Summary: OK.
Review: I always order a couple novels a month from Amazon and June's picks were "The Triumph and the Glory" and "The Face of Deception". I thought Triumph was fantastic, but was disappointed with Johansen's book. It just seemed so convoluted and contrived, with characters I had a hard time accepting as realistic in manner or motivation.

Summary: Disapointing
Review: I absolutely loved Ms. Johansen's first two books in this genre, so I was really looking forward to this one. But what a disapointment. The characters were completely unsympathetic and uninteresting as was the plot. Sorry Iris, I'm skipping the next one.

Summary: Wow!
Review: I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down. It was gripping from start to finish. I hated for it to end. I can hardly wait to get my hands on The Killing Game. I don't usually buy hardbacks(too expensive in my opinion), but I will definitely make an exception in this case. Eve was great!

Summary: What is she on?
Review: I wonder if I'm the only reader who found Eve Duncan to be suspiciously similar to Eve Dallas, the lead character in J.D. Robb's In Death series. Same name, both deal with death, both have billionare love interests, both are tough, both have a painful past.

The thing is, J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts) does it much, much better. If you want REAL romantic suspense, then check out Eve Dallas and Roarke. They are characters who you can feel for and understand.

All the characters of Ms. Johanson's Face of Deception have little personality and are predictable. I didn't like Eve-- the tough woman persona was pushed a little too far. I didn't like Logan-- boring and a liar. I didn't like Joe-- what is he, Superman? And his obsession for Eve was weird.

The suspense was ok, though dragged out and farfetched. But labeling the book as a ROMANTIC suspense was total bull.

And worst of all, she is dragging out these lifeless characters for another book so we can see is she picks Joe or Logan and if she ever finds her daughter's body.

Now I'm left wondering one question: Who cares?

Summary: Couldn't put it down! Wonderful intense page-turner!
Review: I first began reading Johansen's Long After Midnight book. That got me started. I loved that book so tried the next one I found. This book is excellent! Couldn't put it down and it was very fast moving and very in depth. And talk about twists and turns...I love the way she shocks you with a whole change of plans. Great read and now I'm looking to read the rest of her books.

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: Not since Patricia Cornwell and her wonderful Scarpetta series have I found a book that I couldn't put down. Eve Duncan is a strong and compelling charater and I thought this book was wonderful. I read it it two days and can not wait for the sequel. If you enjoy a good forensic mystery then this is the book to read!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fantastic. I can't wait until her next book comes out!
Review: I am a forensic nut. I love the challenge of putting the pieces of a puzzle together to come up with "the answer". Don't start reading this book unless you have time to finish it. You won't be able to put it down. The book is about the fascination of forensic sculpting as well as murder, intrigue and even a bit of romance.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fascinating page turner. 5 Stars!
Review: "The Face of Deception" was great. I didn't think anything could top the impact "The Triumph and the Glory" had on me, but this novel did. It is brilliant, an intriguing study in character development in a mystery. Very, very well done!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: The book suffers from plonking predictablility.
Review: "No," she said.

Logan narrowed his gaze at her.

Eve stiffened.

Margaret left the room to take care of something.

Joe stood protectively over Eve while managing to dangerously intimidate Logan.

"Yes, you will," Logan said.

Eve stiffened.

That about sums it up, folks.

Summary: Excellent! I couldn't put it down!
Review: I read this book in just two days - and then bought The Ugly Duckling and read that in 1 1/2 days! I really love her style of writting and I can't wait for The Killing Game to come out!

This book is suspensful and sexy and smart. I think I may have just found myself a new favorite author (sorry Koontz...)
