Summary: Maniac Magee: A Book Reveiw by Deborah
Review: Have you ever run at top speed on a rail of a railroad track? Have you ever kissed a buffalo? Well, if you read the book "Maniac Magee", by Jerry Spinelli, you will experience the feel of it. In this book, a boy named Jeffery Magee flees from his aunt and uncle for lack of family togetherness. He runs, yes runs, all the way from Holidaysburg, Pennsylvania, to Two Mills, Pennsylvania. While in Two Mills, Jeffery discovers the difference and seperation between black and white people. Jeffery gets the nickname 'Maniac' through all of the feats and dares that he performs. Once, he saved a kid from Finsterwald's backyard, thought he kid still got the finsterwallies. I like the book "Maniac Magee" because of how courageous and brave Jeffery is. If I had to rate this book on a scale of one to five, one being the least, five being the most, then I would rate it ten! Note: If you want to know what the finsterwallies are, then you must read it.

Review: Ever heard of a book about a boy who solves other people's problems, but hasen't solved his own? What about a town that is split, with blacks in the East and whites in the West? Maniac Magee, one of the many books by Jerry Spinelli, shows the life a boy running from his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan. Already nine people have rated this book five stars in three minutes! Of course, this book has won a golden Newberry Award, in 1990. Out of 1 to 5 stars I would have to rate this book 10 stars! My favorite parts include, when Maniac lives in the Beales, and when he decorates 101 Band Shell Blvd. for Christmas. All the problems a boy has to solve for the people in Pennsylvania! He saves boy, kisses a buffalo, and runs at top speed on a railroad track all in a single bound! Hands-Down, the football player, teaches Maniac trash, and Mrs. Beale stops it. Maniac, the Beale family, and Hands-Down all have the same thing in common, they're all colorblind! Try not to get the finsterwallies while reading this! If you want to get the finsterwallies read the book, and you can learn what the finsterwallies are.

His real name is Jeffery Lional Mcgee . He got the nickname "maniac" from all the crazy things he did . Its about a boy whose parents are killed in a train accident and is left with his aunt and uncle who fight all the time and don't share anything so one day Jeffery runs away to anther city . The city is seperated into two parts East and West , the whites stay in the west and the blacks stay in the East . While in the city maniac stands up to some bullies , meets a girl finds a lonley old man and teaches him how to read .
This book has some sad , funny , and happy times. It won a newbery honor award so that means its good .

Review: Maniac Magee is an adventure/realistic fiction book with so much information you'll want to read it night and day. You won't want to put it down. If someone offers you another book say "no!" One of the big issues in this book is people dying. Maniac lost his parents when he was very young so he had to stay with his aunt and uncle who didn't even love each other. A friend was all Maniac needed. For him this isn't a hard task. When he needs a friend all he has to do is say something smart. Some of the friends he meets are the kind you meet once and then they chase you away. When Maniac wanted to go to school someone told him he couldn't because he didn't have an adress. Other kinds of friends he made were the ones who will stick with you all the way. Besides friends the most important thing to Maniac is a, wait, I can't tell you that or it'll ruin your reading experience. This book definitely deserves a 5 out of 5. If you read it you'll see why. I'm sure you'll like this book a whole lot!

Review: Have you ever read a book that makes you want to read more? Well if you like thoughs kind of books, you will like Maniac Magee. My class gave it 5 stars. We think it deserved its newberry award. It is a fun packed, realilistic story. Maniac Mage has lots of actionand mild racism. like in the story there is an east end and a west end the blacks always stayed on the east end , and the whites always stayed on the west end, exsept for Jeffrey Magge he goes everywere. Jeffrey Magee starts as a three-year-old infant that grows up with his aunt and uncle and then leaves to find him selfe all alone. He meets lots of family, friends, and enimies, but yet at the end he seems to find peace with all of them. he looses and gains all at the same time. If you don't believe me then go and get a copy of this book and read it yourself. It will help you understand the difference between mild and extreem racism. It also will show you what the homeless kids go through day by day .

Review: Have you ever read a book that will have you crying and laughing at the same time? Well Maniac Magee is that book. It has very sad times and very happy tmes. I would rate Maniac Magee a five star book because it is such a great book. Maniac Magee tells you about this boy named Jeffery Magee. Jeffery's parents were killed on a trolly wreck when he was only three,and he was sent to live with his Aunt and Uncle. Jeffery's Aunt and Uncle were always arguing so Jeffery ran away. he ran all the way to Two Mills. Maniac Magee is a very funny book, but at the same time it is a very sad because Jeffery looses his best friends and family. Well if you don't belive me when I say that Maniac Magee is a very great book then go ahead and pick up your own copy of Maniac Magee today.

Review: Have you ever seen a boy who has bad luck with parents, and runs away all the time? Well in the book Maniac Magee there is a boy named Jeffrey Magee who has bad luck with parents and runs away all the time. Jerry Spinelli is a really good author. He uses many similies and you can picture what is happening in your mind. This book takes place in Two Mills, Pennsylvania. Two Mills is split in half and there is an East End and a West End. Blacks live on the East End and whites live on the West End. The problem of the novel was that whites and blacks didn't get along.
There are many events that happened in the book. The first event was that Jeffrey's parents died in a trolley crash and Jeffrey had to live with his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan. Then Jeffrey ran away. He came up to this girl named Amanda Beale. She let Jeffrey borrow one of her books. Jeffrey goes to Finsterwald's house. These highschoolers find him in the backyard of Finsterwald's, everyone was afriad of this house. Then Jeffrey meets this boy named John McNab. McNab is a baseball player. Jeffrey does a frog ball and scores a homerun. Jeffrey goes to live with the Beales. He enjoyed being a part of the Beale family. He loved eating Mrs. Beale's cake batter. This happiness didn't last long. People were being mean to Jeffrey. They wrote fishbelly go home on the front of the Beale's house. Jeffrey decided to leave and he did. Jeffrey meets a kind old man named Earl Grayson. They become very close friends. Grayson ends up dying. It seems everyone that Jeffrey loves gets taken away from him. Jeffrey becomes friends with Mars Bar who is a black boy. This book has a mixture of sad and happy events.
I liked this style of writing that Jerry Spinelli uses to tell the story. He makes the reader really see that there is kindness and cruelty in the different races. I like the way the friendship developed between Jeffrey and Mars Bar. I didn't like that Grayson died. The book ended abruptly, I wish it had a few more chapters. I recommend this book to kids between the ages of ten and fifteen who enjoy adventures.

Review: Poor Jeffrey Magee.He is a twelve year old boy who has lost his parents in the famous P&W trolly accident.Jeffrey runs away from his Aunt and Uncle.Jeffrey finds himself in the East End of Two Mills, Pennsylvania.The East End is for black people and the West End is for white people.Jeffrey Magee soon beomes known as Maniac because he does things that other people wouldn't dare to do.It think Jerry Spinelli did a great job on MANIAC MAGEE.
Wow!Maniac sure does a lot of things. Do you to know what he does?Okay,let's get started.The first thing Maniac does after he runs away from his Aunt and Uncle is that he stops a pass from a person called Hands Down in football.Then he goes to the Pickwells' house and he eats dinner there.The next day he went to the baseball field and cought the first frogball.Then he meets Mars Bar(a boy who thinks he is bad).Next he goes and stays with Amanda Beale.Then he meets a man named Grayson.Then Maniac runs into the Mc Nabs and stays with them for a little bit.Finally, Maniac starts to live with the Beales'.
I would recommend this book for all ages and for people that love to read.I didn't like the part when Grayson dies and when Maniac's parents died.I loved almost everything about this book.I loved Maniac Magee and I hope you will to.

Review: This is the best book ever. It is called Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli.He is the best author ever because he writes like he is a kid.The main character is Jeffey Magee also none as Maniac Magee.Maniac's parents died in a trolly crash and he is sent to live with his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan who hate each other. They have two of every thing,they even split Maniac in half.The town is called Two Mills Pennsylvania.It is divided in half sparated in half between blacks and whites,he has the worst of luck with parents.He loves to run.The only problem is he doesn't have a home to run back to.So he goes from home to zoos to back yards and every thing you wouldn't imagine living in , but he never stays in one for long.He stays alive though.
There are a lot of things that happen in this book.Like when Maniac begs Amanda Beale to give him a book.Or when he jumps the fence of the Finsterwalds to save a kid.He ran and stoped by the Piskwel's house to have dinner.When he cought a football with one hand.Or when he hit home run on John McNab's frogball,or when he got chased by the cobras and crossed to the East End. He took a bite of the meanest kids candy bar, Mars Bar Johnson. Maniac meets back up with Amanda Beale.Then Amanda asks if he wants to stay with her.Then he unties Cobble's Knot.Maniac runs away from the Beales house,but where will he go next.
I loved this book it was the best book i ever read.The only part I disliked was when Grayon died.I didn't like that because Maniac found a grown up who loved him and cared for him since the Beales.That was the saddest chapter in the whole book.I recommend this book to kids of the ages of 8-12 because they would understand and enjoy this book. I hope you recommend reading this book.The point of this story is that there are all different types of families and you will always have a family even if only one person cares about you,but will Maniac ever find a real home?

Review: Suspence, mystery, happiness, sadness and humor. These are all feelings you'll come across in the book Maniac Magee. Jerry Spinelli really had a lot of description in this book. He also wrote Loser and many others. Maniac is a boy whose mother and father died in a trolley car when he was two. He goes to live with his aunt and uncle. I'm not going to tell you what happened there. Maniac runs to escape from his aunt and uncle. He ends up in Two Mills, Pensylvania where this book takes place. The problem in this book is Maniac has no where to stay and he has to find a place to go.
First Maniac runs away from his aunt and uncle and goes to Two Mills, PA where he meets Amanda Beal. He asks her for a book. Maniac runs all over town reading the book. Then he hits a frogball of John McNab. John chases him all the way to Hector Street where he meets a black boy named Mars Bar. Mars Bar asks Maniac if he wants a bite of his candy bar. Does he eat it? Amanda comes to ask Maniac if he wants to come to her home. Maniac stays there for a few weeks. Then one day at a block party a man told Maniac to go back on the white side. Does he go? Cobbles knot, what is it? What does Maniac do with it? Find out. Maniac meets a man named Grayson. Maniac stays with him for a while. After Christmas Grayson dies. Maniac ends up at John McNab's house. Why does he go to a place where nobody likes him? Maniac helps Piper and Russell Mcnab stay in school by doing amazing things. Why does Maniac leave? Maniac and Mars Bar run next to each other but they don't talk. One day Russell and Piper were playing a game. Russel is on a bridge when a trolley comes. Does Maniac save him? Maniac ends up at the zoo. But where does he go after that?
I really like this book. It is a lot of fun to find out what happens. I liked the part when Maniac plays with Hester and Lester Beal. I don't like the part when Grayson dies. I would recemend this book to anyone that likes adventures. The ages are from 9-30. If you want to find the answers to the questions just read the book!
