Summary: This book touched my Soul
Review: This book touched my heart and after I finished it, I thought about it for days. The characters became a part of me as I read this book, in a mere 5 days. I couldn't put it down. The ending made me cry, for Dominik, for Thomas, for Ray. I loved this book, one of the best I have ever read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Beautiful book - even with that end.
Review: After reading this book, I was felt slightly let down. Only because of the way, as has been pointed out before, that everything was neatly tied up in the end. However, if we were to ignore the last chapter, this would rank as the best book I have ever read. This book is emotional, telling, and captivating. Every person could identify with at least one character, and the beauty of that is that no character is perfect. Each character's flaws are presented in an objective manner - which leaves the reader responsible for deciding who the hero is. Told in Mr. Lambs typical style of heavy slang, this is a wonderful book.

Summary: I could not put it down!! It was excellent!!
Review: Wally Lamb is one of the best authors of the 90's. He shows a great sense of humor and great sensitivity in his writing. I can't wait for the next novel. I loved this book!!!!

Summary: Absolutely mesmerizing and beautifully done.
Review: I always like to have a book to read for my commute to work. I am not your "avid" book reader. It usually takes me months to finish a 300 page book. If I really like it I'm done in one month. When my sister told me about this book, I said sure, I'll read it next, knowing I already enjoyed Mr. Lamb's work (She's Come Undone was great). I almost died when I saw that it was almost 1000 pages. I said "I'll never finish this". My sister assured me that I would probably surprise myself. Believe me, I did. This book was absolutely the best. It will probably be a while before another tops this one. I couldn't wait to get to the next page. I actually understood why Dominicks mother kept him from knowing the truth. As the character Jack Nicholson once played and said "You can't handle the truth", how true that statement is for some people. As a mother, you know what and when and how to say things to protect your children. Hooray for her. Hooray for Wally Lamb.

Summary: This is the most wonderful book, I have ever read
Review: This book is fantastic. I could not put it down. It is totally absorbing. I put my life on hold while I read this book. It is so well written. I feel like the charecters are my friends and now that I have finnished reading it, I do miss them.

Summary: Excellent story, fast read.
Review: Loved the book. I thought the characters were well developed and very interesting. I loved watching the characters grow and change with each passing crisis. Even someone as arrogant as Domenico Tempesta had something to leave his heir. The end was surprising in some ways and well tied together. Sometimes I like to read a book with no loose ends.l

Summary: A novel worth reading!
Review: This book is long and time consuming, but it is well worth the time and effort put into reading it. It is impossible to put down! Wally Lamb does an excellent job in describing the thoughts, feelings, and struggles that main character Dominick Birdsey encounters in his life. While reading this book, I felt as though I truly knew Dominick and felt his pain, especially the pain and resentment he felt towards his schizophrenic twin brother, Thomas. Lamb's research of the schizophrenic condition really paid off ; the character of Thomas is frighteningly real. Although the book is almost 900 pages in length, Lamb does an excellent job of keeping the pace of the storyline in check; he gets neither long winded nor repetitive at any time during the book. Lamb exhibits that he has an excellent knack for understanding the human psyche and the delicate human condition. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to better understand the human experience. This is one of the best novels that I have ever had the pleasure to read. Kudos to Wally Lamb! He has truly outdone himself with this magnificent novel.

Summary: An author beyond compare
Review: In this novel, Mr. Lamb has provided an example of the best that literary fiction has to offer. It is THE best book that I have had the woderful good fortune to read. He uses complex literary devices seamlessly. He presents multiple levels of meaning in a challenging, but not pretentious, way. The plot has bizarre elements, but it is never hard to believe. He presents a multitude of opportunities for the imagination to wander, but he also keeps a tight rein on the events ensuring that they are all relevant. His characters are excruciatingly real. I cannot imagine how he is able to weave the elements of this complicated story together so effectively. I am anxiously awaiting his next creation!

Summary: Wally Lamb has captured my undivided attention yet again!
Review: I finished this 850-plus book in about three days; I was reading as much as possible amidst my chaotic life. Already, I miss Dominick and Thomas' presence. The author, Wally Lamb, allows the reader to get to know the characters so well that you feel like a part of their lives; you desperately want Dominick to "get a break" in life. I am eagerly awaiting Lamb's next book.

Summary: One of the most memorable books I have ever read.
Review: I am a librarian and an avid reader. I cannot ever remember finishing a book, closing it, and saying "wow". But that's what happened with this book. Had trouble getting started ("Oh no, another weird, dysfunctional family") but by the time the grandfather's story began, I was hooked. A wonderful book.
