Summary: A Blessing
Review: This book was donated to our elementary school's library in memory of our son, Cory, who died this September. It is a beautiful, beautiful book...and gave me incredible peace. Thank you, Warren Hanson. I recommend it to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, or who knows someone who has.

Summary: A Beautiful Place
Review: I was attracted to the gorgeous cover art of this book in the children's section. As I read it I felt swept away. The text and illustrations are so beautiful, so moving, and so unique. I'd recommend it for children, parents and adults alike. It's a simple but profound way of explaining death to a child, without seeming scary or overtly religious. Keep this in mind as a gift. As a parent and a child therapist, I know this will be put to good use.

Summary: Heaven
Review: This book was given to my 15 year old son when my husband was on his deathbed dying from stomach cancer at age 42. At first I thought my sister had bought the book in error because it looked like a kids book. I read it and knew that I would be buying this book for many other people who need to be reassured that there is a better place where people go and they don't suffer anymore. This book is being bought and donated to our local Hospice staff that helped us while my husband was dying. It will be lent out to children and adults as well who may not know that there is a heaven. It is a wonderful reassuring book that all must read.

Summary: A Quilt of Comfort...
Review: The Next Place brings us, in childlike hope, faith and love, to the place of knowing that beyond what is there is yet to be...

The comfort and wonder of the words and illustrations give voice to that which one cannot speak in times of intense and overwhelming grief; it is a bedside blessing to return to time and again.

THE NEXT PLACE is now the remembrance I give in times of loss rather than flowers that fade...for its message and loveliness are eternal.

Summary: The Next Place
Review: This book was given to me when my Mother passed away, and although it is meant to be a children's book, nothing spoke to me or touched me more. I recommend this book for anyone and everyone who has experienced a loss and is looking for peace in missing someone they love.

Summary: The Next Place
Review: The Next Place is truly an experience in spirituality for patients as well as caregivers. One should not assume it is only appropriate for children as it provides comfort and joyful anticipation of the great beyond for all ages. I have probably given this book to 20 or 30 patients and/or families during terminal illness or at end of life. The message is beautiful and soothing and the art work is superb.

Summary: The Next Place
Review: A friend of mine sent me this book when we found out that my daughter wasn't going to survive her illness. My daughter who was 3 yrs old said to me, "So this is what heaven is like". I told her that there was nothing to be afraid of. And that when she did go to heaven she wouldn't be sick anymore and that she would be perfect. She had us read this book to her everyday until she passed on. Even now it is a great source of comfort to me as I read this book. To know that my little angel is up there looking down on me.

Summary: The Next Place -- brought us grace.
Review: I recently shared the experience of hearing "The Next Place" read aloud. The book had almost fallen off the shelf into my sister-in-law's hands. We were transfixed by the message and illustrations that were graced with hope, peace and love. There, in the huge bookstore, we transcended our losses and tragedies. We gathered closer together and cried healing tears.

Summary: Explain Loss to a Child While Affirming Adult Belief
Review: My first exposure to Warren Hanson's poetry and the beautiful illustrations in The Next Place was at my mother's funeral. It was read as part of the funeral service. This lovely, peaceful yet hopeful book for children may have been written to help the adult explain death to a child. But in doing so the adult affirms their own belief of life beyond this world....The Next Place. I hope this book never goes out of print because it has become my personal way of helping my friends, their children and grandchildren through loss.
