Rating: Summary: What Path Would You Choose? Review: A Bend In The Road, by Nicholas Sparks is a remarkable book that will bring tears to your eyes. In the novel, Sparks weaves together two stories: the story of Miles Ryan's life after the death of his wife, and the story of the murderer of Missy Ryan (Miles Ryan's wife). Missy Ryan was a blessed mother and wife. The kind that every child would dream to have. However, one night destiny was not with her, and she was killed while jogging at dusk. Having found out about the horrific death of his wife, Miles Ryan takes it upon himself to find out what happened to his wife on that terrible night. Jonah, the son of Missy and Miles, nonetheless does not take his mother's death lightly. The affect of the death becomes so great, that Jonah begins to do poorly in school. Just when Miles thought life could not get better for him or his son, the charming teacher Sarah Andrews enters and offers to help Jonah with his academics. Sarah and Miles soon fall deeply in love yet their future together may be tattered by a secret tie from their past. Will their love for each other remain strong or will truth keep them apart... In A Bend In The Road, Nicholas Sparks has the cryptic ability to combine both mystery and romance and roll them into a novel that is a true page-turner. If you have ever read one of Sparks' novels, this one will surpass your expectations. If you are like me, who has never read his books, pick this one up because you will not put it down until the end.
Rating: Summary: Book Review Review: A Bend in the Road, by Nicholas Sparks, is a mystery and romance story. It is about a man who has a lot of problems in his life, such as his wife's recent death and his son's everyday struggles in school. The father, Miles Ryan, is a policeman and does everything that he can to find out who killed his wife and to help his son. Meanwhile, he meets Sarah, a kind woman who agrees to help his son Jonah with the his school by tutoring him, and Miles ends up seeing her outside of Jonah's tutoring. Miles and Sarah soon fall in love and many of Miles' problems unravel by the end of this surprising novel. I thought that this book was a good mystery and it made me think a lot about the plot. You don't have to like romance to like this story. Comparing this book to Sparks' other novel, A Walk to Remember, the two were a lot alike in that Sparks is very descriptive in both and both are of the same genre.
Rating: Summary: Sparks has done it again! Review: A masterpiece if ever I've read one. Sparks has an ability to get deeper inside me than any other author has been able to do and I read A LOT. He writes with his heart which then in turn is where I read it from. It's fabulous. All Sparks' books are truly amazing. The way Sparks puts words on paper is almost as though you are living the scene with the characters. I almost jump into his books. It is as though I am there. I definitely will keep buying NICHOLAS SPARKS novels.
Rating: Summary: Enough with the immature, and angry men... Review: Although I have enjoyed several of this author's previous novels, this one dissapoints. The main reason? A male character with the emotional maturity of a five-year-old. Two years after the death of his wife this guy is a self-indulgent rageaholic who can't get on with life. Yes, he is a good father and I admire that, but he is also impulsively angry, lacks self-awareness and is generally graceless when it comes to considering others' reactions to his wife's death. Yuck. As a man, I am tired of stereotypical (angry) and emotionally stunted male characters. How about a smart, sensitive, self-regulated guy for a change. I think I am most disenchanted with all the glowing reviews of the book by women readers. Is this behavior really romantic????
Rating: Summary: great book Review: Another great book by an interesting author. I enjoyed the mystery with several misleading assumptions. I liked this book much more than, THE RESCUE, as it stood on it's own two feet without resorting to lengthy, and unneed, descriptions of sex. Get a cup of tea, a roaring fire & a blanket & ccurl up for a good read.
Rating: Summary: A bend in the road Review: Another great book by Nicholas Sparks..However, nothing has come close to The Notebook yet..I have read all of his books and love them all..There were a few parts in the book that became rather boring such as the focus on Otis and the other "bad guys" in the book..All in all it was a good book and I would recommend it..
Rating: Summary: Predictable and Unambitious Review: Anyone could have written this book. So many cliches, predictable conversations, hollow characters. This is basically a Harlequin romance written by a man. I can't understand how this book graces the Bestsellers Lists.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read! Review: As a Nicholas Sparks fan I would have to say that this book is by far my favorite. Like most of his books it starts off tragic but than blooms into this incredible love story between Miles Ryan a widower and Sarah Andrews his son's second grade teacher who had just recently moved to New Bern because of a divorce. As their love grows you will laugh and cry with them. But as usual there is a twist in the end of the book that you will have to read to find out! I would recommend this book to everyone who believes in love.
Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: As always, he makes me feel so deeply with this book, that i want to reach in and hug him! He loved his wife, and he thinks he has found a new women to love... but has he? It had such a twist- I couldn't believe it! So good! Bravo!!!
Rating: Summary: Can I give this NO stars? Review: Awful. Just awful. I enjoyed "The Notebook" and even "Message in a Bottle," but since then Sparks is just mailing them in. What was his publisher thinking when it decided to let this one go to print? AWFUL. I'm thoroughly ashamed that I read it through to the end. I have only myself to blame.
