Summary: Flat Stanley is the best children's book ever!
Review: I was recently reading a book to the daughter of a friend. When I thought about my favorite childrens book, Flat Stanley came to mind. I have asked several of my friends about it. None of them remembered. Finally, I talked to my sister. She remembered. We shared some Flat Stanley memories and had a big laugh. I am going to buy this book for all of my friends and their children. It is nice to know that so many others appreciate Flat Stanley too.

Review: I, too, remember reading this book as a child. It's good to see I'm not alone when I say I love this book and all the memories it conjures up.

Summary: 4th Grade Project Using Flat Stanley
Review: Jeff Brown wrote a neat little story in 1964 about Stanley. Poor Stanley! He went to sleep one night and a bulletin board fell on him. OUCH! Life presents many strange twists and Stanley was forced to acclimate himself to a two-dimensional reality.

Stanley's vacation was up in the air. How was he going to visit his friend in California¿ Mom and Dad (as always) came to the rescue. Since a train ride would not be possible and an airplane was too expensive, it was decided to fold Flat Stanley, stick a stamp on him and drop in the nearby mailbox. Oh, what fun Stanley had!

Classes have used this story for years to learn how to write letters. By making their own Stanleys, students send them to friends, family, politicians and ask them to take Stanley on an adventure! We have seen letters from Stanleys who went to Antarctica, were photographed with President Clinton and visited other interesting places. We thought it would be neat to send Stanleys about the globe via e-mail.

Last year we had a wonderful response to this project. Our Stanleys circled the globe. There was so much interest that we were featured in Internet Family Fun, a book for families. Look on page 124!

We will be offering this project again this year. By the end of September, we should be ready to go with a new army of Stanleys to take on the world. If you would like to care for him by taking him on an adventure and e-mailing us what you two did, please reserve your spot now and contact us. Pictures are great and any information you can share with us about your locality would be welcomed.

We also hosted a few Stanleys from around the world last year. Whenever we had a visitor, we planned a special adventure for our guest. A favorite spot seemed to be a visit to the shore, most notably, historic Cape May. We sincerely believed that Stanley should write about his travels. --This text refers to the Paperback edition

Summary: Beware of Overhanging Bulletin Boards
Review: Just recently I recalled my all time favorite children's book--Flat Stanley. I proceeded to tell all of my graduate student buddies about it to jar their recollections. All of them accused me of delirium due to too much studying. But now I am exonerated as I can finally prove to my friends that Flat Stanley does indeed exist. I will be giving them Flat Stanley as a graduation gift

Summary: Childhood Treasure Found
Review: Like another reviewer, I too read and loved Flat Stanley as a child. Not just 6 months ago, I inquired about the book for my seven year old daughter at Barnes and Noble, to no avail. I was thumbing thru a Yahoo magazine the other day(I had never read it before!)and found out about a nation-wide Flat Stanley Project! Kinda like Carmen Sandiego, kids all over the country bring Stanley to their home towns. I'm soo thrilled that a new generation of children has discovered Stanley, I'm ordering the book for my daughter(and me!) today.

Summary: Flat Stanley Is Fabulous
Review: My wife read this book to her first grade class. They loved the book especially the innovative way Stanley went to visit his friends in California. After reading the book the class was inspired to send Stanley to visit other first grade classes in far away cities. So, Stanley is still "going and going" long after the original reading. A truly great book.

Summary: Flat Stanley - A young reviewer from NJ
Review: One morning Stanley woke -up to find himself flat. He can slip under doors and do all sorts of new things. His little brother Arthur is very jealous. I recommend this book.

Summary: Flat Stanley
Review: One morning Stanley woke up, and he was flat because a heavy bulletin board falls on him. The rest of the book tells about his adventures, like being mailed to California in an envelope, and pretending to be a picture in a museum to catch sneak thieves. Eventually, Stanley gets tired of being flat, even though he is famous for catching the thieves. It is his brother Arthur who uses a bicycle pump to blow him up. Then life can get back to normal. Follow up activities:Children do a craft and writing assignment which I call "I'm Flat and That's That." First, I give them a small ball of play dough and they make themselves and flatten it out on a piece of writing paper. They trace it and draw in the details and then remove the play dough. They write a story about themselves being flat and how they got like that, what happened, etc. They love this book and activity!
