Summary: Good Silly Fun
Review: In "Bubble Boy," Jake Gyllenhaal plays Jimmy, a teen who suffers from severe immune deficiency, and is forced to come of age in the confines of a plastic bubble, set up in his parents' suburbia home. Jimmy is smothered by his obsessively religious mother (Swoozie Kurtz), and doesn't seem to mind till he meets Chloe, the beautiful girl who visits from next door, whom he becomes very close to, and falls in love with. When Chloe goes off to get married, Jimmy decides he must pursue her, so he fashions himself a "travel bubble" and goes off in search of his true love across the country.

Along the way, he meets a wide range of nutty characters, including the performers of a freak circus, the members of a religious cult, a motorcycle gang, and assorted other oddballs. Gyllenhall (who starred in Donnie Darko as as of late) brings a genuinely sweet and charming quality to his performance as the heroic Jimmy much like Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands.

Some folks may find it offensive, some of the humor is pretty over the top, but if you take it for what it is, good silly fun, I think you'll find it charming. To me, the film was totally appealing and very entertaining, in a Tim Burton Pee Wee Big Adventure kinda way. I laughed myself silly!

Summary: Totally surprised by this film
Review: I must say that I was shocked at just how funny this movie was. I put off seeing it for a while because I figured it would be a let down. I cannot believe how wrong I was. This movie was hysterical from beginning to end. The entire concept of the movie was great and it was played out perfectly by the case of characters involved. Somewhere along the line I did begin to realize that the movie would have to end with him not having to live in the bubble anymore, but even if you know that much there is still nothing spoiled. The biker gang, the cult and the phreaks were all funny and very much likeable. I cannot think of any part of this movie that should have been done differently. The cow scene was funny, the cult running over motorcycles was great and the scene in the plane and car with the kid talking to the old guys about the woman was hysterical. Do not overlook this movie. It was a feel good, life is great type movie that just makes you feel like everything is going to be ok afterall. Check it out, it's a definate must have addition to anyones DVD collection. One last thing, it has a scene with an all chick band named Betty Blowtorch, the lead singer/bass player (Biannca Halstead, pretty sure that is her last name) was killed in a car accident in December of 2001. So it was cool to see her in the quick cameo.

Summary: BRIGHT AND SHIIIINY!!!Always happy, never gay!
Review: This movie is great, it will keep you laughin from start to end. If you liked movies like Dumb and Dummer, Rat Race or liar liar, you will like this one. This is a road movie, so there are a lot of characters thrown in, but they all are great!!! The DVD doesnt have much, thereƂ's not a trailer for the movie, but you can sing the Bright and Shiny song. So I give the movie 5 stars and the DVD 3.5 stars.

Review: I have no idea how this movie got such horrid reviews. I'm not that big of a movie person, but I've watched this one a good ten times and I'm about to go inside and watch it again. It's one of those flicks you never, ever get sick of. A great comedy and love story. Five stars ... Jake Gyllenhaal is such a great actor!!

Summary: Yep. It blew, alright.
Review: I did not like Bubble Boy. In fact, I hadn't seen such a disgusting movie in a long time. The movie's called a comedy, but there are few actual [and supposedly] "comical" scenes, and those that are present are incredibly lame and, at points, downright offensive. I did chuckle a few times, but these were only at the scenes involving the midget, and one minor funny character isn't enough to hold up an entire movie. Plus, not only does Bubble Boy poke fun at a real-life disease (which I didn't find all that bad, really), but it also ridicules other minority groups; even religious groups. So Bubble Boy's a great example of what Hollywood is reverting to, and that's not funny at all. However-- If you like humor like Austin Powers and Joe Dirt, then you'll probably find this movie somewhat entertaining. However, in respect to the rest of us who still look for decent movies on a Saturday night, I'm kind of ashamed to even admit I wasted a good hour on this poor product.

Summary: What a delightfull surprise!
Review: I rented this movie in a moment of desperation at the Video
store. I had remembered some funny bits from the previews last summer.

But once it started to play I was not disappointed at all. This
movie is very funny! I caught myself laughing out loud
so many times. This movie pokes fun at everything and everyone: bikers, cults, bigotry, and yet it is never mean. Well a midget
does get thrown around a bit, but he's so rude he deserves it.

I admit this is not a serious movie and there is no great message to it. But that's not what I want when I watch a comedy. I want to laugh and this movie is hilarious. If you want to fall out of
your seat laughing this is the movie to watch.

Review: I don't usually like reviews because the people who write them do not have the same likes and dislikes as me, therefore, the review it pointless and I'm going to watch a movie whether or not the close minded critics like it or not.

This movie was great. It was funny and I didn't get bored at all. Although the storyline is a bit old, the bubblesuit gives it an interesting twist. Jake himself even said the Bubble Suit was a co-star.

Don't listen to me though, watch it yourself.

Summary: Don't Let the Stupid Name Fool You!
Review: When I first saw a trailer in the theatres for this movie, I thought "there is no way in hell I am going to see that movie." I wasn't alone on that thought as it bombed in the box office. I can't exactly figure out who the movie was targeting. When we actually broke down and rented it we almost died laughing! The movie has the ridiculousness and charm of the director's previous film "Austin Powers, the Spy Who Shagged Me." I bought the DVD the day after I rented it. The characters and scences are outragous and ridiculously funny. I have not laughed that hard watching a movie in quite a while. We were still laughing during the ending credits. Just give it a chance, and you won't regret it!!
