Rating: Summary: My students were on the edge of their seats! Wow! Review: This book was excellent. The students in my fourth grade classroom begged me to read this book! The suspence was incredible. It motivated even my most reluctant reader to pick this book up and read. Well done, Mr. Sachar!
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: This book was excellente! Stanley was accused of stealing sneakers and sent to Camp Green Lake. Boys in this detention camp were forced to dig 5 foot by 5 foot holes everyday. Stanley runs away to go and find his friend that ran away. This book keeps you reading and wanting more. It's a must read for student in grades 6 through 9.
Rating: Summary: Not a bad choice for a an easy reader. Review: This book was exciting to read and was fairly interesting for a small choice of enjoyment. I enjoyed it because it was about a kid who I could easily relate to because I have been sent to a detention camp too. However, I didn't have to dig holes everyday like the main character. I hope that nobody in real life ever has to go to a camp for stealing a pair of shoes like the main character.
Rating: Summary: Why are we digging? Review: This book was filled with excitment and adventure. Stanley Yelnats has been sent to horrible Camp Greenlake. He has messed up and is digging holes to build his character,so the counselers say but he dosn't think that is really what he is digging holes for. I think this book would be for someone who likes adventure if you have time I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: This is Louis Sachar's most amazing book! Review: This book was filled with wonderful characters like Stanley Yelnats and Hector Zeroni, and it had an incredible plot with wonderful surprises, twists, and turns from the first page to the last page.
Rating: Summary: This book was awesomely cool Review: This book was fun to read. The cover wasn't great, but the story was good. I like how it made you "fill in the holes" at the end. I liked it when they found refuge under "God's Thumb" and I also liked it when they kept telling us stories within the main story.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK WOULD BE A GOOD BOOK FOR KIDS THAT LIKE TO READ Review: THIS BOOK WAS GOOD. IT WAS LONG BUT WORTH THE TIME. THE AUTHOR LOUIES SACHAR MIXED THREE STORIES INTO ONE CONCLUTION. THE BOOK WAS GOOD AND I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD GO OUT AND READ THIS BOOK.
Rating: Summary: Best book in ages!!! Review: This book was great in so many different ways. I also think it attracts such a veriety of ages. The plot was a little slow in the beggining but it wakes up a little in to the middle of the book.As I said it is the best book (not including Harry Potter of course) in ages.My hats of to Louis Sacher. It was really top draw.
Rating: Summary: To stay alive or not to stay alive? Review: This book was great! It has many mysteries in it and it all connected from one link to another. When I started the book it was really hard to put it down. You keep on wondering what was going to happen next. This was mainly about a boy named Stanley with a a curse and a camp called Camp Green Lake where there is no lake but a desert with deadly animals. Stanley is digging holes in the camp but the Warden is looking for something. Now its all about Stanley getting out of there and getting that something the Warden is looking for. Except,he has to get out... alive.
Rating: Summary: Not your typical kid fare. Review: This book was great, if a little disturbing at times. It incorparates two stories (one about a boy who goes to "Camp Greenlake"- a boys detention center- on a false charge, and the other about a school marm turned outlaw who lived on the same land 100 years ago) that are a perfect match for each other. They both provide insights into the other story and finally come together at the end with a big surprise. You'll be rooting for "Caveman" the entire way, even when the things he does are beyond comprehension. Once again, Sachar has produced a wonderful page turner with literary merit as well.
