, it started off slow so you didn't really get right into it, but as you kept reading it got better. I thought that it is a good book for teenagers to read because they can relate to the situations that these kids in the book get into. Even if you aren't in the situations you see them happening all the time. I wouldn't recommend this book for kids very young, or older people, it seems to me as a book mainly targeted for middle aged readers. Many kids think that if one big thing goes wrong then the rest of there life is over, and just get so caught up in that, but you shouldn't let it get to you. I thought that Crutcher got into good details to make it feel like you were right there with them, as if you were there friend. That is why it made it better and more exciting to read as it went on. I think that it is good that Louie stood up for himself, and that shows that it is ok to speak your own opinion, and you don't have to back down if you think your opinion is right. This book really grabs the details in life as of how teenagers react so much to little things. That is another reason that it is good for teenagers to read because they can understand to what Crutcher is talking about, easier than others can. With Louie looking Becky in a tragic accident also relates to teenage life, because there are quite a few instances where teenagers are killed. It affects so many people around, and really affects the people closest to them, and this book really shows how that works. So, all and all I thought that this was a good book, and really can teach some things about teenager's life.
Rating: Summary: sms student Review: In the book "Running Loose", a high school boy made a stupid decision that could have messed up the rest of his senior year. Fortunately, he found a sport that helped him to clear his mind. This sport turned out to be the best thing for him. Overall, I thought this book was pretty good. The only thing that concerned me was that the author, Chris Crutcher, didn't quite make it clear who all of the characters were. This book might be just a little mature for sixth and seventh graders. This isn't such a great book for elementary students. I also thought this book had some really funny parts in it. Out of five stars, I would rate this book a 4.

Rating: Summary: Running Loose Review: In this book I am going to talk about a non-fiction book called Running Loose. This book is caring, kind, sadness, and loving review. Louie was the starting spot on the football team, the famous football player. He has a beautiful girlfriend, Becky. He has great friends from his school. Then Becky got killed in a motorcycle accident. Louie kept thinking about her and he gets very disappointed! Louie stopped going to school and missed a lot of football practices. He is not the starting spot on the football team anymore. All of his good friends, also his fans boo at him. This is a great book; it is kind of misunderstanding about the relationships. It is very interesting. Louie starts out good in the beginning, but terrible in the middle of the story, but Louie went good in the end of the story.
Rating: Summary: A+ on the Report and "two thumbs up" Review: Louie dedicated his entire summer to two-a-days and wind sprints. Now, his football career has ended, he's been restricted from any extracurricular activities (or so they claim), and he's generally in a downward spiral... But Louie has Becky, the girl of his dreams. She, his parents (Brenda and Norm), and his best friend Carter all support him and his choices. Then, in a fatal accident, everything changes. Who can Louie turn to? Who cares about him? And is he alone? Help comes from surprising places and he finds refuge in running. Louie is able to turn his life back around and continue. The same guy he sacrificed his football career to is now his opponent in a two mile leg. Can he pull it off and prove his worth? How much can you learn about yourself and life in just one year? Louie can tell you.
Rating: Summary: Running Loose Review: Louie seems to have the world at his finger tips when his life suddenly changes. His fall from the varsity football team is as sudden as the death of his girlfriend. Dealing with life's difficulties with honor even when others over him don't is a major lesson of this book. Strong supporting characters help Louie deal with the "bad" situations life brings for no apparent reason. His parents are seen as strong characters. I recommend this book for students in grades 9-12. It teaches some strong lessons about standing up for what is right without being preachy.....
