Rating: Summary: Joining Review: I really liked this book. I thought it was very good and the chemistry between the two was great. I am a great fan of Joanna Lindsey and I was happy to see a new book come out.
Rating: Summary: Not Johanna Lindsey's best work Review: Although I'm a big fan of JL, I would suggest waiting until the paperback is out. Don't spend the money on the hardcover version, it's not worth it. It's a pleasing story, but without any bite, and very little romance. On a scale of 1-10, Joining is a 5. Did Johanna actually write this?
Rating: Summary: Entertaining to the End Review: I am sorry to hear that so many did not enjoy this book. I enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. I didn't enjoy her last book so I was very pleased with this one. I loved the tension between Mili and Wulf. I think she could have shown us more into the characters, especially why Mili was the way she was. I totally enjoyed it and am thinking of buying it in paperback.
Rating: Summary: tripey trite Review: I thought this book was absolutely hopeless. Despite the description that Mill was supposed to be strong minded, I thought she never demonstrated this and especially at the end where she allowed herself to be bullied into agreeing with that bossy and self-important hero. Not very dignified, let alone romantic at all! J.L. has managed to maintain the dignity of her heroines in other books having a similar premise, such as "You Belong To Me" but "Joining" didn't allow this. Mill and Wulf only seemed to be obsessed with arguing about each other's habits in a flimsy attempt to substitute for plot. Lastly the word "joining" was used about every 5 pages for some reason. I found such repetition unnecessary and very annoying. If you must read this, get it from the library like I did. Not worth the $.
Rating: Summary: Joining Review: Johanna Lindsey at her best! Plot was the usual, a betrothed marriage where the bride and groom to be can't stand eachother. However, reading how the romance develops is pure fun! Throw in some excitement, adventure and some steamy scenes and this Book is A+. If you like a good historical romance, this one is for you!
Rating: Summary: This is my first Johanna Lindsey book, and I liked it. Review: I prefer historical romances and I thought this book was well done. It all depends on each readers' taste, motivation, and preferences. I enjoyed this book as better-than-average mind candy. Fairly sensual. Predictable story line, but what romance novel doesn't have that?
Rating: Summary: Not as fast-paced, but a worthy read. Review: Although certainly not one of Johanna Lindsey's greater works, this book certainly has its merits. The sexual tension is prevalent between Wulfric and Milisant, but there's more fighting than loving. It is only at the very end that the couple discovers how much they love one another. There isn't as much action and adventure, but the plot and time-period were well-researched. In this Lindsey novel, the reader has to admire Milisant's desperate attempts to be accepted for who she is rather than who everyone else in the book wants her to be. Wulfric comes to understand this better than anyone, which is probably why the two fall in love. All in all, the book is worth the read, but I would not recommend it if one is looking for a constant adventure. But if the reader is searching for a tale of love and acceptance, pick it up and prepare for a long afternoon of reading enjoyment.
Rating: Summary: A bit disappointing Review: Whilst I normally enjoy Johanna Lindsey, I found this disappointing compared to her previous books. There doesn't appear to be as much romance as usual and the story in general was a trifle boring. As an avid Johanna Lindsey fan, I hope her next attempt will be better
Rating: Summary: Good read Review: I felt that this book was only okay, if I could have given a rate of 2 1/2 stars that would be what I would give it. I thought that the heroine was something that she could never be. I have a real hard time with that, when people should accept themselves for what they are. Wulfric I like from the beginning to the end.but as far as Mili was concern her character was lacking to me. I thought that the book was repetitious for the most part. JL your stories are usually very good. This was very disappointing.
Rating: Summary: A GOOD BOOK Review: I found this book difficult to continue reading a lot of times, but was glad that I finshed it. .. It was not the worst for sure/ far from the best. If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A Christmas gift to be cherished forever.
