Summary: Young Horror Fans - Don't Buy This Movie!!
Review: I wanted to see this movie for years. Kim Newman, a critic I admire, calls it 'the nastiest of the nasties' in his definitive book on horror Nightmare Movies, and it's banned in an uncut form in Great Britain - I wonder what's so bad about it, I thought over the years. Fascination got the better of me. I got this DVD and sat down with a like-minded friend to be shocked and stunned and grossed-out. And we were. At how sleazy, vile, and repugnant it was. Okay I admit, I knew what was coming - I'd read enough about it over the years - but I could not wait to get this awful film out of my home and into the trash. (I actually sold it on) Basic human rights aside, sometimes you just have to be thankful for censorship. Real animal killings (haven't been able to get them out my head ever since, thanks Umberto Lenzi) a woman getting convincingly hung up by chains in her breasts (not nice), good old fashioned cannibalism and viciousness and a complete absense of anything like storyline or tension. For a young English viewer used to seeing heavily truncated horror stuff this was enlightening - at just how low some film makers would go. This movie was made pure and simply to make money. Nothing wrong with that, most of them are but this is just sickening exploitation and everyone involved should be throughly ashamed of themselves. Star John Morghen admits he hates the film on his very camp commentary track (but still agreed to do the commentary, hey John?). I wish I'd paid heed to everything I'd read about this movie. YOUNG HORROR FANS, DON'T FALL INTO THE SAME TRAP I DID, DO NOT BUY THIS MOVIE!! It's ... and offensive and a waste of hard-earned cash. If you want a good horror movie get Texas Chainsaw or Last House or even Cannibal Holocaust (just as gory but much better made), just don't get this. Phew! Glad to get that off my chest!

Summary: IF YOU ENJOY ANIMAL CRUELTY, THIS MOVIE IS FOR YOU.
Review: At long last Amazon.com has decided to sell CANNIBAL FEROXon-line. That means ANYBODY, even children, can buy it. This film isso violent, and so cruel[....] CANNIBAL FEROX features some of thebloodiest scenes imaginable. But these scenes usually involve the'actors'. The one scene that sticks in my memory is the snake thatcrushes the life out of the helpless little animal. It seems thisscene last for several minutes. You get to hear the little animal'sscreams, and you are invited to see the life being squeezed out ofit. This 'scene' is one of the most horrific moments on film, and nobody's acting. This is real!!! CANNIBAL FEROX is a dreadful movie. I enjoy good horror movies but this is NOT a good horror movie. [....]

Summary: Great flick, just too overhyped
Review: This film is definately one that sticks out in my mind. Just be aware the hype on the movie, this film is not as bad as it promotes. It is NOT banned in 31 countries, more like 5. The violence in this film is indeed gruesome. Buy this DVD, it is very very great.

Summary: not realy the ultimate cannibal film
Review: while being a very harsh and cruel viewing experience cannibal ferox is streets away from the power and sheer visceral impact of rugero deodatos cannibal holocaust. that is the ultimate!! having said that however, this disk worth adding to your collection, lots of extras and a pretty good print more than do the film justice. even though its not my favourite ,id still recomend it.

Summary: Another Grindhouse Release
Review: This is a great DVD release of a bad movie. Brutal animal killings, a silly script, diabolical acting, and laughably phony special effects deflate Umberto Lenzi's "serious" attempt at racism. It would be a lot more offensive if it was executed (no pun intended) more convincingly; as it is I had a hard time taking it seriously.

That said, I was real impressed with the way it was packaged. Along with a fold out replica of the U.S. poster and Umberto Lenzi's filmography, the DVD includes a fascinating audio commentary from Lenzi and star John Morghen (their take on the movie could not be more opposite), the original Italian, German, and U.S. theatrical trailers, a photo and poster gallery including recent photos of Lenzi and Morghen (who I hardly recognized) set to the soundtrack music, an on camera interview with Lenzi, which is mostly Italian), and liner notes by Bill Landis. There's even an easter egg of a premiere in San Francisco (which gauges the audience's reaction to the movie). A job well done!

If you can take the animal killings and the degrading of women (of which there is a LOT of it) you might enjoy this movie. Certainly to me it hasn't looked or sounded so good in any other incarnation.

Otherwise, steer as far away from this sucker as you can.

Summary: Cannibals that have very little bite
Review: I was so excited to finally see this lost movie, only to be let down. I mean, it was fun to me, but all the hype really almost ruined it! This is no classic, and actually, it is rather slow at first, but the music is a hoot and the gore is plentiful. I like Todd Sheets and Peter Jackson much better, and you can tell this movie influenced both of them. But really, with a title like this, you know what you are getting into and it is a great package with a poster and a lot of extra stuff, much of it I have yet to find time to see!

Good transfer helps, but this one can't decide if it's an action or a horror title and that is ultimately what hurts it to me. But the actors are all good and the effects work is pretty great for how old this is. I have seen much worse than this. And much better.

Summary: i gave it 'one' star because there's no 'zero'
Review: I felt so stupid watching this DVD. It says on the cover that this DVD is banned in 33 countries. Do you know why? because it's a stupid movie.

Summary: Junk. . .
Review: Cannibal Ferox, the classic cannibal romp that ultimately fails in almost every aspect imaginable, is considered by many to be the ultimate gore film. I thoroughly disagree. Cannibal Holocaust, though not as gory, is many times more realistic and could be described as a great film in my book. It actually had a purpose, whereas this film does not. Good gore effects and DVD layout tempt me to give 2 stars, but they really do not add much to an otherwise worthless DVD.

For hardcore gore-fans, I actually suggest you purchase this DVD! But for those looking for a good gore-film, look elsewhere *(The Beyond, Cannibal Holocaust, Dead Alive, Evil Dead, and Dawn Of the Dead are my primary recommendations).

Summary: gore and bad acting
Review: This is one of the best B-Movies I have seen. It drags a little, but provides excellent entertainment value. Just like the title. You must look past the bad ating, animal tourcher and terrible effects to see it has no redeeming value then pure silly entertainment.
