Rating: Summary: Love you Forever Review: I always loved this book and read it to my sons when they were little. Recently, this book took on a whole new meaning when my mother passed away. I read this book at her eulogy to remind myself and everyone there about how she will still be my mother even though she is gone and how we should carry on traditions within our families to our children and then to our grandchildren, for our mothers live within usin every day of our lives. Everyone loved the story, and many people wanted to purchase a copy after they heard it.
Rating: Summary: Oh PLEASE! Review: Another reviewer says this book should not be judged harshly becuase it is a metaphor... What small child can understand the meaning in a metaphor this drawn out? This book tries to and does illustrate unconditional love, but travels down a strange road to do so. There are much better books out there like Guess How Much I Love You.
Rating: Summary: Get out the tissues! Review: The first time I read this book my son was a collicky baby and all I did was rock him and sing to him. I cried and cried when I read it as it was so beautiful! I kept reading it to my son through the twos and it was so true and eventually I didn't cry when reading it. When my daughter came along I bought her a copy for her own. I must say that if I take too much time between readings the book gets to me as my children seem to be growing as quickly as the boy in the book. HOwever, I recommend this book to any mother (a great Christening or baby gift) and sure to bring a smile (if not a few "happy" tears) to all. WONDERFUL BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Creepy Review: Sorry, but I just can't see how you can't find this book strange. I agree that it does express the attachment a mother has to her child but this goes overboard. Driving across town in the middle of the night, climbing up a ladder and into her sons bedroom reminded me of something out of Psycho or at the very least Serial Mom. What would you do if your mother did this?
Rating: Summary: I still can't read it to my kids! Review: I think it's great to be able to let our children know that we can love each other so much. I have yet to read this book without breaking down, but now that my oldest son is eight, I just hand it over to him and he finishes for me. I've told the kids that it's such a nice book it makes my heart overflow and they think it's funny watching it get 'full'. The funniest thing I've found is that the notion of the mother crawling into that grown up man's window was scary for them... not because she was breaking and entering, but because that man moved away from his mother! We all love this story.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: Warms your heart - a good illustration of how love travels in a circle as most everything does.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: The most beautiful children's story I've seen. Great for a baby shower gift. Shows the full circle of love between children and their mothers.
Rating: Summary: REALITY CHECK Review: I was reading the reviews for this book I read for the first time last night, and really understood. For the "opponents" of this book, realize that much of the book is a metaphor. The mother does not really drive across town with a ladder, but the love in her heart would allow her to do so if her son needed her. I'm about to have my first child, and this book helped me realize that although my own mother may not have been perfect, she always had love for me. And with all the "unlove" in this world, a mother's love should be celebrated. Let's not all become amateur psychologists and analyze this book to pieces.. simply take it for what it is, an imaginative portrait of a mothers love.
Rating: Summary: a clasic Review: just the SWEETEST book...we turned the refrain into a song...this, goodnight moon, and the runaway bunny are my 3 favorite memories of reading to my 4 kids when they were very small...must haves!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: I cry everytime I read this to my daughters. An amazing book.
