Summary: Once is not enough
Review: This book is so well written that I have read it twice. Mr. Lamb's writting style is amazing. I couldn't put this book down. The plot is different than I had expected and normally not what I would read. You will thank yourself for picking up this book.

Summary: A Break Through!
Review: Although I love to read, I have been having trouble lately getting into a book. I would read the first chapter and get bored. This book has been the key! Finally! I felt I really got to know the characters and even found myself dreaming about them when I slept! I wish it didn't have to end.

Summary: It will keep you up all night.
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. It kept me up all hours of the night just to find out who the father was. I'm usually good at guessing things like that half way through other books, but not this time. I also found it made me question my own thoughts and feelings. Well done Wally Lamb, such a great read.

Summary: The best book I have read in a long time!
Review: Finally a book with a happy ending. I love this story! It keeps you turning the page. Although it is a long piece of literature, it flows so smoothly that you don't get bored with it. It never loses its appeal. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. When I finished the book, I felt satisfied with the story, it ties up all loose ends.

Summary: am there-doing that
Review: Being born of Italian heritage (mother and grandparents on both sides) and also having a twin brother, I have a much to relate to. There are many many similarities and differences between my twin and my self. This book allows me to look at these and compare them to these similarities and differences of these fictional twins. As I'm reading I will say to myself "yeah-that's the way twins think" at least that's the way we think. I have always thought that there are no two people who are closer to each other than twins. This author seems to know how to express this. There are few words that can be used that can explain this fully. This author has found a way to come close.

Summary: Another masterpiece by Lamb
Review: Another masterpiece by one of the best authors today. No one can encompass the broad spectrum of human emotion like Wally Lamb can. Dominick Birdsey is someone you want to cry for, laugh at, cheer for, scream at, slap and hug all at the same time. Profoundly sad, by the time Dominick Birdsey gets what he finally deserves in the end, you too will cry tears of joy for this simple man who faced more of life's downs than ups.

Wally Lamb-you ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: an amazing mixture of emotions!
Review: After reading many books I am able to say that Wally Lamb's I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE is, by far, my all time favorite. If you have not read this book you are missing out on a fabulous journey into the life of an identical twin; his emotions, his quest, his hardships. It is long but trust me, it is worth the time. It is the first time a book has sparked so many diferent emotions. . .I laughed, i cried. . .I absolutely loved it!

Summary: Make Dominick your best buddy
Review: Because I bought this book during a very busy time in my life, it took me 2 months to read it, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Every once in a while, a book comes along that changes your entire outlook on life. This book is one of them. Though at times, you will hate Dominick, you will also love him and pray for his life to get back on track.

Dominick is a male Dolores Price ("She's Come Undone") but with less of a sharp tongue and more motivation. He is a stronger creature but he, like Dolores, has lived a very harsh life and is very lost.

After 900 pages, I still wanted the book to go on. Wally Lamb is an amazing writer. When I finish his books, I miss the characters. While you read "I Know This Much Is True" and learn more about the Birdseys and the Tempesta family history, you will feel as though Dominick is your best friend, sharing his glorious triumph over the heartbreak and imperfection of a world which has been both cruel and loving to him.

This is my favorite book of all time.

Summary: Smooth reading, real involvement
Review: As a relatively new novelist, Wally Lamb really makes the grade. Although he favors depessing themes and characters, they come to life in an almost realistic way. Just when you think things couldn't get any worse, they do. Of course, being a boomer helps me relate to the time period of both his novels, the songs referred to as well as the news events. As thick as it is, I didn't skim any part of this book. It was so readable. I felt the anguish of Dominick Birdsley, understood the machismo of his step father Ray, the suppression of his mother, and the fragility of his twin brother Thomas.

The dialouge between Dr. Patel (the twin's psychiatrist) and Dominick was excellent, and very clever, as is other dialouge throughout the book.

This was more than just a story, touching on issues like the mistreatment of mentally ill patients, native American land claims, and the treatment of the police when Dominick and Leo got busted for pot.

His writing seems influenced by John Irvine, with his story within a story. Maybe his grandfather's memoir was the only part that was slightly far-fetched and seemed a bit more like a fairy tale (making two rabbits out of one). I didn't like the use of Italian words within his grandfather's memoir because they were very translatable and there was no reason to keep them Italian. After all, Dominick hired a translater to put it into English.

The end is a bit questionable. Would Dessa really have him back? And the fact that Joy died and left Dominick her child, which replaced his lost child is also stretching it (and wouldn't the child have had some genetic disability, being a child of incest?) not to mention Dominick's discovery of his Indian roots. I felt it would have left more to the readers imagination if we never learned who the real father of Thomas and Dominick was. Inspite of its storybook ending (but this is fiction), I still really liked this book and would highly recommend it. Maybe it is better to leave the reader on a happy note, as there's enough to be depressed about in this world today. As a very busy person with little time for reading, I can't believe how quickly I breezed through almost 900 pages. This is a real "can't put it down" read.

Summary: don't silence this lamb!
Review: after finishing both,"I know this much is true",and "shes come undone", i have found a new favorite author. lamb has spun a yarn that carries one from laughter to tears, from contemporary america to old country europe. the characters are believable, and the premise as real as the five o'clock news. the book gets a little heavy only when the voice of papa dominates the story for too long. fortunately for us, lamb does'nt spend too much time on any one subject, he has too much to say.i think this book can be enjoyed by anyone, especially if you find yourself on your own journey to self-discovery.
