Rating: Summary: Exceptional book for HTML newbies Review: Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn HTML. Excellent!
Rating: Summary: Great HTML Beginner Book Review: I'd recommend this book to any HTML website designer. This is an especially good for beginners, but is also a great reference book for expert website designers.
Rating: Summary: Impressive Achievement Review: Never before have I encountered a technical book that so unerringly and concisely zeros-in on and explains the key fundamentals required to learn a topic. This is not just an excellent book on HTML - it is an unusual example of logic and narrative in technical writing, a worthy model for other computer writers to emulate.
Rating: Summary: This is where I began... Review: as a web developer. I self taught myself HTML with this book (except with version 1) and continue to keep it next to my desk today. Unlike some of the other Quickstart guides, this one gives a comprehensive understanding and continues to be a valuable reference.
Rating: Summary: Best book I've ever seen on HTML Review: This book is good for the beginner to HTML or wants to hand design a Web site. I have dabbled in HTML for years, and this book did not insult my intelligence. In fact, Ms. Castro chunks the information into short, easily-followed procedures. The author is an excellent technical writer who enjoys her subject. Her graphics are sometimes a bit too small, but that is a small concern (pun intended)
Rating: Summary: Easy to comprehend, helpful Review: Easy to read, this book sits next to my computer and serves as my constant reference. Easy to read and comprehend. Thanks!
Rating: Summary: I knew nothing about HTML... Review: My first and last book on pure HTML. After reading it, I was ready for Perl, JavaScript, PHP, etc. My feet were wet and I was diving in. This was a great book to cut my teeth on. It's still the only reference or any other HTML book that I own. A must have for first-timers. The VQS series is where I start on any new topic, like Perl, CSS and DHTML, PHP (but not the JS book, it's bad).
Rating: Summary: Great HTML Book For Computer or WebTV Review: This book is written with the computer in mind but I found it great for making webpages with my WebTV. Some applications I couldn't use because the directions were for Windows but it still gave enough information to learn HTML and make my Web site with it's many web pages. I enjoyed learning to make anchors the most, they are links that jump to another area of the webpage or website. The directions are great and easy to understand, you will be happy with this one. Rating: Summary: Absolutely excellent Review: This book is almost perfect. I was very intimidated about writing HTML code when I began my web design class. This book really helped me. If you aren't big on reading long, complicated text books, get this one. It's wonderful
Rating: Summary: I agree - it's the best! Review: This book didn't get 4 1/2 stars out of 5 for no reason. It's simply the best book on HTML out there (and I've perused a dozen or so!) The Visual QuickStart Series is a very good one to begin with but Elizabeth Castro simply makes it better. Her information is complete, concise and easy to follow. I get upset when my 19 year old son borrows (and then hides) this book from me. I try to use other books for basic reference info but they simply don't compare to Castro's. (Guess I'll have to get him his own copy) I too lament the fact that 5 stars is the highest rating that I can give this book!
