Summary: A perfect summer read, Jackie Collins BEWARE!!!!
Review: Columbia Univeristy law student Jack is out to avenge his brother, Peter's death. Peter was found dead at the Neubauer's, wealthy citizend of the Hamptons in New York at a posh party.

The Neubauer's are Jack's girlfriend's parents and they do not like him at all. Peter supposedly drowned, but his corpse was found covered in bruises.

And why would Peter, who was hired to park cars, go in the water on a dark and stormy night??

Well, Jack digs in and tried to come up with some answers. Local police officer, Frank Volpi, is of no help as he stonewalls Jack's efforts to uncover the truth.

Jack uncovers some nasty secrets of the rich and famous, involving sex, blackmail, and includes an interesting cast of characters.

Patterson writes an interesting tale and is a rock-solid read!!!

Summary: Quick read, but also a "quick write"
Review: I would have never read this book, except it was chosen for my book club. I found the plot to be fairly predictable, the characters undeveloped, and the ending hard to buy. Rather than becoming engaged in the story, I kept thinking, I can't believe they published this. The whole book seemed so amateurish. Yes, it is a quick read, but it also seemed like a quick write. The chapters are very short--sometimes only 2 or 3 pages. I wondered if this was done to attract readers with very short attention spans. To me it made the book feel very chopped up. I commented to my book club that you could actually read this whole book in the bathroom, given the way the chapters are written. If you want to read something that is easy, doesn't require you to think, or pay much attention, that you can finish in a couple of days, and your expectations are low, this is the book for you. If you want something that is stimulating, interesting, and worthy of your time, pass this one by.

Summary: Is this guy kidding?
Review: Don't waste your time on this paint-by-numbers thriller. Patterson's story of murder by the rich in the Hamptons is paper thin, and the characters are so cartoonish it makes what is supposed to be a "page-turner" into a thoroughly boring and annoying read. Patterson seems more interested in name dropping and showing off his knowledge of the Hamptons landscape and social scene than in actually telling a compelling story. Don't bother.

Summary: A side trip from the usual
Review: I am an avid Patterson reader and have read all. I enjoy mostly the Cross series, but really did enjoy Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. Beach House is another venture off the Cross series and unfortunately, although I did enjoy it, just not as much as some other novels. I must admit that I did have several instances where time would pass between readings, but I still found it difficult at times to keep up the story line. I found myself going back to re-read sections to remember the names of the charactors and who was who more than usual.
As I said, this is a good Patterson book, no question, just not his usual level of excitement.

Summary: It was An excellent Book!!
Review: I likes this book alot, this is my first time reading a book from James Patterson. I enjoyed it alot, i found it very interesting, plus it had a lot of excitment. I likes the ending alot, because it shoed how much Jack mullen fought to have a fair judgement for this brother's death. You could rate from the begining of the sory what the conflict was about, and figure out the plot quickly after reading the book. But also you could learn and feel something reading it, eventhough about all the secrets and dragedies you read, at the end you found out what a real brother is, and who are the one at the end that helped you through life.

Summary: The Beach House
Review: Jack Mullen a 27-year-old law student, who also happens to be interning at a very high profile New York law firm, returns home to Montauk, a small town within the upscale community of the Hamptons, to the news of his younger brother Peters death. The local police are ruling Peter's death as accidental claiming that he drowned with no plans to investigate it any further. However, according to the medical examiners report it is clear that Peter was beaten to death. Jack, his eighty-six year old grandfather as well as the rest of the town believe that the police department is assisting in the cover up of Peters murder because he was killed at the Hamptons beach house of Barry and Campion Nebauer, one of New York's wealthiest and most powerful families. Now the entire town is trying to figure out what really happened to Peter that night and how the Nebauers were involved. But this is proving to be a very difficult task because someone is going to great lengths to keep the truth about Peter's death under wraps.

I have to admit, despite the low rating of this book, I really enjoyed reading James Patterson's 'THE BEACH HOUSE'. It was a very easy read (I read it in two days) and it held my interest the entire time, especially the last one hundred or so pages, I flew right through them. The way everything plays out is a little bit unbelievable but it is so much fun trying to figure out what is going to happen that I really didn't mind. 'THE BEACH HOUSE' is definitely on of my favorite James Paterson novels.

Summary: A fun, ever-evolving drama
Review: I thought this book started out with a bang and just got better. The characters were believable and the story made me feel as if I was along for the ride as well. I especially liked Jack Mullen because he took charge but at the same time was pretty vulnerable. I listened to this book on CD and Gil Bellows narrated - he did an extremely credible job of it and instead of trying to read in different voices he just read from the heart, it seemed. There was alot of drama, excitement and mystery. All in all I felt this to be a great book!

Summary: A Little Far Out but Believable
Review: This is a story that is a little bit unbelievable but it's fun to read fantasy sometimes. Books are written all the time about people and events being the way we would "like for them to be" and not what is realistic. This is such a book. I almost stood up and cheered when I read the steps one group of people took to bring justice to an unfair situation. The powerful were beaten at their own game and I was thrilled.

Summary: Alex Cross Fan
Review: I am an Alex Cross fan so I picked up this book not knowing if I would like it or not. Patterson did not faile me though. This is a great book for those who like fast paced reads and story-lines.

I look forward to each and every Patterson book now and am scrounging at used stores for his older ones.

Great read!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Short, sweet and to the point.
Review: This is the first Patterson book I have read. The book is short, sweet and to the point. The plot is a bit far fetched, especially as you close towards the finale. It wasnt the most satisfying read or the most complex, but it was fun and I only invested about four hours of my life to read it cover to cover, so I believe that is a bargain.
