Summary: AWESOME BOOK!
Review: I thought this book was great. I don't really read books all that often, but this one kept me going. There really wasn't a good place to stop! If you like twisted and unpredictable stories, I definently recommend this book!

Summary: You Will Get Sucked Into This Hole!
Review: I thought this book was great. It's about a kid named Stanley Yelnats who has a bad luck streak and gets sent to a juvenile correctional facility.
Stanley Yelnats has had a bad luck streak throughout his whole life. He always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was all because of his great-great grandfather who stole a pig from an old Gypsy lady who put a curse on him and all his descendants. Stanley and his family think that it's all a family joke, but in this case, it actually happened.
When Stanley is wrongfully convicted of a crime he didn't commit, he gets sent to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile correctional facility. The name may confuse you. Hardly anything is green, and there is no lake. Where there used to be a lake, there are holes (hence the title: Holes.) The camp is run by the Warden who says that digging holes supposedly builds character. Stanley believes that they are looking for something. While Stanley tries to figure it out, he earns a nickname and some new friends.
The author, Louis Sachar, combines both past and present of not only Stanley, but also of the town Green Lake. I have read this book a couple of times, and the last time I read it, I found out something that I didn't know before. I suggest that everybody should read Holes at least a couple of times to fully understand the book. Stanley gets pretty lucky despite his bad luck. This book is one of my favorites

Summary: Outstanding Book
Review: I thought this book was perfect. It was very exciting and every chapter had an important part to add to the plot. I hope you read this book because it is full of adventure. It is not like other Louis Sacher books as it is written in a different style than Wayside School. It has everything a good book needs. The moment I picked it up, I couldn't put it down.

Summary: Let's dig some Holes
Review: I thought this book was totally boring at the begining. I had to read it for summer school lists. My mom would ask me what was going on in the book, and I always said that they were digging holes. The end is the best. I got to about chapter 24 and started liking it. It was a exellent story, with a great lesson.

Summary: Way Better than Harry Potter
Review: I thought this book would be boring. I mean there's not much you can say about holes. I only read it because my brother's friend had brought it from school and left it at our house. I saw the preview for the movie so I figured I'd give the book a try and I for one must say it was excellent. I didn't go to bed until 4:30am last night ( thank goodness it wasn't a school night) because I couldn't put it down. It was one of the first books I've read in a long time that kept me wanting to read it and interested the whole time.
The characters are very easy to related to and lifelike. The book is also nicely paced, not too fast or slow moving at all.
Something I liked was that while the setting is supposed to be a detention center it is still humorous and decent without all of that stuff you usually get with these settings. In short, no drugs, alcohol, sex, or any of that stuff.
Another thing is that there are no loose ends. Throughout the book every situation is explained so your not sitting there thinking " Huh? Why did that happen?" or " Who is that person?".
I've read the Harry Potterbooks and no offense Rowling but Sachar puts your books to shame. And he's able to do it without all that techanical fantasy stuff. Sure there's a little something enchanting about the story Holes, but it is mostly real life making it easy for real people to related to along with a twist of fiction. I only wish that freaking Harry Potter story would have come to a closing and that this book could have been a series.
This is a wonderful book and I recommend it to everyone looking for a great read.
