Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Term Limits
Review: I found V. Flynn's writing style to be highly entertaining, while still acomplishing what he set out to do: write a political thriller. His characters are well developed and easy to love/hate. I really enjoyed this work because it made me wonder- how much of the story line of this book is possible? The answer may scare you.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Fun and Entertaining
Review: I hadn't heard of Vince Flynn until I received Term Limits as a gift. Now I can't wait to read Transfer of Power. I found Flynn's first book entertaining and exciting with a great balance of detail and action. The characters were clearly developed and not tediously so. This book has everything I like in a novel. I had fun from start to finish and highly recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: 'Another tale of politicians and commandos'
Review: You would think that I would have enjoyed this book; afterall, the protagonist has the same name as I. By the very truth of it, however, this book bored the devil out of me. If you are reading this book as your first novel of this genre, well, then, you may love it. For me, this book offered nothing new; the characters are typical; the dialogue is weak and paltry; there are too many 'covert-commando' cliches, and the plot is the same old 'political-thriller' rubbish. The book is trendy and fits into the mold of 1990 fiction. If you are looking for something new, something creative and different, I advise reading another tale.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not Exactly Impressed
Review: Elements are here for a great book. Plot is strong, but motive is weak. Renegade Congressman assasin is barely believable.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: A truly hideous novel
Review: I'm not sure what disturbs me more -- the reckless and dangerous plot or how poorly written this book is. To summarize, Flynn argues that the people in a democracy have the right to assasinate their leaders when their political values are being ignored. Is this guy for real? Democracy is about the will of the majority -- if the majority vote in a set of politicians, the rest must accept the outcome and work to elect representatives who share their views. A novel about political killings is fine...but not a book that argues that murder is justified (as this one does).

As for the book itself, it is very poorly written. Charachter development is non-exsistant, the dialogue is so bad it's funny and the pacing can't hold a candle to Clancy or Grisham. Avoid this reckless, awful book.

Summary: Couldn't put it down!
Review: I just stumbled on to this, but I loved it. To be honest, this is the best read I'd had in years. It's right from my heart. I hate Washington politicians, and something drastic has to be done, but it has to be done just right. A good summery would be a thinking man's "Turner Diaries."

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Definite must-read...
Review: Very well written and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I was very impressed with this first offering, the characters were very well developed, the book had a very interesting plot line with some nice twists, and the author was very adept at showing you things instead of telling you things.

Summary: Move over Jack Ryan, here comes Michael O'Rourke
Review: A fast paced and Fun read. Not to techie and long winded but packs a Clancy punch that Tom needs to get back to. Vince has created a cast of characters that could be used over and over with many different situations and I hope he does. Who the heck cares about the political aspects of the book which I will not expand upon but read this for the ride and you'll not be sorry

Summary: good start, disappointing ending
Review: I always like a book where people go after the government (little guys go up against big guys), but this book manages to take a theme that I am pre-disposed to like, and wreck it. There is some good action (hence the 2 star rating), but the thing that destroys this book is the lack of resolution at the end. Maybe there is going to be a sequel (???), but frankly, getting ripped off by a poor ending means I am unlikely to buy another book by this author.

What I mean by this is the very reason that the group goes after the government (to make it balance the budget -- yeah even that is a little lame) is not resolved. Yes, there is plenty of neat action and so on, but after all the expenditure of energy and ordnance, does the budget get balanced? No answer to this left me feeling thoroughly ripped off and angry.

Readers who are predisposed to enjoy this type of genre should go buy John Ross' "Unintended Consequences" instead.

Summary: And they call TOM CLANCY a jingoist?!?!
Review: Click on over to any of his books and that term's all over "customer reviews". But he's chump change in that respect alongside this Flynn dude. Look at the blurbs from book reviewers on the inside cover of this book and it's "Clancy look back--someone's gaining on you". The difference is that Jack Ryan & co. come across as ADULTS rather than overgrown adolescents. This story starts with commando-style hits on a congressman and two senators. But everyone from the press to the White House to the freshman congressman who's Our Hero is saying "They deserved to die". It struck me along about the third repetition that if this were a movie, I'd be lip-synching the remark and annoying other viewers. And you will notice that there are no positive minority characters here--none whatever. Instead, what we get is a slighting reference to a black congresswoman by one character--he thinks all she does is obsess on political correctness and look for racists around every corner, plus the fact that one of the commandoes makes himself up to LOOK black. In fact, with few exceptions, the book is "Eire-o-centric" to the point of aw-come-on. I know that as a "Kraut-Mick" myself it isn't supposed to bother me, but it really grates on me. The whole message here is that elected officials are all self-serving and don't belong in office, but if you carry that too far, it verges on disrespect for the voter. I mean hell-oooo? Real people voted for this "shadow government". Real Americans. In the real world, I myself voted for two senators and one congressman. It's getting to the point where "unworthiness for office " simply means "my party's guy should've won". Yeah yeah yeah, it's trendy to talk that way nowadays. But so are the Spice Girls.
