Summary: A piece of my childhood is in this book...
Review: Go Dog Go was one of the first books I learned to read and by far my favorite as a small child. I would sit and read it over and over again everytime learning a bit more how the english language worked and what words meant etc. The pictures in this book are great for children as they are numerous and very colorfully done too. I think every child should have this book and it should be one of the first books parents read with their children,it's a true classic.

Summary: Your Child Will Love This Book
Review: Unlike some of the other reviewers of this book, I shan't speak of any deeper message that may be in the story, or how well suited it is for helping a child learn to read. What I will say is that every child I have read this book to has ardently loved it - and has asked me to read it to them again and again...

Summary: Delightful Dogs a-Doing
Review: I remember this book from my childhood and delight in reading it to my daughters. Since it is written for young children (4-8 years), there is no plot or character development to discuss. However, the pictures are colorful and imaginative. This book has a lively pace which ensures the child's attention.

Summary: An all-time great
Review: This was one of my absolute faves when I was growing up and I plan on passing it on to the kids I know. It might be just a coincidence, but all of my friends who had this book ended up being dog-lovers.

Summary: Go Dog Go
Review: I love the book Go Dog Go. I am a teenager, but when I was younger and was learning to read, I read this book everyday. You'll sill find me saying "Do you like my hat? "

Summary: Fun, and a great early reading book
Review: This is the book I picked when my daughter Jesse showed signs of wanting to learn how to really read, and it was a great choice. The vocabulary is tight--71 words (I wrote them out separately to help Jesse!)--and presented very well, with simple, exciting and fun illustrations.

All the activity involves dogs--blue dogs on red trees, big and little dogs, dogs in cars, in mazes, in boats and on rooftops. The text of the first five pages is: "Dog./Big dog./Little dog./Big dogs and little dogs./Black and white dogs."; this is perfect for a child learning to read, with the repetition building confidence very quickly.

The artwork is good and straightforwardly entertaining; perhaps not up to Dr. Seuss' standards, but then very little is. Jesse loves this book, and recommends it as strongly as I do.

Summary: Go, Dog. Go!
Review: This is an excellent book! I have a 20 month old son and he just LOVES this book. He brings it to me every day for me to read to him. He cuddles up in my lap and read with me. Now he is begining to say some of the words like scooter, red, ahead, up and freeze. He has lots of books but he chooses this one.

Summary: One of the few books you MUST include in a child's library!
Review: There is just something about this book which delights every child I know. I think it's the simple but universal concepts---Go, Stop, Like, Don't Like, etc. Along with that, it's the clever details in the illustrations. My boys are so fascinated with the one dog that stays asleep while the rest wake up, by the dog yelling to stop the Ferris wheel, and most of all by that wildest of parties in kid's lit---the dog party in the tree! My older son literally looked at that picture for an hour one night. It's such a scene of pure excitement! If for some strange reason you are only getting 10 books for your child, this would be one of the 10 to get!

Summary: Excellent, simple book for younger readers
Review: This is a great book as it repeats in simple terms various basic concepts like difference between "IN" and "OUT";"UP" and "DOWN"; etc. It gets colors involved as well and concepts like hot and cold.

My 2 1/2 year old is sort of reading it by herself already while my son went through a stage when he was 3 1/2 where he was reading it every day.

A must!
