Summary: Why do reviewers give a great review on this game?
Review: I read many great reviews from gaming magazine and web sites and I was convinced that this would be a great to play.

I bought the X-BOX version of this game and man, I was not very happy with the graphics! It looks awful! The game was hard and it gets boring after several hours.

It's not all that bad, I enjoy the stealth training sessions and the short movie in the beginning.

OK game but not great!

Summary: I like it
Review: I think that this game is well worth the money that I spent on it. I have been trying to find more games like it. So I don't know how anybody can not like it, maybe there haven't been able to get very far in it.

Summary: Better Than X-BOX Version!!!
Review: Splinter Cell for the PC is a lot better on this platform because of the graphics and gameplay changes. The X-Box has diffucult controlling and picking locks is disasturous!X-BOX just has Kola Cell, that`s all really. So if you want Splinter Cell, get the PC version.

Summary: A different game, difference is good
Review: some ppl love this game, like me. others hate it, however, so i honestly suggest that u try it out before buying it. it is extremely realistic, and a lot of fun. there's millions of ways to do a particular mission, and it really requires you to think it thru and pick the best way based on ur situation. thats why some ppl dont like it, and ppl like me love it. u cant just go in rambo-style. one of my favorite games. ull want to go back and play it again because theres so many ways to go about a mission. the only reason i gave it 4 instaed of 5 stars is some of the missions are frustratingly difficult near the end, and theres no noticeable difference between normal and hard difficulty settings.

Summary: Better than Expected!
Review: I really love this game. It's not your typical "shoot-em-up" type of shooter, it's a get in and out before you're noticed. It's challenging, but not to the point where you hate the game because you can't get past one part. You learn to stay in the shadows. Your tools become very important as you progress in the game. I really think the news broadcast adds a little to the game, and make it unique. It almost does look like a news broadcast. I would recommend this game to anyone who is tired of the "shoot-em up" games and would like to try something a little more challenging! Oh ya, be sure you hide the bodies ;)

Summary: In a class of its own
Review: First off, wow! I have to say after playing through the whole game that this is easily one of the most compelling games i have ever had the pleasure of playing. I wasn't at first interested because i'm the type that likes to go through a game blowing up everything and anyone I feel like. If you take that mindset to this game, you're going to die quicker than you can say splinter cell. The worst position that you can get yourself in is one where it's an all out gun fight because it only takes a few hits and your dead. The game is much more realistic than most out there, which in my opinion makes it more fun. One reason i was apprehensive is because most games claiming to be stealth based are difficult to play because of control, or lack there of, and an absence of stealthy options. Not in this game. The control is marvelous, dare i say groundbreaking. You can interact with your environment like never before. I'm sure you already know most of the different moves you can do so I won't bore you with them. I will say that they really are seamlessly integrated into gameplay, and really your only way of getting through the game. I didnt find this game too dificult, but you do need patience and you may very well might find yourself having to re-load the current mission, so save a lot. The plot is nothing original. Basically some mad man is trying to de-stabalize the world and it's up to you to stop him. You're basically on your own most of the game. Usually your mission is to find information, destroy it and bascially investigate what is going on. You do get to play assasin once, but it would have been nice to be assigned more "targets". You do have a team at your back but they basically advise you for the most part. The graphics aren't perfect. But i could find very few graphical anomalies, and those are few and far apart. Most of the time it's a driver conflict with your video graphics card so update those drivers. I decided to give it a four becasue it so heavily taxes your system. Remarkable graphics come at a high price. I have a 2 ghz pentium 4 system with 512 mb of ram and a non-pro radeon 9700. Even with that combination the game still lagged in certain areas at acceptable graphic settings. I only really found a problem when I switched to night vision, something you will use quite a lot. They should have gone with the type of nightvision that shows everything in a shade of green instead of the black and white becasue it seriously slows down the fps. In fact depending on your graphic settings, it can come to the point where it's almost unplayable. Ubi soft should have gone with the regular ole' green nightvision. The game length is about medium i would say. Though there aren't too many levels, each map is extensive and you have a lot to do in all of them. I would recommend this game to anyone that is interested in a true stealth game, just have patience and play with the understanding that this isn't a shoot em up game or blow up everything in sight. It relies on stealth and strategy. Happy hunting

Summary: Slick and Exciting
Review: I'm not giving this game 5 stars because of the series of technical glitches I had with it, which the online patches managed to mostly fix. If bugginess out of the box annoys you, tread cautiously, and if it doesn't, make sure you download the patches. They do help.

Other than that...wow...what a great game! Very slick! It was better than I was expecting, honestly.

The character control is top notch even with only a keyboard and mouse, and the environments are eye-poppingly spectacular in detail. Also, I'd be remiss not to mention that the music is one of the best parts. It accompanys the action so well that you almost don't really hear it until you realize that you're tense. The music more than anything sets the mood.

Here's the quick lowdown on the gameplay:

Splinter Cell is only medium lengthed, but it's fairly difficult even on the normal setting and definitely packed full of 'action'. By action I mean thinking and waiting for the perfect moment to make your stealthy move. Even though you spend most of the game slinking about, I never felt that I was missing the rapid action of other third person games like Max Payne.

Also, the character reactions are humorous even if they all say the same series of things. Their terror-filled gasps when suddenly they see you standing right in front of them are the best. I laughed at loud several times. Furthermore, it was nice to hear Sam grunt as he exterts himself. His chest moves up and down to show he's breathing and just like a real shooter, he holds his breath to steady his aim when he snipes. Well done!

One downside is the forced training at the beginning. It's helpful the first time around, but annoying when you've already gone through it but want to play the game again on a different difficulty setting. It would be better if they made it an option instead of a requirement.

Finally, the replay value is minimal. I didn't see much of a difference between the normal and hard settings except that the enemies aren't as easily incompaciated by gas. Unless you want to play the same levels again and again to try to get by without once being seen, there's really no point to playing a second time.

Bottom line: I love this game and wish it didn't crash on me as much as it does. I look forward to the sequel.

Summary: Nauseating
Review: The graphics and gameplay are not bad but I HATED the whole premise of this game. You play an elite assassin of some agency of the USA government, your job is to go out and kill the evil non-American terrorists and 'bad-guys'. Everywhere in the game there are nauseating images of the American flag and American eagle etc etc. In short, if you are GW Bush or a 14 yo American kid you will love this game. But if you are a euroweenie like me and millions of others, and especially now after the repulsive cowardly invasion of defenceless and innocent Iraq, then you will hate this game. If this game had been made from a different perspective, one in which you play a counter-insurgent, a terrorist, or a brave Iraqi Freedom Fighter, and you go around killing Americans then that would have been great and I would have loved it. But unfortunately it is just nauseating hollywood garbage in game form, where the 'heroes' are the noble yanks and the ''bad-guys' are the chinese, russians, arabs, etc etc ad nauseam. As I said, for pimply 14yo Yanks and the Commander-in-Thief only.

Summary: National Security Agency of the United States
Review: This game is one of a kind. No other game on the market can even come close. The graphics are surreal; body movement's, facial expressions and gestures bring a whole new realm. You are an NSA agent and whatever and everything you do is top secret. Missions are exciting and challenging. The sounds are of high quality and game play is up there. The game can get addictive and there are is always another way of approaching a situation in the game. Stick to the shadows and darkness and you will be a ghost. The weapons are realistic and you have a choice of secondary fire. The story line is fantastic. It makes sense and it has authenticity to it. For the technical fans the game is built on the new unreal engine, although there were some modifications made. You can practically do anything in the game, from grabbing a character from behind to jumping down on top of them. Your choices are unlimited. In all there are 11 levels, each taking a good share of time to complete. I'm estimating that I finished in about 35 or so hours of continuous play. The game is longer then most games out there, and a strong story makes for a convincing and fun game. I would recommend this game instead of hitman and other 3rd person games out there.
