Rating: Summary: Another good love story with a little twists Review: A Bend In The Road is a good romance novel, but it was a little different from the other Spark's novels (The Notebook, A Walk To Remember) but it still held the romance. Of course this is one of Spark's best, but when I got to the end, it just brought me closer to the characters in the book, and this is a MUST read by Spark's fans. I love this novel a lot, and if you are in for a romance novel especially on a rainy day, buy this novel, and you will not regret it.

It is about a man named Miles Ryan and his son Jonah going through life after their wife and mother Missy dies. He thought she would also be his last until the day he meets Sarah Andrews, Jonah's second grade teacher. Sarah has just gotten over a divorce which is why she moved to New Bern where the storey takes place. Miles and Sarah help each other deal with their troubles until a shocking secret comes out and they have to make an important choice that will change their lives forever.
Rating: Summary: A story of healing Review: A Bend in the Road is a story about the healing power of love. And how sometimes to heal, you need to look within yourself and find the strength that you can't get from anyone but you.I enjoy all of Nicholas Sparks' books. This one is no different. From page one I was glued to the story, I finished the book in 2 days. As always, it was easy and fun reading. In this book Miles and his son Jonah are still dealing with their wife/mother's death 2 years prior. Two years might have passed, but the world of their grief has not. Until they finally meet someone who might be able to change all of that, Jonah's teacher Sarah, who is getting over a broken heart herself. Mixed in with the romantic love story of these 3 people coming together to heal, the mystery of who killed Miles wife plays itself out. Will they ever be able to be happy? If you enjoy romance novels, you need to pick this one up. Reading about some of the characters emotions put real tears on my face. I'll admit- I did recognize who the "killer" was as soon as we were introduced to him, but that was probably a lucky guess for me. Go get this book!
Rating: Summary: Ambler Scramblers Review Review: A Bend in the Road is an emotional and intriguing book. Miles Ryan's life was torn apart when his wife Missy was killed in a hit and run accident. He felt that, as a cop and as a husband, it was his job to find the driver. He is trying to get through his problems when he meets his son's teacher, Sarah, a just divorced woman who is new to their town. They connect and work through their problems together but when they find out they are connected by a dreaded secret, they are pulled apart. One thing leads to another and Miles is highly doubting that he will ever see Sarah again. They don't know what they are going to do from there, but closure is soon found.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Hit Review: A Bend in the Road is another great read. Some of Sparks readers might be surpriesed with the mystery along with the love story. There are points when the story is predicable, yet there are some schocks as well. But all in all, it's another great Spark's novel. Miles Ryand and his wife Missy seemed like the perfect couple. They were high school sweethearts and were now married with a son, Johan. Everything seemed to be perfect, alomost like a fairy tale, until one day when Missy went for a run, like she always did, but did not come back. Miles, as deputy sheriff, suspected something was wrong, and called his good friend Charlie, who was also his boss. Charlie drove the path that Missy ran, and unfortunately found her dead. Miles went rushing to the scene when Charlie told him something was wrong with Missy. MIssy was in a hit-and-run accident and there were not witnesses. After a couple of months the case was closed with no suspects, but Miles was not going to accept that, so he was determined to find the killer of his wife. Two years after the death of Missy, Miles is still unhappy, and now Johan is having trouble in second grade. His other teachers just let him pass because they felt sorry for him because of everything he'd been through. But his second grade teacher, Sarah Andrews, is new in town, and trying to recover from a bad divorce so she doesn't know about Johan's past. She is concerned about how behind Johan is in school, and is beginning to think that he will not pass the second grade; therefore, she arranges to talk to Miles about getting him help after school. When Miles and Sarah first meet each other, they are automatically attracted to one another, but Miles is so scared and shy to ask her out, that when he does tyr to ask her out, he ends up saying "How's the fan working out?" One day Miles gets a tip that a delinquent townsman, Otis, is the one who killed Missy. The two on them don't have the best reputation with one another, and Miles ends up abusing his privilege as a police officer when he goes a little too far, and actually ends up getting suspended. Miles really wants to put Otis away for what he supposedly did, and he will not let anyone get in his way. This is when Sarah has to tell Miles something that may change their relationship forever.
Rating: Summary: A Moving Love Story With Some Mystery Review: A Bend in the Road is another moving novel by Nicholas Sparks. I enjoyed this one much more than The Rescue, but not nearly as much as The Notebook or Message In A Bottle. Sparks adds a bit of mystery to this one to keep you guessing. If you want to try a fresh voice with depth and emotional impact while waiting for the next novel from Nicholas, check out Shade of the Maple by Kirk Martin. Very similar to The Notebook and he's donating a dollar per book to breast cancer research. Can't wait for the next one from Nicholas!
Rating: Summary: A Bend In The Road review Review: A Bend In The Road is both a love novel and a mystery novel mixed in one. This makes the book more interesting to read then some of his other novels that are all about love. The book is very captivating and keeps you guessing through the whole thing. Miles the main character tends to get kind of annoying with all his anger and sometime ruins the book. The book overall though is very well written and I would recommend it to all Nicholas Sparks fans.
Rating: Summary: Remarkable; a page-turner. Review: A BEND IN THE ROAD is one of the latest works offered by the famous bestselling romantic novelist, Nicholas Sparks. In this novel, we meet a small-town deputy sheriff by the name of Miles Ryan. His loving wife, Missy Ryan, was killed in a hit-and-run car accident mearly two years before the story begins. They have a young son, Jonah Ryan, who is now seven. Ever since Missy died, Miles has been trying to find the person who killed his wife. Both he and Jonah are completely devastated. Jonah takes it so hard that he starts to struggle in school as a result. All of his previous teachers have let him slip by because they felt bad for him. Then comes along the charming, intelligent Sarah Andrews, Jonah's second grade teacher. Miss Andrews has also had a previous relationship that ended tragically, when her husband found out that she could not produce eggs and get pregnant so they could not start a family and he left her. Miss Andrews discovers that Jonah has a problem in school, and so she asks Miles to come in for a parent/teacher meeting. Miles and Miss Andrews gradually fall in love after that, and things for both Miles and Sarah start looking better, until Sarah uncovers the truth about Missy's death and confronts Miles about it...the tragedy starts to haunt their developing relationship. This novel is not all just about romance, because it has some mystery in it, too. The ending is very shocking, and once you start reading A BEND IN THE ROAD, you can't put it down. I should also mention that this book is written in both third person narrative and first person narrative forms. In first person narrative, the person who killed Missy is telling their side of the story (you'll be able to tell the difference because first person is typed in italics). However, you don't really know who's speaking in first person until the end. If you enjoyed Nicolas Sparks's other novels (THE NOTEBOOK, A WALK TO REMEMBER, MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE, THE RESCUE), then you will definitely enjoy A BEND IN THE ROAD. I also have to mention that this is my first Nicholas Sparks novel, and I admit that I've become a fan...I can't wait to read his other works! An excellent summertime read.
Rating: Summary: A soulfull story of love lost and forgiveness. Review: A Bend in the Road moved me as most of Nicholas Sparks books do. I was draw into the loss and sorrow of the main character and understood his fear of commitment, but enjoyed the unfolding of the story of love and loss and new love found and the risk he decided to take.
Rating: Summary: Best Sellers Review Review: A Bend in the Road was a great book. I have never read any of Nicholas Sparks books, but after reading this I will find some of his other books and read them. This novel is about true love and how people will overcome anything to be with the ones they love. I can't believe the ending of this book. If you like unexpecting endings you better read this. I would recommend this book to all readers. It is told from Miles (the father of the book) point of view. It also had a little twist because part of the story was told from the killers point of view. GREAT BOOK!!
