Rating: Summary: Absolutely Horrible! Review: This is the worst book of Lindsey's I've read. I didn't like the characters, the plot, anything! I'm just happy I checked it out from the library. Ms. Lindsey has been slipping for a while, but this book was terrible. If I could, I would have given it no stars!
Rating: Summary: Weak and Disappointing Review: Johanna Lindsay is one of my favorite authors and I have read every single one of her novels. However, this book is definitely not one of her best works. It lacks tension and passion. The characters are flat and one dimensional. I could not understand how the main characters fell in love. At one moment, they hate each other, then the next thing I knew, they are madly in love. When I read Lindsay's past novels, I got very emotional, teary and could not put the book down. With Joining, it was just the opposite. I was just plain bored and it felt like the novel would never end. Hopefully, her next story would be better.
Rating: Summary: Dissapointing Review: Johanna is and will remain one of my favorite authors, if I stick to her old stuff. Thank goodness I took this out of the library becuase it would have been a waste of money. The characters are whiny, and readers cannot possibly be expected to believe that these two held such silly childhood grudges for so long, and such frivolous garbage does not fit in with the time period. Where has the PASSION gone??? These characters whined to much to fall in love, and the love scene(s) (was there more than one?) left me wanting.
Rating: Summary: VERY DISAPPOINTING Review: I HAVE READ ALL OF JOHANNA'S BOOKS AND A BIG FAN BUT HER LAST COUPLE OF BOOKS ARE LACKING OF HER USUAL SPUNK. IT'S TOO BAD I KINDA DON'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON HER HARDCOVER ANYMORE SO I'LL STICK TO PAPERBACK OR THE LIBRARY. THE CHARACTERS WERE BORING AND NOT TOO BRIGHT NEITHER. AND PERSONALLY I THINK THAT THE ONES THAT DID LIKE IT ARE NOT GOOD READERS OR GOOD CRITICS.
Rating: Summary: she's getting good again Review: i can see that most of the other reviewers were pretty disappointed with this book, but i actually enjoyed it. milisant was a bit annoying, but at least wulfric had a backbone. this is the EXACT same story as "you belong to me" (vasili & alex), but just written much, much better. my problem with lindsey's latest novels are that you just don't fall in love with the hero (best example, damien in "all i need is you") and you hate the heroine (casey from the same book). but this one was pretty good.
Rating: Summary: YAWN!!!!!!! It's ok, can't say it was bad or it was good Review: Johanna Lindsey's books are usually so exciting and well-planned. This plot is nice to think about, but it just took forever to the romancing! Half the book was boring and the book picked up when Millicent(is that spelled right?)went to her friend's and Wulfric(is that spelled right?) found her. What happened to Lindsey's style and flair? Her previous books were fantastic, especially her Malory series. The Malorys were simply wonderful. If I was her, I would write another Malory book. The Joining was ehhh...really missing Lindsey's spark. The plot should have been more well-planned. I recommend reading this, but don't buy it! Borrow it from a friend or the library. That's what I did. It is simply not worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Not her best work Review: It seems like I waited forever for this book to come out, and now that I read it, I wish she maybe had spent more time developing it. It was predictible, boring, and disapointing. Read it if you are desperate.
Rating: Summary: Snoreville Review: Have you ever driven in your car for a long distance and when you finally reach the last couple of miles, you gun it to get home faster? Well, that's what I did with this book. I read the last chapters really fast just so that I could finish the book because I could't wait to close it up forever. Johanna, I am very dissappointed. The story line was predictable and the characters are weak. The constant use of italics was very annoying. Just open up to any page and you will find italicized words on most pages. I felt that the main characters, Milisant and Wulfric, didn't get to know each other. They didn't talk to each other so I don't understand how they fell in love with each other. I am trying very hard to think of some positive things but I am unable to.
Rating: Summary: Could be much better Review: I have read all her books. I likes all her books from Captive Bride to Man of My Dream. All her newest books are so boring. I would loves it if she continue to write the same style she had been written for so many years. Very disappointed of her book recently. It could be much better.
Rating: Summary: Far from the best Review: Far from the best story she's ever written. It took me days to finish it, where I usually start and finish one of her books in a couple of hours. It was far too boring. Where were the strong lead characters she usually writes about? After waiting months for this latest release, I am very disappointed. I hope the next one will be up to her usual dynamic style.
