Rating: Summary: A Fascinating Outlook on Life Review: Primrose's parents are lost at sea, and only she thinks they are alive. She lives through everything imaginable, including hearing ghosts play hockey; listening to boring anecdotes from someone who everyone thinks has a life but doesn't,and who spends her time trying to prove Primrose is going crazy and is not being adequetly taken care of by her Uncle Jack. Other things she deals with are: having foster parents; learning how to make cinnamon buns to help sell real estate; and then some. All the while she never loses hope that her parents will return. Told completely in the first person, this book shows that love, beyond all things otherwise, and faith, can defy evidence, and perhaps it is her faith that proves the truth. This book is extremely amazing, showing that there may be hard dilemmas in the meantime, but eventually you'll get to the waffle.
Rating: Summary: Everything on a Waffle Review: The book I have been reading in "Everything on a Waffle" by Polly Horvath. It is a great book she got a Newbery Honor for it. This book was the best; it had a lot of detail to it and explained everything clearly. I really liked this book a lot!!!
After a young girl Primrose lost both of her parents , she got moved around place to place she couldn't handle it, after awhile she got foster parents and she was sad, a big accident happened but there was a miracle came with it.
The setting of the story was a great. It was very easy to read it because you could tell where they were. It was easy to tell because they came right out and said it. The setting took place at a restaurant and at her uncle's home.
The authors writing style was great and it was easy to follow and understand. She didn't jump to conclusion he took his time and explained it all. She but all the little details to make sure people knew what she was talking about.
This was a fantastic book to read and I really enjoyed it. I could read this book more than once. I couldn't believe the ending of this book it was great!! I recommend this book to anyone who loves great ending with surprises!!
Rating: Summary: Everything on a Waffle Review: The book is about a girl named Primrose Squarp's problems in life. She has had problems ever since that one rainy day when her dad was out on his boat and rhe waves were brewing when her mom went out on their skiff to save him. In this book it starts out slow but it gradually gets better. This book also has large amounts of suspense. One thing I didn't like about the book is that it ended the way I thought it would. This book is about one girls fight to impress her uncle fit in and keep belief that her parents are still alive. My favorite thing about this book was that it was interesting through the whole thing and it always kept you guessing. This was a good book.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!! Review: This book is action packed. It is about a girl named Primrose whoes parents are stranded on an island. She is taken care of by her friendly uncle, but he is very busy. Read the book to find out more. Zippy
Rating: Summary: Love it Review: This book is highly amusing and funny! My famly is reading it aloud and is not yet done, but already love it! The story is about Primrose, who's parents disapeared at sea. Everyone thinks they're dead but Primrose. Her Uncle Jack, a realtor, now is her guardian. Although his heart is in the right place, he just isn't the best guardian. Other characters include the psychology-obsessed Miss. Honeycut- the British guidance counselor for Primrose's school, who has a crush on Uncle Jack. Then there's the owner of the restaurant in Primrose's hometown, Mrs Bowzer, who has her own opinion about everything. Other than that, see Ms Perfidy, an old woman who took care of Primrose the time before Uncle Jack came. The whole book is mostly about the FUNNY adventures of Primrose, who narrates the book with many comical comments on everyone's actions. If you want a good read, this is one!

Rating: Summary: Nice book... No point Review: This book was VERY boring. All it was about was a girl who loses her parents in some stupid boat accident and has to live with someone. Anyway, it is a very boring book with boring captions and jokes that weren't even funny. I put this book down when I was halfway through it. If your wondering if you should buy it, my answer is NO.
Rating: Summary: Everything on a Waffle Review: This is an adventurous fiction. This story is about Primrose Squarp- a young girl who simply knows her mother and father did not perish at sea during a terrible storm- She fails at convincing the other residents of Coal Harbour on that detail. For the time being, Primrose is an orphan and there's a larger problem: nobody feels the need to adopt her. She is in the care of Miss Perfidy, a "mothball-scented elderly lady". But, there is an hourly wage to baby-sit her. So, the town council is able to contact a relative, Uncle Jack-a funny, "not moth smelling" man, who enjoyed the company in his small house- took her in. Primrose enjoys this more, with the exception of the eerie noises like a hockey game haunting her in the night. But true happiness was found at a restaurant called, The Girl on the Red Swing, where everything-including lasagna- will be found on a waffle. This might be surprising at first but then it is like an old buddy. My favorite part was the end. It was a happy and joyous moment. I also liked the recipes at the end of every chapter. The fact that nobody else except Primrose thought that her parents were still alive stood out for me, because it was a sad part and this could have left her discouraged. It was an excellent book. I recommend this story to someone who likes adventures, problem solving and just a fun book. It was a pleasure reading it and I think others will have a delightful time too. I will give this book a 9 as a rating because it was an adventurous and sad story, yet also fun. I recommend that people should read and judge for themselves. Review by, Caitlin
Rating: Summary: Above average--shy of great Review: This is an enjoyable book, and at moments a very funny book, but the conclusion is so predictible that dramatic tension is lost overall. The book pivots more on characters than on plot, yet many of the characters remain caricatures and the main character, Primrose, could stand more growth as the novel proceeds. Still, the book has a lot of charm and Primrose is an unsentimental, self-confident character--a good example of a child who realizes it's more important to believe in herself and her opinions than to cave in to others for the sole benefit of "pleasing" them. Unfortunately, Horvath is a bit uneven with Primrose, who occasionally seems out of character with certain statements or thoughts (i.e. sometimes Primrose sounds like a puppet, mouthing the author's insights, rather than her own). The recipes given at the end of each chapter are perfect for young cooks and add more "flavor" to this quirky book. Young readers can make the recipes themselves and feel even more involved in the story, as though they were trying out a friend's recipes. Bottom line: worth reading and quick to engage your attention.
Rating: Summary: something different Review: Unique book. Horvath finishes each chapter with a recipe for kids to make, and the ingredients tie in with the story. Example: "I have hair the color of carrots in an apricot glaze (recipe to follow)..." The main character has lost her parents but refuses to accept that they may be dead--a heavy subject, yet the book is a light, humorous read.
