Summary: Sad, but not convincing
Review: This story is about how a young man's life is changed by his reluctant close-encounter with the class oddball who happens to be Southern Baptist girl.

I'd sure like to know where Nicholas Sparks got his information on how a Southern Baptist thinks and lives. The story would have been better if it weren't for some glaring inconsistencies with the Baptist theology and mindset.

First of all, the narrator tells us the Baptist minister in the story baptized babies. Baptists don't baptize babies. That is one of their PRIMARY theological distinctions.

Second of all, if the young lady in the story read her Bible as much as, and as often as, the story says she did, she would not have, under any circumstances, agreed to the narrator's plan at the end of the book. I cannot say further without giving away an essential part of the plot. Neither would her father have agreed to it.

Do you want to buy this book? It is sad. I heard that it was sad before I read it and determined not to cry, but I cried anyway.

I object to the foul language--again, this did not make sense in light of the Baptist connection to the narrator.

I enjoyed Mr. Sparks's ability to spin a story, but I did not like references to modern events, television shows, or currently popular celebrities. To me, these detract from the story rather than drawing readers in.

If the main character had just been a "nice" girl, rather than a Baptist girl, the story would have been much less offensive and the inherent mistakes could have been avoided.

Summary: Emotional story!
Review: I saw the movie first and I thought it was sad but the book made me cry too! It was really good! I wish I had read the book first b/c the story in the movie is a bit different. What a great story, even tho it's a bit "cheesy". Definetely worth reading if you want to cry! It will only take about 2 hours to read this book - so sit down and get started. You'll want to read it again, just so you can cry over it again.

Summary: Great Book. . .The movie was GREAT too!
Review: oK, I heard of Nicholas Sparksbefore but wasn't really motivated to go out and read any of his books. All of a sudden (in 2001) The movie for the resently published book was coming out. It looked like a great movie and I wanted to see it. Of course I wasn't going to see the movie without reading the book, so after I remembered themovie and book a few years later, I read and saw them, of course they were great.
Sparks does warn you from the beginning that it's gonna be happy then sad, so you kind of know what's going to happen but that doesn't ruin the story. Because of Landon's comical nature and Jaimie's gooh-heartedness you really get into and feel the story. It's beautifully written and this was one time in the story I wished that something improbable and magical could happen. This was definitely one of the best books I have ever read, and OH, i have read quite a few. The only reason why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was because of obvious plots in the story.READ THE BOOK!

Summary: a random book review
Review: Nichohlas Sparks did an incredible job with hid story, A Walk to Remember. This book keeps you reading page after page. I found it difficult to ever put it down until i was completely finished. This story shows how people can change and learn to see a person's inner beauty.
It all begins when Landon Carter is 57 years old and all his memories of his first love flow back to him like a dream. These memories are both good and bad. This brings him back to his memories of Jamie Sullivan, who was at first just a date to the Homecoming Dance. The only reason he had asked her in the first place was because it was a requirement for him to go. He had just ended a serious relationship and couldn't find a date. Then, however she asks him to be a part in her father's Christmas play, and through this they develop an incredible friendship. They enventually fall in love and Landon finds himself feeling guilty for all the pain he had caused her in the past. He realizes what a wonderful person Jamie Sullivan really was.
Landon Carter was somewhat "lost" in the book. He doesn't really have that much of an identity so he pulls off this bad boyish act. This really isn't the true Landon Carter. The main reason why he is the way he is is beacause of the way his father was. His father was never really around while he was growing up, which made his life difficult at times. He normally just goes along with what others does, until Jamie comes along. He finially finds what he is looking for, someone to love him.
Jamie, on the contrary, knew exactly who she was and her purpose in life for a long time. Her father was a minister at the Southern Baptist Church and was slightly over protective, but loved her very much. Her mother died at childbirth, but i think this just gave her more perspective on life. She was always incredibly religious, and she never failed to put a smile on everyone's face. She was the kindest girl anyone knew.
The love story between Jamie and Landon is ironic because they are such different people. However, people always say that opposites attract. I think this story shows that this is because sometimes, you need the traits you don't have. That doesn't neccesarrily mean you have to change yourself, you just have to find the good traits you don't have in someone else.

Summary: Touching story
Review: This was a very touching story. A good read for all ages because it does not contain any sex or bad language. I read it in one evening so it must have been a good book! LOL The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was quite predictable and I have never seen the movie.
