Rating: Summary: If you REALLY want to know how things work .. Review: I enjoyed reading this book. Just as much as I enjoyed reading Mastering Windows NT Server 4. Mark (and his compagnons) did it again. The book explains things where other books fail. When you are trying to become an MCSE and want to know why and how things really work, this is a must have ... It is also a must have when you are running a Windows 2000 network.
Rating: Summary: The Bible for Windows 2000 administrators! Review: I am an NT4 MCSE and CNA. I have Mark's Mastering NT 4 Server seventh edition and Mastering Windows 2000 Server second edition. Both books are truly must-haves for any NT/2000 administrator. They are great for day-to-day reference and for studying for the MCSE exams. I recently purchased his Mastering Windows 2000 Professional as well. I will keep my eyes open for any additional offerings from Mark.
Rating: Summary: beginning, intermediate and Advanced ???impossible!! Review: I'm MCSE+I and MCDBA I's impossible to write a book for all levels. Mark has done a good job in Mastering NT 4.0 but he disappointed us by this book. if you buy this book you'll see some section for advanced readers ,some for intermediate and beginners.!! It's really diffecul to deal with this book, because you 'll skip many sections of the book regardless of your level.
Rating: Summary: A "Must Have" Book for Win2000 Admin's Review: This is the first book I go to for the answer to any question about Windows 2000 Server. It covers everything. Even better, it's fairly easy to read. Minasi goes into deep technical detail in a way that is useful to experienced MCSE's without leaving beginners totally in the dark.
Rating: Summary: The single best and ONLY Windows 2000 server Book. PERIOD ! Review: Mark Minasi is simply the greatest teacher of Microsoft products out there and this book will prove it once again. I have been testing and using Win2K server since Beta2 and I though I knew just about everything there is to know about W2K Server. Well, I was wrong. This book really enlightened me on allot of stuff with W2K server. Mark explains everything in detail and always keeps it very interesting and entertaining. Never a dull moment. This book is for everyone, beginners through advanced. This will be your ultimate resource guide for years to come and will never collect dust. This book is a MUST for anyone interested in Windows 2000 and Mark Minasi is still the greatest teacher out there.
Rating: Summary: Unbiased opinions worth their weight in gold. Review: Mark doesn't tell you what Microsoft wants you to hear. He doesn't prepare you for an exam. He makes sure you know what 2000 does...and DOESN'T do. I've got 4 books on 2000 for various topics. But I always reach for this one first. It's the best I've found.
Rating: Summary: It's what you expect from Mark Review: I'll agree with everyone else, I've read Mark Minasi's articles since the magazine's inception and his writing style and expertise are about the only way to pleasantly get through 1600 pages of technical information. I'm not done yet, but this book parked the first two Win2K books I bought.
Rating: Summary: A definite MUST BUY... Review: I haven't read the whole book (2nd Edition) but every section that I have read has been EXCELLENT. Mark (et al) makes the reading light (humorous) and understandable. If you're like me you want a little more than "click here, click there" and this book definitely gives you more!I've read large portions of several Win2k books and THIS one is the ONLY one I bought. It's a DEFINITE MUST BUY...
Rating: Summary: Mark has done it again. Review: I'm currently an MCSE/MCT and am using the Microsoft Self Study guides to prepare to pass the Win2K exams. But when I want to get a clear, precise explanation of a topic, and go even deeper than just what is needed to know to answer a test question, I crack open Mr. Minasi's book. Not only is this book well written, but Mark also has an excellent newsletter and answers his readers e-mail questions faster than anyone I have ever dealt with. Kudos to Mr. Minasi on a job well done.
Rating: Summary: Hard to believe all the great reviews - but they are true. Review: I don't know about you, but when I read a whole ton of great reviews about a book I tend to switch off...thinking "oh yeh, they probably work for the publisher". However, this book is quite simply excellent. If you need to learn about Windows 2000 Server and related technologies this is the book for you. It is very easy to read (not dry like Microsoft and Cisco books) and the author has a great sense of humour which has obviously come from working in the real IT world. It is actually enjoyable to read (for a text book!). Concepts are written in a way that beginners can understand and veterans not feel patronised. Questions that you don't want to ask your workmates for fear of ridicule are answered (we all forget things sometimes!). All related networking and technical concepts of IT infrastructure are explained which means no switching between books constantly. This is for people that want to learn how to do things well in W2k and have an excellent day-to-day reference, not for those who want to beat the Microsoft exams by learning rote. The book was so good, I bought the comp...I mean, I bought Windows 2000 Professional as well. Enjoy!
