Summary: HOLES LEAVES HOLES!
Review: I won't tell you what happens at the end of this Newbery Medal winning book, but pay attention to every word. There are detials that, in one chapter, could be minor, but in another, could be major. Also, make sure you're a good thinker, because HOLES leaves holes for you and your brain to fill in yourself! Hope you don't get to hot from filling all those in!

Review: I wonderfull stroy! Gripping and Compelling! I am only 11 years old but when you pick up a book and read it in a day, you know it's a good book. Sacher creates two amazing charactors along with a gang of other roudy kids. The book kept me reading.

If you were acuesed for a crime you never commited what would you do? Well Stanley Yelnats decided to...

Summary: Once the story started, no listener wanted it to end.
Review: I work in an elementary school library and the librarian read chapter 4 out loud to third and fourth grade students. This led to a reserve list of 25 waiting for the book. With the school year drawing to a close, there was no way all the students would get a chance to read HOLES so we started a HOLES lunch group and I read the book over the student's 1/2 lunch time while they ate. No student ever missed a lunch group meeting! After each session the students tried to guess what would happen next. I have never had such an attentive group of students! Thank you Louis Sachar!

Summary: I'm a high school senior, and I adored it!
Review: I work part time at the library after school. So when I saw that Louis Sacher had written a Newbery Award winning book I was absolutely delighted -- I've been reading his stuff -- heavens -- since I was tiny (starting with the Wayside School series) and it was almost a vindication to see him win this award.

Anyway, I picked this book up at work and started reading it. Instead of shelving my books like I was supposed to I have to admit, I read the entire book! (forgive me Indiana taxpayers...) It was engrossing and absolutely wonderful. I didn't feel "talked down to" at all. The style was refreshing after such cumbersome novels at The Fountainhead and Heart of Darkness that I've read in English class, but the themes of Holes were just as complex.

I recommend this book to anyone, no matter what the age.

Summary: Great for ALL Ages!
Review: I would highly suggest reading this book. It's a great story, with a great ending. I also highly suggest reading other books by Louis Sachar. A really fun story to read, and the book has little short stories about the main character's familie's past. Well written also. You have to read it. It's better than the movie. Oh, and Louis Sachar was in the movie! A small role as a bald man, who bought onion juice from Sam the Onion Man. Great book overall.

Summary: Wow
Review: I would just like to say that this is one of the best books I have ever read. It was amusingly entertaining. I admit it did become quite predictable but the story line kept me wanting to read on.

The story is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats (notice the name...look closely) around 13 whom is wrongly accused of steeling a pair of famous shoes. His sentence leads him to Camp Green Lake where there isn't a lake at all...just a vast area of dry desert like sand. His punishment is to dig holes, and dig holes and dig holes to "straighten him out".

The story is clever because it jumps back and forth between two story lines. One about the present and how Stanley survives along with his friends and the short curcuited leaders, and the other is a tale of the past.

Everything is linked together and fits like a glove at the end. I started reading and could not put this book down. It is fun for all ages...and I am now officially dieing to see the movie!

Summary: mississippi the story of holes
Review: I would rate the book extreamly good .But the book had its strong and weak pionts. It was too confusing in the beginning and ended to quick at the end.It had good action parts that left you on the end of your seat. His style of writing was fasinating how he had there stories that all connected into one whole story. His way of writing and the discriptive words he used made you feel like you could under stand what the caracters felt and you were in the story. The expressions he used were cool look for as empty as a flower pot and i can fix that, also his no good dirty rotten great great grandfather. He had loads of caractersbut they were all cool. That is why i like holes.
