Rating: Summary: Four Stars!!! Review: The Face of Deception is an action packed thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I give this book four stars because the characters were depicted well and the plot was very captivating. From the first page, to the last one, the reader is asking himself, "What will happen next." I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good suspense. This is definitely a best seller!
Rating: Summary: I'm now a fan of Iris Johansen! Excelent read!!! Review: This was the first book I read by Iris Johansen. Basically becasue all of her previous books were romance novles and I prefer the mystery/suspense/thriller. This book not only grabed me hook, line, and sinker but also marked me a fan of Iris Johansen's. This book is GREAT if you are into John Sanford, Tami Hoag, Patricia Cornwell, and Thomas William Simpson. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in a few hours. Afterwards I checked when her next book would be available, "The Killing Game". I now own all of Iris Johansen's mysteries and I can't wait for her future ones. I don't like to say what the stories about or give too much into the details, becasue for me that ruins it, but I will tell you that if you enjoy page-turners, action, unbelieveable twists and turns, suspense, excelent detail but not too much to where your reading what the character's "long flowing hair" looks like in five pages worth of reading. This read is a good one and you will be hooked into buying the following books, The Killing Game and The Search. They're great too!
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. I look forward to the one that will follow with anticipation. I have become a big fan of Johansen ever since I read The Ungly Duckling, which I also recommend. This book is full of suspence and is definately a page turner. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait to read The Killing Game. Review: This was my first Iris Johansen novel and I found it to be great. I am glad I read it first before The Killing Game because it lays out the characters' backgrounds and personalities a lot better, especially Logan. I really like Eve's character. She is easy to understand and you really feel for the loss of her daughter. I am beginning to read The Killing Game and already have The Search on the sidelines to read next. I can't wait.
Rating: Summary: New author captures my interest Review: Someone recommended that I read Iris Johansen - "She's your kind of author", they said. Were they ever right! From page one until the end I was fascinated by the story so cleverly woven by Iris. I could relate to her characters, their moods, motivations, emotions, and sympathies. Eve Duncan, haunted by her daughter's murder, pursues every avenue to locate not only her body but the bodies of others - to bring them home. She is intrigued by an elusive request by John Logan whom she instantly distrusts, yet agrees to help him uncover a terrifying coverup by using her talent of forensic sculpting. This occupation fascinated me. Her impeccable approach to detail leads to a bizarre finding with some surprising consequences and hidden agendas and a revealing love interest or should I say interests. Eve never quite trusts anyone except Joe Quinn who shatters her ideal image of him as the story progresses. She is very protective of her mother with whom she has reconciled and Joe, her protector, and does everything possible to keep them safe when she realizes she is in real danger with only Logan to rely on. The end came too swiftly, but this is not finished yet. The only part I disliked was Bonnie's appearances (I'm not into conversing with the dead) thus the 4 stars!! However I can't wait to find out if Eve is successful in her original quest of finding Bonnie and true love which she desperately needs in her up to now solitary life. Who will be the lucky guy and will Eve finally come to grips with Bonnie's death? Another Iris Johansen novel to devour !! I can't wait.
Rating: Summary: More Than 5 Stars Review: This book has it all, love, hate, suspense, terror and so much more. Its my opinion that this book would make a great movie. This book was about a woman (Eve Duncan) who had some really rotten events happen in her life. She does her best to over come her past with a little help from her friends. She goes to college and becomes a forensic sculptor, in the process, to bring home her past and set it to rest. But when John Logan comes into her life and gives her a offer she couldn't refuse, her life, her familys life, her friends lives and also John Logan him selfs life put into one of the most risky and dangerous position, * politics and murder*. I couldn't put this book down, it was fast paced and I found myself picturing which actors and actresses would play which part. If you like suspense and a great story line, then this is a must read!
Rating: Summary: Very Good! Review: I was totally involved. Didn't want the story to end. Recommend Highly!
Rating: Summary: Best of Johansen's Romantic Suspense Endeavors Review: In general, I thoroughly enjoy Johansen's work. I read a lot of different genres, and in every genre, there are good authors and there are bad authors. Johansen is a good author -- her writing flows well, and her characters are interesting. While I think that Johansen's work, both her romances and her romantic suspense, grow formulaic if you read a number of them (as I have), this is definitely one of her best. The inclusion of forensic sculpture and Eve's pain over her daughter's death definitely made the story more complex than normal, and I thoroughly enjoyed the "romantic triangle." If you're going to pick up a Johansen, make it this one.
Rating: Summary: happily ever after? Review: I have read all of Iris Johanson's books and enjoy the romance, suspense and interaction between the characters. The fact that her characters are unique individuals, each bringing something of their life into her stories, makes the storyline more complicated and interesting. This book was somewhat disappointing. Always, before, her books had a happy ending; this time there was no ending. For the readers who look toward romance to make their lives a little more interesting, this lack of an "forever after" made us very unhappy.
Rating: Summary: Face of Deception Review: Twists, turns, tricks and more. I listened to the audio version of this book and was drawn in to the story, first thinking it improbable and then appreciating how completely I was involved. This was the first Johanson novel; I've already started another one.
