Rating: Summary: Wow... Review: a lot of the reviewers talk about this book like it is the Bible or something. Perhaps the Freudian overtones aren't terribly damaging to children, who do not catch the adult interpretations of this book; however, the subtle message of mother-son/father-daughter exclusivity in a family is extremely one-dimensional. I find myself rolling my eyes everytime I have to put it on the shelf for a visit because a well meaning relative gave it to us. This is not because I've never experienced unconditional love or just hate the world. I love my parents and my children, and I show that love through healthy demonstrations. I don't say that my child is zoo-like in any behavior (he isn't), nor do I creep around on floors so I can hold my adolescent son in my arms in the middle of the night. Label me unimaginative and negative; I know differently. The relationship portrayed in this book is peverse.
Rating: Summary: A must read for any parent--unconditional love at it's best Review: This book will touch your heart! It is a must have for all parents. I read it the first time very reluctantly; I now read it at least once a month--never without a dry eye. It shows how precious our children are and how precious the times we have with them are, even when we want to scream! It tells us to make the most of the times we have when they're young because those years go so very fast.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book Review: The first time I heard this book I was in the 3rd grade. It went straight to my heart and stayed there... Everytime I read this book I get teary eyed. It shows a strong everlasting devotion between mother and son showing that no matter how old one gets they can never get too old for their mommys love! 5 full stars.
Rating: Summary: Sweet look at the mother/son relationship Review: "Love You Forever" is a story that will get mothers everytime. Although somewhat unbelievable, the story is cute and the illustrations funny. When the tear came to my eye at the end of the story, it immediately reminded me of the book "Something to Remember Me By" by Susan Bosak. What a touching story about the grandaughter/grandmother relationship! The illustrations alone make the book a must have, and the perfect gift for a grandmother in the family. You "Love You Forever" fans won't be dissappointed.
Rating: Summary: Touching look at the special bond between a mother and son Review: I loved this book. It was given to me when my son was born. This book is heartwarming and sweet and I was so touched by it that I cried. This is a perfect gift for woman who has or will give birth to a baby boy. I reread this book often and always think of my son. What a wonderful keepsake that I will always hold dear.
Rating: Summary: You never stop being a mom Review: I've owned this book for many years, but now that I am a mother I can truly appreciate the sentiment behind it. If you are considering buying this book, please consider the vast majority of positive reviews and disregard the negative ones. This is a CHILDREN'S book, not a social commentary, and I can't imagine what would make a child feel better than knowing that their mother will always love them.
Rating: Summary: 5 times 500 stars are not enough Review: This book was read to an auditorium full of mothers and daughters at a mother daughter supper. There was not a dry eye in the house. I was very touched by this book and went home and hugged my elderly mother and told her I loved her. I fully intend to add it to my collection.
Rating: Summary: It makes me cry everytime! Review: I was a nanny and this book was a favorite with the kids. Not because they enjoyed the story, although, they did, but because it made me cry. I would really choke up at the end and couldn't finish some of the sentences and they thought that was pretty funny. I love this story and I love the sentiment in it. I hope you enjoy it, too.
Rating: Summary: What a heart-warming look at true love! Review: This book was in the teachers' lounge one day and I read it as I was using the copier. I was so touched by it that I bought my personal copy at a book fair at my child's school. My mother recently went home to be with the Lord, and I thought of this book. I sent each of my seven siblings his/her own copy. I know it will bring tears to their eyes; however, it should also bring joy to their hearts. I sent it to reassure them that they should have no regrets. Mother loved us with that same kind of devotion, and my siblings were as loving and devoted to our Mother as this son was to his.
Rating: Summary: Exceptional! Review: The book captures the essence of the bond between parent and child, unconditional love, whether it is maternal or paternal. I am slightly confused by the negative reviews. They seem to be out of left field. The main problem may be the lack of understanding of what a metaphor is. It is no way sick, perverse or disturbing. It is about loving one another, nothing more, nothing less. A book for all ages, and an amazing tribute in its own right
