Rating: Summary: Joey Pigza Swallowed The Key Review: I feel that Joey Pigza Swallowed The Key deserves a nine out of ten. I could relate to the book because I have a cousin who has A.D.D and his dad left his mom and the family, and in the book Joey's dad leaves the family. I liked the book because it has a lot of adventure and I could relate to it. There is a lot more things in the book but it all happens at the end so you'll have to read the book to find out more. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure and to people who hate to read. By: Michelle N.
Rating: Summary: Joey Pigza Swallowed the key Review: I like Joey Pigza because he is funny and he makes to many mistakes too learn not to do it again. My favorite part is when he learns how to sit stil because now he won't have to go out in the hallway. If he didn't sharpen his finger in a pencil sharpener. I read the book because some told me about it...
Rating: Summary: A Wired Book! Review: Joey Pigza isn't your average kid but can't help it. He blames it on the dud-meds. It is sort of gross when he describes vividly his encounter with the key. I liked the fact how everyone was so nice to him except the kids who knew about his incident with the scissors. It is gross and funny all at the same time. I reccommend it to those with a sturdy stomach!
Rating: Summary: What a weird book! Review: This, I think, is the weirdest book I've ever read! He does some crazy things, such as swallowing his key to house just for the fun of it! One part really made me cringe. That's when he's sharpening pencils. He decides he wants to have sharp fingernailsjust like vampires. So he sharpens his nail and it rips his fingernail right off!Ugh!
Rating: Summary: 5 point boost for pigza Review: This book was very funny. I really liked the book. I liked it because the stunts he pulled hooked me into the book and made me read more. If you ever have a chance to read this book you will probably like it from the first word to the last words. this book is hilarious and sad. If you've read it and your teacher gives you a book report on it you will get an A.
Rating: Summary: DON'T READ! Review: This was one of the most disgusting books I have ever read. The author couldn't describe things weirder. He describes something as 'turd flavored' and he couldn't get the more grosser and embarrassing looks of humans. This is a strange, deranged book.
Rating: Summary: Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key Review: Title: Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key By: Jack Gantos ... Joey Pigza is a wired boy. He always gets into trouble at school. He never does anything right. When his teacher calls on him he always raises his hand but replys, " Can I get back to you on that?" His mother and father left him when he was little so his grandmother took care of him. She was a little wired though. His dad left and his mother followed right after him. Later, his mother comes back but gets in arguments with his grandma that she leaves too. Now he is stuck with his mom.At shcool he does some horrible stuff like sharpening his finger! He evem swallowed his house key! His mom gives him medicine everyday but still he is bad when the medicine is gone. His teacher can't stand him anymore so he get sent to a special ED place where he learns to be a good boy. They teach him there and he does better. Thats how he changes and becomes a good boy. I really dislike this book. I think it was a dumb book. It was boring when i read it. I guess i just don't like to read these kinds of books. It wasn't interesting at all. They kept saying " I'm wired".I thought it was very sick when he swallowed the key and how it came back out. It made me almost barf. I don't like this book and i don't want to read anything like this again. I don't like to read stories about kids like Joey. It annoys me how kids are like that. He even has to drink medicine for his personality. Don't you think that's sort of weird? I never heard of anything like that. " Go drink you medicine Joey"! His mom would always say that. That is why I don't like this book. My least favorite part of the story is when he swallowed the key. That was nasty. Then, something that was nastier was that he pulled it back out and showed it to people in his class. The people in the class even laughed! Who would laugh at something like that? I don't think the book made sense. Well, that is what I disliked about the book.
Rating: Summary: Joey, a kid just like many kids today!!! Review: The book, Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key, is written by Jack Gantos. It is about a boy named Joey who can't control himself. He grew up with his Grandma, while his mother went looking for Joey's dad. After a few years she came back and the frustrated Grandma moved away. Joey really hated Grandma for torturing him by telling him lies like, "your mother isn't coming back until you've taken a bath and is sitting still a chair." Then when he'd move his Grandma would pick up the phone and say, "what you're not coming because Joey's not sitting up straight?" Joey still loves his Grandma even though she puts him through that. Joey's mother really loves Joey even though he misbehaves everyday. Swallowing the his home key is just one of the problems he causes during class. When I started reading this, I thought Joey was a stupid little kid that can't do what he is told. He can't pay attention and he can't settle a day without doing something wrong. Although sometimes his misbehavior is because he cares, he can't get the rules down to do something right. After reading this book, I think it's all about positive attitude. I think the pills and patches don't do a thing. If Joey actually knows he can do it, he can. The new Joey came from his positive attitude. The reason I disliked the book was because I got frustrated after reading problem after problem. Things keep happening just because Joey doesn't have self control. "I looked up and there was Maria Dombrowski writing my name down on a pad because Mrs. Maxy told her to keep a list of the students who 'got out of line.'" This was just a field trip and Joey wasn't given any shoofly pie because it had too much sugar. But Joey really wanted it, so when no one was looking he took a piece and ate it. Soon he became so hyper that he almost hurt himself. That's when he got in big trouble. If the author didn't put Joey getting in trouble so much, there wouldn't be a book. So I think I just get annoyed because too many people are just like Joey, but don't have any serious condition. The reason I liked this book was because whatever Joey does usually has good intentions. "Everyone wanted the candle blown so I stepped forward, took a big breath, and when I let it out I made Harnold's wish come true." They were celebrating Harnold's birthday in school and Harnold was trying to blow the candles out but only bubbles came out. Joey stepped in and blew it. He got in trouble for his good intentions. Since he broke one of the rules in school, he got in trouble with the teacher. Joey actually had a good intention that he didn't somehow get trouble for. "And Mrs. Cole told us to do one really good thing today," Joey said to Mrs. Holyfield, the nurse. Later in the day she talked to Joey again and said, "It seems some secret admirer of mine left me a slice of cinnamon apple in my drawer." Joey, finally accomplished something without getting in trouble. My favorite part was when he swallowed his home key. '"What'll you give me if I swallow this?" Joey whispered. "A buck," he said. I opened my mouth to show Seth and he was pretty amazed and dug into his pocket and gave me a buck.' Before he swallowed it he had put it down his mouth many times before, but that time he had a string. So when he got it down his throat, he pulled it up. But Mrs. Maxy saw him doing this and told him to take it out so she could cut the string. Forgetting that Mrs. Maxy had cut the string he then got money for really swallowing a key. Joey was faking it to get some money but he really did it. It even gets funnier! The school nurse decides that she's going to let the key take its natural course. In other words, he has to poop it out! When he does he fishes for the key in his poop and cleans it. That was my favorite part of the whole book.
