Summary: Great Product for the Money
Review: This is a great portable DVD player for the money. I will admit that the better known brands (Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba...) do make better ones, but they cost $600 or more. This one is a little cheaply built (although I've had no problems so far), but for your money, you can't beat it.

The picture quality (on the built-in LCD or a TV) is just as good as any progressive-scan DVD player. The sound quality is great through headphones or TV speakers. The built-in speakers are not so great, but I have never seen one of these with good speakers. Also the included headphones are not so great, but headphones are cheap, so that's no big deal.

The best thing about this player is its battery. This is the only portable DVD player I have seen under $1200 with a 4-hour battery. Also, it is amazingly small and light, even with the battery attached. Another thing that really impressed me was its ability to convert full-screen movies to widescreen. You can't tell a full-screen movie from a widescreen one.

I would recommend that if you plan to travel with it, get a nice case. Also, get a cassette adapter to run the sound through your car stereo. And don't listen to the people that say it skips. I've TRIED to make it skip by shaking it and it wouldn't.

Basically, this player has all the features of a more expensive one, but is made with cheaper parts so they can sell it for an affordable price. If you need a good DVD player for an affordable price, I would go with this one. If you're Bill Gates, go ahead and get a nicer one like a Sony, Panasonic, or Toshiba.

Summary: Not the Greastest Product I've Ever Owned :(
Review: The Good: Great picture, killer sound, even on those itty bitty speakers-put headphones on & you are in the theatre! Came w/ tons of extras: a remote, a carrying case, AC adapter, car adapter, 2.5 hours battery, great headphones, etc. Tough external case. Plays tons of media: MP3, VCD, JPEG, even some AVI's! Good price for what I got. EXCEPT....

The Bad: This is the 4th unit I have owned. I have had to return it 3 times now. This will be the last time-after this I will ask for a full refund. I thought it was a fluke with the 1st few, but nope. Same thing. There seems to be a short in the power connection, whether you're using the battery or an adapter. If you move it just a bit it will make a very nasty squealing noise and 'zap!' the screen either goes so dark you can barely make out the picture or it goes GREEN. At that point you have to completely restart the unit.

The Ugly: It did this within a few days of taking it out of the box.

Verdict: Buying this unit based on personal experience and the reviews I have read, will be a gamble-you are taking your chances.

Summary: Save your money. It's a piece of JUNK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: The CyberHome DVD player looks fantastic, smooth, sleek, even sexy, and the picture is wonderful but the beauty is only skin deep with this little gem, because within six months you'll find out its junk. The first thing you'll notice is the speakers produce poor sound, if you use an ear piece in won't matter, then you'll notice that the plastic frame around the screen cheap silver paint wearing off, next one day the machine just won't work. When you contact CyberHome and return the player they'll probably send you a new one. I think it's cheaper for them to replace it then fixing something they know is junk from the start. However, they only fix it if it is within the warranty period three months for labor and one year for parts. Three months think about that three months is a very short period of time, why three months for labor because this is a piece of junk. Save your moneys if you want a portable DVD player, get an RCA, Sony, Panasonic, Audiovox, etc. I bought this DVD player from Home Shopping Network, in the spring of 2003, and notice that HSN has drop CyberHome portable DVD players for Mustek portable DVD players. HSN could have changed brands for many reasons but I can think of one very good reason; CyberHome Dvd player is a piece of JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: region free hackable by remote
Review: Open tray and enter 'Stop/1/9/9/9' with your remote, then you can pop-up a hidden menu screen where you can select your own region or ALL regions. This hidden feature added a lot more value for me.

Summary: False Advertising
Review: Despite the extended list, in the technical information section, of formats that this player will play, it is NOT a region-free player. Although this is stated nowhere but the owner's manual, each separate unit is coded to only play the region of where it is to be sold. Don't waste your money, since other non-region-free players are less expensive.

Summary: Returned to the store in just a few hours...
Review: If your looking for one of the top five poorly built portable DVD player then look no further because this unit definitely qualifies. The first unit I purchased was defective brand new out of the box. You would think I would get that as my first clue that this brand is not too keen on quality control. However, I returned the first unit and purchased a second unit. Yes, this one worked but the quality of picture and sound was abysmal. I have heard better sound from a $5 alarm clock and sadly I'm not joking. In any event, do yourself a favor and don't bother with this one. The second Cyberhome unit is going back tomorrow and will be replaced by something other than one of the many brands that are made in china.
