Rating: Summary: keeps you going Review: Very moving. I didn't want the story to end. Reader was excellant. I could close my eyes and it was as if I was watching a movie.
Rating: Summary: This Looooong book is worth every minute it takes to read it Review: This is another deep and emotion-provoking novel by bestselling author Wally Lamb, author of She's Come Undone, another one of my favorites. This book is worthy to be called a "saga" because it explores so many aspects of life and has different stories which cross time periods, generations, and cultures. People Magazine called it "a gratifying saga of loss and redemption", and I definitely agree. This is only a small part of the story, and a small example of Wally's great writing. If you know how complicated life can get, if you ever feel like re-examining your own life, or if you just love a good story that keeps getting more intriguing just when you think it can't possibly be more so, then you will love I Know This Much Is True.
Rating: Summary: I Know this Much to be True Review: I just finished this book and, after 900+ pages, feel that I got to know these characters. I felt that the main character was very human. Delt with problems the way many of us do. I feel the book could have been shortened and still maintained its integrity. All in all, it was a VERY satisfying read.
Rating: Summary: Captivating Review: I Know This Much Is True is a very interesting book. Dominik, the protagonist, is one of the most complex characters I have ever read about. The relationship between Dominik and his brother is the finest part of the book. Sometimes Wally Lamn gets a little sidetracked with a lot of sex, which becomes monotonous after a while, but other than that, it is an excellent read.
Rating: Summary: A good read Review: I had a really hard time getting into this book, but persisted. By about page 200 or so it finally started clicking and I decided to stick with it. Good choice, as it did indeed get better. A good read all around.
Rating: Summary: good Review: this was an excellent book. i loved it all the way through until about the last 5 pages. then everything worked out perfectly for the characters. the characters seemed to make a magical transition from a hopelessly lost path to a sunny paved road. excellent story though. believable. recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Engrossing, complex, well done Review: The main character is no hero, he makes bad choices, uses bad judgement, has difficulty dealing with emotions and communicating. However, through the course of the novel, he learns about himself, his family, and how to be happy instead of angry. This story is complex and engrossing, hard to put down, and ultimately rewarding.
Rating: Summary: Kinda Sorta Review: I kinda liked I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE and I sorta didn't! =) There were times in this book where the rambling just went on and on. I could have cut out about a third of this book and it still would have maintained it's good meaty parts that steal a readers heart. I loved She's Come Undone and while I did LIKE this book, I would never recommend it highly on my things to read list. I would say read it purely for the sake of reading it because there are some twists and unsuspecting turns that are worth talking about but I was sometimes thumbing through parts that were unnecessary.
Rating: Summary: Stunning. Review: A 900-page book that you can't put down? A 900-page book where every bit of it is riveting? I didn't think it could be done--but here it is in this mind-blowing, heart-wrenching tale of two brothers, one mentally ill. My brother is mentally ill, and I'm glad Wally Lamb wrote this story, because now I don't have to.
Rating: Summary: Addicting Review: This was the most captivating book I have read in a long time
