Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This book is my favorite out of all four of them. An addition to Alanna's interesting adventures in this book, there is also a romance, that is also very interesting. It made it hard for me to put this book down once I started it because it's such a great book! This would be a perfect book for people that love fantasies and adventures along with romance! IT'S A WONDERFUL BOOK! I suggest you read it along with the other 4 in this series to step into Alanna's world!
Rating: Summary: My favorite book in the entire world! Review: This is the most wonderfully written book ever! The charactersare well-developed and depicted, and the story is so intriguing Icouldn't put the book down for a second! I love all of Tamora Pierce's books, but this one is by far the best! I read this book for the 1st time 2 years ago, but it's still my favorite. I read it at least once a month. It is a great sequel to Alanna: The First Adventure, and I would definately reccomend this series to anyone between the ages of 11 and 15. It's fabulous!
Rating: Summary: The best book by Tamora Pierce! Review: this is absolutely THE best book by tamora pierce! if you haven't read this book, i pity you. but you should read it as soon as you get the chance.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: In the Song of the Lioness. This second book was may all time favorite. When those people said that children aren't not suppose to read this kind of stuff. I think theres no problem nine and twelve years olds are reading this kind of stuff. Tamora Pierce has a great imaganation on this kind of stuff. She imspares me to write just like her, and I'm almost fourteen years old. I say this to Tamora. Keep doing the good work.
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Review: I bought the entire Alanna series for my 10-year- old daughter after reading a favorable review in a newspaper. What I didn't know is that Alanna sleeps with Jonathan at the end of the book. The Earth Goddess gives Alanna a charm to prevent pregnancy and encourages her to "learn to love." In the next book in the series, Alanna continues to sleep with Jonathan. Jonathan asks Alanna to marry him, but she doesn't want to, and they have a fight. So Alanna goes to see her friend George and ends up sleeping with him. I think that parents should be aware that Alanna is depicted as a heroine who is in charge of her own destiny, and part of that destiny is becoming sexually involved with men. To some this may not be an admirable quality that they want their daughters to emulate.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: I'm 18 now, and have read this series several times. You would think I'd be tired of it, but... I love this book. I discovered it in the local library a few years ago and have since read all of Ms. Pierce's work. Even though her books are written for a young age group, they are still enjoyable. Alanna is one of my favorite heroines ever, and this is my favorite in the series, probably because it was the first I read. Anyways, five stars all the way!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: I absolutely love In the Hand of the Goddess! It's a fantastic book! Although some people dislike it because; Alanna slept with Jonathan, and and he tried to "make out" with her. Also George and Jonathan both kissed her. But who cares? Wake up people! I mean you had to see it coming. Come on! Alanna and Jonathan are teenagers,(hormones) and George is probably 22. And he is looking for a wife! Also people say this book is not for 9 year olds, but they should and do know about that stuff! So i say go out there and read this book,I strongly recommend it! so get yourself anice cool pitcher of lemonade, and a lawn chair, and settle down for a nice long read.
Rating: Summary: Okay Review: I thought that this was an okay book. If you ask me, I really didn't like the Jonathan-Alanna relationship. Maybe I'm being a little silly, but I think it would be a lot better if Alanna went with George, the King of Thieves. Otherwise, it was a good book.
Rating: Summary: Lovin' the book all the way! Review: Why are all you reviewers so harsh on this book? it was an exciting read and I finished it in a day. Oh sure, there was romance in it but why not? It gave the book something more than just your typical brave hero book. This book has an awesome quality to it. It combines magic, suspence, drama, action, and romance (all you people who thought that shouldn't have been there shouldn't have read the book!). The characters are depicted so well that you can almost think that you are in the book and standing next to Alanna as she goes through everything. I think this book was written wonderfully and there is no doubt in my mind that any one could have thought of it in a horrible way. I loved this book and the ntire series and all the other books that Tamora Pierce has written. It's a page turner and a definitely stay-up-until-the-middle- of-the-night-to-finish-book. All you readers who have loved every other series that Pierce has written will definately love this series too.
Rating: Summary: I HATE PEOPLE THAT HATE THIS BOOK Review: Now, if you don't like this book, I suggest you see a psychiatrist, a doctor, or the floor after a 60 foot long drop. This books was filled with action, fun, humor, deep internal questioning (just kidding), and great characters. So there you stupid people! Although I played a small part in this book, I thought I added a great deal of character and enigmatic thoughts. By the way, I have now graduated from the City of the Gods, and you should be able to find me in your locall graveyard. If you need any supernatural help, just call. FAREWELL! (not).
