Review: I love the Muppets but this one was awful! Stick to the other muppet christmas specials. Whoppie Goldberg as God was insulting to Christians and Christmas but not just that. The story was a weak version of its a wonderful life and not very funny. ... I have all the muppet shows, toys, and movies. This was buy far the worst Muppet item I've seen.

Summary: They're BACK!!!!
Review: Why do we love the Muppets? Charming, zany, lovable, insightful, and funny are just a few words to describe Jim Henson's ingenius creations who lost a bit of their zest when Henson died in 1990 and his son Brian took the helm. Growing up with The Muppet Show and the earlier movies, I found that the last two or three movies were beginning to lose their flavor for me. Still cute and endearing, but lacking some of their wit. This movie brought back memories I hadn't felt since watching the Muppets as a child. It has the charm and spirit that I was beginning to believe the Muppets had lost. The cast is particularly amazing with Whoopi Goldberg, Joan Cusack, and David Arquette in his best performance yet (no joke!). The humor and spoofs here are dead-on perfect (especially the MOULIN ROUGE routine). Let's hope the success of this tv movie makes the new Muppet-makers realize that new routines don't always work. Not with the Muppets anyways. Stick with the old and don't mess with perfection.

Summary: Good to have you back, Muppets!
Review: A lot of criticism has come out against the Muppet's not "sounding right." Well, Frank Oz was the only one that was noticably not there - buy hey, he's a busy man! He did do the Weezer video, Keep Fishin'! So he's still a muppet performer!
This movie had a lot of soul and it was good to see Steve Whitmire take center stage with Kermit. He was really good. And Pepe was excellent.
This movie was funny, charming, and even sad in parts. Good to see the Muppets performing something. There's not much Muppeting going on lately, so it was great to have them back. More Muppets please!

Summary: Glad to See them Back
Review: This was a wonderful movie. It made me laugh and made me cry. I was so happy that the muppets had made a return appearance. Maybe because I was a child of the 80s, every afternoon watching the Muppet Show, I'm sentimental. I loved Robin as the Green Fairy in Moulin Scrooge. I got a kick out of the Cirque Du Soleli knock off, especially since it was currently in the IMAX here in town and I had just seen it. It was a good family movie that I would encourage anyone to share with their children.

Summary: awful
Review: I love the muppets and I love Christmas. But not this movie which was awful!! Why does Hollywood feel it's ok to slam Christians. Whoopie Goldberg as God is Blasphemous! I will never buy this movie! The plot was ok if they had made it with a traditional mindset of Christmas and what it really means.

Summary: A pleasant surprise for Christmas!
Review: As a life-long Muppet fan, I have watched them struggle and slowly fall from briliance, and so when I sat down to watch this tv movie, I was honestly expecting the same poor writing and painfully awkward cameos as have appeared in recent Muppet projects (they have still been highly enjoyable, but not enough to grab the masses --or keep up with old Muppety standards, in my opinion). But I was pleasantly surprised at what a well-written and truly funny, old-style Muppet treat this movie was!! The jokes were NOT all tired and predictable, the puppeteering was on, and even the somewhat abrasive David Arquette played his role well and blended nicely. (Ok --Whoopi as God was a bit much).

Yes -- the voices weren't all what they used to be, but heck -- aren't the puppeteers allowed to age?? I think Steve Whitmire has done a fabulous job of taking over many of Henson's characters (he gets better with every project), and I don't have a problem with Jerry and Frank's voices changing a little. They're only human.

This movie was very encouraging -- I hope that it is only the beginning of more well-done projects to emerge.

**True Muppet fans will really appreaciate the digs the Muppets get on ..ahem..."certain companies" who have attempted to alter contracts and pull the floor out from under the Muppets in real life. Very nice! Although, about that dig against Muppet Central groupies....well, we'll forgive them. ;0P

Summary: Dissapointment
Review: I eagerly waited for the first showing of the new Muppet Movie but as our favourite characters appeared on the screen, something seemed wrong. Miss Piggy's voice had changed, so had that of Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle. What has happened to Frank Oz? Also, even though his name was mentioned, was Jerry Nelson actually performing Robin, Lew Zealand or Statler (a role he took over after Richard Hunt had passed away)? I'm not sure he did. What has happened to the original Muppet performers. It seems that only Dave Goelz is left from the original line-up. Since Jim Henson's death the Muppet family is slowly falling apart and I'm not sure that they can put it back together. I was impressed by the Muppet Christmas Carol and I was also impressed by the way Steve Whitmire had taken to the role of Kermit so well but it's a real pity that the standard has dropped. I'm just thankful it hasn't dropped to the point they needed Snoop Dogg to try and boost ratings...

Summary: Invasion of the Muppet snatchers
Review: After viewing this movie (which is, bizarrely, NOT offered on DVD), I had to wonder; were all the REAL Muppets abducted, and replaced with sound-alikes? After all these years, I've "kinda-sorta-maybe" gotten used to Steve Witmire as Kermit, but why has Frank Oz seemingly washed his hands of the Muppets, as well (he's NOT listed in the credits)? Fozzie just didn't seem like Fozzie, Scooter and Janice (their originator, I believe, has died) both sounded "off"....even Sam the Eagle just wasn't quite "there". You'd think that, with characters THIS classic, a bit more care would have gone into finding new voices for them. At least it's nice to still have the original Gonzo around, and a few minor characters (Rizzo, Johnny and Sal, etc). Perhaps this would explain Pepe's needlessly expanded role...he's still an original voice, "ok"? Some fun skits (many involving Beaker)and jokes (a pocketless Kermit having his wallet stolen) do make it worth owning, but, as a previous reviewer said, the true "soul" of The Muppets just isn't there. The fact that WHY, in this age of the DVD, this title is ONLY offered on VHS is also a mystery, one that severly hurts it's score.

Summary: One of the best Muppet movies ever!
Review: The Muppet Christmas Carol is a Holiday masterpiece, always to be one of my favorite christmas movies. Even though this one was not as serious, and lacked on acting somewhat the comedy was node crude like some "family" or "childrens" movies out today. I esspecialy liked Rizzo being a rat on Fear Factor. This is a must see Muppet movie!!

Summary: I LOVE Fozzie!
Review: And all the muppets. But especially Fozzie, in this one. I truly felt for him, and I just wanted to reach out and give that cute bear a big hug.
A worthy companion to other muppet movies. I enjoyed the incorperation of characters explored far too little in Muppets Tonight.
Buy this one!
