Rating: Summary: excellent to read together Review: My three-year-old nephew loved this book, which we read together while camping---much better than having to tote a bunch of books around. I wasn't aware that some of the illustrations were missing, and as long as you read it together, pages aren't likely to be torn. And at that age, isn't togetherness part of what reading's all about?
Rating: Summary: Memories Review: This book contains all my favorite stories growing up in the mid 60's and into the 70's + all my sisters favorites growing up in the 70's and 80's! Brings back lots of memories that I can now share with my children.
Rating: Summary: What A Great Baby Gift! Review: I have sent this book to several friends and family members when they have a new addition to their family. All the new parents have raved about the stories and illustrations (and their older children love it, too). When you want to send a baby gift, don't send toys or clothing -- send this book! It's something that can't be broken or outgrown and it's sure to make a big impression for years to come.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book! Review: My 3-year-old demands no fewer than 2 or 3 bedtime stories per night, so while planning a week plus trip out of state I was concerned about how to pack reading material. After reading the previous reviews, I decided to take a chance and order this book. Good decision! Yes, some of the illustrations are small, or missing alltogether, but it made little difference to him. Many of his favorites were here as well as some new favorites! This is a fantastic book for travel and would make a wonderful gift. In fact, I'm back to order it for a friend. By the way...I wish I'd seen this before I dished out hundreds of dollars on hardcover children's stories!
Rating: Summary: One Thousand Nights with more than one Scherezade. Review: If you're a minimalist and wish to have just one book for your kids, the book that has everything on it; modern classics that will grow with your children; a book where each night you will find a beautiful tale totally different from the night before; a book where each of your children will have a favorite story that could easily change over the years; a book where your children will learn to love literature and will love to practice reading; One thousand nights with more than one Scherezade, you must have The 20th-Century's Children Book Treasury.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE THIS BOOK Review: I read this book almost everynight and the kids love it. We have been reading it for about a year. Lots of stories I read when I was a kid. sickpuppee@hotmail.com
Rating: Summary: soup to nuts. Review: This is a great book to add to your child's library. While we missed some of the pictures that would be found in the individual books, this has something to satisfy everyone, including my 4 year old and my 2 year old. A wonderful treasury of beloved stories. So far..if I could only pick one book that would satisfy my two little ones..this would be it.
Rating: Summary: The perfect book for night time snuggles Review: I purchased this book to read to my 2 small grandchildren when they visited. I was unprepared for how much they would love it. At the first sitting, they begged for more and more stories and would have listened all night if I had let them. This collection has let us discover many books that we might never have purchased and certainly brought back many fond memories of reading to my little girls. Every time they come over it is the first book they reach for, so I just had to buy one for their moms. Yes, the illustrations have been downsized, but that doesn't seem to bother them at all. Where else can you get such a wonderful collection of books in one volume?
Rating: Summary: All your favorites in one place! Review: If you want to have dozens of childrens' books of all levels in one easy-to-handle hardcover, this is your book.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book of concise picture stories. Review: This is truly a great book to have in any library, but if you are a real bibliophile, then you must also have the original single book versions of the stories you really like. The reason I say this is because in the interest of whittling the book down to size, many of the original illustrations have been cut from the stories. I don't know about you, but looking at all the beautiful pictures was half the fun of reading these books when I was small. It is convenient to have all these stories in one volume.
