Rating: Summary: Insightful and Entertaining Review: I wish that this book had been around when I was a teacher. Jack Gantos did an excellent job of portraying the out-of-control feelings of a kid with ADHD. I remember how frustrated, and sometimes angry, I'd become with my own students who couldn't sit still for thirty seconds at a time. This book gave me a glimpse into the frustrations that go on inside the head of an ADHD kid. The serious nature of the topic was handled with deft humor, which kept the book from ever becoming too heavy or depressing. I also appreciated the fact that the teachers weren't portrayed as "the bad guys," but as concerned adults who just didn't always "get" what was going on with Joey. I'd recommend this book for any teacher, and as a funny class read aloud that could lead to some good discussion.By the way, my 67-year-old father who was staying with me picked up this book and read it all in one sitting, giving it the high praise of "this is a pretty good book."
Rating: Summary: Joey the wonderboy Review: My only real criticism of this book is that it seems written above the age level indicated for it. Mr. Gantos uses language that many high school students will be hard pressed to understand. When I saw this book in my recommendations it said ages 8-12. This book, written in the first personal point of view is more suited for a high school sophmore or to be read to the age group that it was intended for. Joey's struggle with his ADD is something that kids need to hear about. And Joey is very likable, you almost want to read the sequel ( I did). Also some of the details , like the situation which the book takes it title from might gross out an eight year old. Still, I recommend this book very highly for teachers to read to their classes to help them understand students with ADD>
Rating: Summary: An eye opener Review: As a 5th grade teacher I have had ADHD students in my class and I have read up on ADHD. This book did more for me to understand these children then any scientific paper because the students that were on Ritalin were enpowered to discuss how they feel. The other students asked a hundred questions and I saw how relaxed my students became with the issue - and it is a growing issue. The book is well written and often hysterical and tear-jerkingly sad. Read it.
Rating: Summary: Joey Pigza Review: I think Joey Pigza Swallowed the key was hilarius! It was a great book. Joey is always losing it when his "dud" meds wear off, and he is always in troble in school until he lands in a special ed center. I also like how the end of the story turns out.
Rating: Summary: Joey Pigza Rating Response Review: I loved this book! It gave me a chance to experience life through the eyes of a child with a problem like"ADHD". It really showed me that someone with that problem needs help, and it is not their fault that they do things. They cannot control the way they act. I think that Jack Gantos really did a deed by writing this book. It might even stop people from overreacting when children do wrong. I really enjoyed readibng this book.
Rating: Summary: Joey pigza was the funneist book ever Review: I think this was the funniest book ever because he always got out of control and got in trouble.another reason why it was funny was because he always said " can I get back to yuo on that".

Rating: Summary: Nice! Review: This is a funny book but had some downsides. Joey has Add and can,t pay attention. As he is a trouble-maker at school his home life is rough. His father left him and his mother went after him. Joey was left with his grandma who is mentaly sick. This a realy good book so try it out.
Rating: Summary: Joey Pigza rating Review: I liked this book because stuff that happens to Joey happens to other kids too. But I feel bad for Joey because he cant' help what he does.
