Rating: Summary: A fabulous Book for pretty much all ages- What a great book Review: This book, following the exploits of Stanley Yelnats at the junior detention center of Camp Green Lake, is a most exceptional book in its own right. The story, with it's witty plot, and it's eccentric writing style, is not to be missed. The book can be read by people ages 9 to 199 years old, and it certainly should be. This book gets the highest certification of excellence by me, and I encourage everybody to read it.
Rating: Summary: "Holes is an exciting journey that you never want to stop." Review: This book, Holes by Louis Sachar, is wonderful. It has suspense, humor, action, and great characters. The main character, Stanley, is someone a lot of us can relate to. While he's still at school, he's made fun of because of his weight. But then when he gets sent to this camp, Camp Green Lake, he becomes well-liked. The boys at the camp get along with him and he feels like he finally fits in. Everyday Stanley is at this camp he has to dig a 5 foot by 5 foot hole. Doing this, he gets into shape, and feels better about himself. This is exciting and invigorating and one of the best books I have ever read. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to get a good laugh, or just likes a story that isn't boring. I was really impressed.
Rating: Summary: Digging Up A Good Book Review: This book, Holes was adventurous; it really captures your mind. Louis Sachar who wrote this book came up with a title that describes practically the whole book, Holes. This book is about a boy who gets sent to boot camp because he was framed. All they have to do all day is dig a hole 5ft deep and 5ft wide. Also it is about his heritage, meeting new types of people, and learning that life is not always perfect. This book has many great qualities. It has a wonderful plot and it is an extremely fun book to read. I think it has a wonderful plot because everything connects and makes sense, so you don't have to go back in the book to see what they are talking about. I think it was a fun book to read because there is many action parts and many explanations of things. It is a suspenseful book, which keeps you wanting to read on. Many people I know who have read this book have enjoyed it. Some people might think that this book is boring and may not have enough action. One might think this because it is sort of slow in the beginning; but it picks up momentum as you read on. This book I don't think is appropriate for all ages because little kids might mistake it for child abuse, when older people will understand that it is just a book and understand what the book is actually talking about. This book is adventurous and really captures your mind. I would recommend this book to anyone older then the age of nine years old. This book is not only fun, but also has a good lesson. I won't tell you what the lesson is about because that is your job.

Rating: Summary: I enjoyed this book because it had a lot of suspense. Review: This boy named Stanley got in trouble and got sent to Camp Greenlake. At Camp Greenlake, all he did was dig 5'x5' holes. He made friends with some of the boys, including Zero, Armpit, and Ex-ray. Stanley found a gold tube, and gave it to Ex-ray. Ex-ray gave it to the Warden and got the day off. The Warden was very thankful and wanted all the boys to carefully search the area. They did, and found nothing, because they were searching Ex-ray's area, not Stanley's. Then, Zero asked Stanley to teach him how to read. In return, Zero would dig some of Stanley's hole. Stanley agreed, and started teaching Zero. After awhile, Zero ran away, and soon after Stanley ran off afterwards to go look for Zero. Stanley found Zero in an old half-buried boat, and they decided to go to a mountain called "God's Thumb". On the way, Zero got sick, and Stanley carried him up the mountain. Once they got up to the "thumb", Stanley found a little pool of water and an onion. The next day, Stanley found a huge garden of onions. Zero soon got better, and they decided to go back to Camp Greenlake and look for treasure in the hole that Stanley found the gold tube. They found the treasure, and they found out that Stanley's attorney had come to Camp Greenlake to free him the day before. His attorney came back that day, and the Warden and her helpers; Mr. Sir and Mr. Pendanski got into trouble. That day, Zero and Stanley got to go home, and Zero was able to find his mom.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: This compeling and uniquely written book is such a treasure! I started reading Holes and couldn't put it down. With the chapters being so short, it feels like a real quick read. This book is usually read in upper elementary or middle school, but as an adult I was absolutely impressed and interested. It was a unique blend of suspense, mystery, historical fiction, comedy, and drama. I would recommend this book to just about anyone. I gave it four out of five stars only because I would have liked it to be longer! I was left with many questions at the end and the longing to know more.
Rating: Summary: Great "Read Aloud" book for Teachers & Parents Review: This exciting story was the perfect read on the plane coming back to Iowa from a teacher's meeting. It is suspenseful, occasionally humorous and absolutely rivoting. You won't be able to put it down. I shared it with other teachers at school and they are now reading it aloud to our upper elementary classes. Besides the twists and turns to the plot, and the many connections from past to present, the book has a message of hope for all kids that have ever felt like they didn't "fit in". Our students and teachers will always look at "holes" a bit differently after reading this terrific story. I highly recommend this book to anyone from 8-80.
Rating: Summary: Holes READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!!! Review: This great book I'm reviewing is Holes by Louis Sachar. I think this book deserves five stars. The book is about a kid whose name is Stanley Yelnants the fourth. He always claims he is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Stanley also claims that Clyde Livingston's cleats fell from the sky, so he took them. I really think you should read this awesome book!
Rating: Summary: Addicted to onions...... Review: This has fast become one of my favorite books. Now have read it twice it, still(unlike many stories targeted at younger audiences)holds up incredibly well. Its quite an amazing story. Or rather two stories inttwined perfectly together to complement eachother and come together in one big climax. Its a strange bizarre tell. I'm so glad They're making a movie of it, the question is..."Will Justice be done?", that's my concern. Because its an amazing tale. A tale about societies unerdogs coming out on top. A tale of keeping promises, a tale of destiny, a tale of hope, a tale of courage, and many others. But above all it is story about friendship. A very unlikely one at that. Holes is a very strangely great book. You may expect very little, but you'll most likely come out with alot. God Bless ~Amy
