Summary: Doris's review of Love You Forever
Review: I loved this book! The mom was very sweet and loved her son no matter what he did. As the years went on she continued to sing to her son as often as she could. Eventually when she became too old to sing and care for her there was a role reversal and the son took care of her. Then he went home and sung to his baby daughter. It's the perfect book to give to your mom for Mother's Day!

Summary: Great book!!
Review: I liked the book Love You Forever because it was about a mother and her son. If I ever have a child, I would like to have a son and I would sing that same song to him. I don't think that I would go to his house in the night with a ladder if he is grown up, though. I think that the son knew that his mother loved him and he learned how to be loving to his own child.

Summary: Kids still love it!
Review: I bought this book 16 years ago (my I'm getting old!) for my first son. He thought it was so funny that the boy was flushing the watch down the toilet.

My youngest child is 10 now and she still adores this book and reads it to her baby cousins. To this day the ending makes me cry though as he sings to his own child and the circle completes.

The images are perfect as they portray the mischief that children get into and that regardless a parent's love is still there.

Summary: Most Touching
Review: I bought this book about 2 years ago and just recently I pulled it out of the bookshelf and read it to my sons. They are 4 and 3 years old. As I read the book, I found myself crying. It was so touching and beautiful. They asked why I was crying and I explained how the mommy loves her son just like I love them. They made me read the book over and over that night! It is truly one of my favorite books!!

Summary: Sweetest book ever!
Review: I think this book is absolutely the best book to give to your child. I had this book when I was little and I plan on giving it to my son on his first birthday. The bond between a mother and her son is quite breathtaking and it makes me cry everytime I read this book. There is no reason to run out and get this book. The lady who wrote that this is a creepy book obviously was not held enough as a child and needs to analyze herself, for this is a fun, and truly heartwarming book. To be honest, that lady is creepy for not loving this book. She must not have realized that this book is FICTION! I feel sorry for her child.

Summary: Best children's book for adults ever
Review: This book has touched me more than any. My youngest son is 11 and I still own this book. I cry every time I read it. It is the sweetest book ever. The bad reviews below are synical people without a heart. How someone could find this mother/son love creepy is beyond me.

An extremely special book. Read it to your children and then read it again for you.

Summary: Not in the "love it forever" crowd....
Review: The fact of the matter is there are two types of crowds for this book: You either love it or hate it. I fall in the latter group for many reasons. The people who love it will love it forever. Others, like me, will never "get it". NEVER.

First of all the art is ugly. There I've said it. It's just downright poorly done. Enlarge the cover and see for yourself! That child looks scary, not cute. But that's the least of this books downfalls.

Secondly the mother is, as other reviewers pointed out, weirdly obsessive and downright creepy in her devotion to her son. She crawls across his floor when he's a teenager and stalks him as an adult. Ew. It's just really bizarre. Sappy is one word for it, but there are other words for it as well...like psychotic.

Now, I'm not saying that the people who like this are insane. They fell for the "awww...parents are so giving and loving" line the book dishes out. But there are less disturbing and better illustrated books out there to buy! Runaway Bunny for starters or Guess How Much I Love You (SO MUCH BETTER).

The theme is one of the most common in children's literature. There are more healthy approaches to the topic in my opinion. This book is wildly popular. But that doesn't mean it's any good.

Summary: Love You Forever
Review: This book is creepy -- I would never read this to a child of any age. Wouldn't want my child to think I would crawl across the floor to look at him while he's sleeping, especially when he reaches his teenage years. Ever heard of privacy? Understand where Mr. Munsch was trying to go with this, but the result is seriously warped. I have a hard time believing that this book was written by the same person who wrote the wonderful stories "Stephanie's Ponytail" and "Thomas' Snowsuit."

Summary: Love You Forever
Review: "Love You Forever" is a story about a mother and her child. Throughout the story, it tells about how her child grows up and changes during his life. In the book, it tells how no matter what her child is like, she will always love him. At night she sometimes creeps into his bedroom and sings "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be. After doing this for many years, she gets old and sick, so her son comes to her house and sings it to her. Then he takes up the tradition and starts singing it to his newborn child.
I think this is a pretty good book because even though it is a bit repetitive and can get a bit boring it gets across a pretty good point. It shows the love that is between a mother and her son. It shows the devotion to each other that each of them has.

Summary: Weird if you're an adult but great for a child
Review: My kids (now 3 and 5)loved this book. I laughed out loud when I read a review saying this book was strange and creepy. (The mother driving across town in the middle of the night with a ladder tied to her car has to be the creepiest part). After I first read this book, those were my sentiments exactly. However, this book is written for children and through the eyes of a child, it shows the never-ending love a mother has for her son or daughter. This book would be best purchased for kids 5 and under. After 6, I think they might think the mother in this book a bit odd.
