Rating: Summary: Full of Great Examples Review: This book is full of great examples of real-life applications that many intranet administrators will find useful. I kept my rating to 4 stars because the examples are geared only to SQL users and I've encountered several errors in the code on the CD.
Rating: Summary: Great for getting the juices going. Review: Sparing precious little time on fundamentals you jump right into a series of web site examples that really get you thinking how you could apply it to your own situation. I started reading to figure out how to approach two or three problems and wound up getting ideas for another half-dozen features for my website. As for learing ASP ... it would be good to have another reference that discussed in greater detail syntax, properties, methods, etc. If you already have a good foundation in object methodology and web functioning, the this "learn by using" approach should work for you.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful examples and great code...worth reading Review: I found this book to be worth it's weight in gold. The examples are great and are easily adapatable to many situations. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in some great techniques for company internet or intranet site as well as just some interesting and fun scripts. All the scripts are included on the cd-rom. BUY THIS BOOK...it's worth it!
Rating: Summary: What a cool resource Review: This book is really cool. There are so many examples of useful code in here. I can't think of one negative critique. I have read many books, but not one has been this useful. The author explains each and every line of his code. The author also stays away from Design Time Controls, so the code is universal. What more could you want in a book? To the author: Thanks a million.... To the potential buyer: if you are looking to learn asp, or looking to learn another way of doing things with asp, YOU WOULD BE A FOOL NOT TO BUY THIS BOOK!!!
Rating: Summary: Instant know-how with Instant ASP Book Review: I like to thank you for writing this Instant ASP book for programmer like us. After reading the first 2 chapter and I immediately know that you had many years of programming experiences. I also bought an extra copy for a friend of mine in Vancouver
Rating: Summary: Excellent Resource for beginners and intemdiate developers Review: I have been trying to learn asp from a lot of resources and found alot of gabarge on the market. This has to be the best book every written about asp. I don't see how you could have anything negative to see about it. Sure it talks about database stuff that you should already know, or just get a book on database how to then connect the asp to the database you created. Some one ought to give this author an award since he cuts through the chase. Excellent resource.
Rating: Summary: " wonderful combination of theory and application " Review: if your working on an enterprise level intranet application (ASP,SQL,and IIS) you should get this book...period.
Rating: Summary: The ONLY ASP book you will need Review: Truly the best book I have seen on writing scripts. The author gives you the script, and then breaks it down line by line and explains how it works. There is no better way to learn. The CD has all the scripts on it, not a bunch of trial software. Don't waste your money on other books. This is the only one you will need and Definitely worth every penny.
Rating: Summary: Tons of Examples Review: I'm very impressed. I tried out some examples and thought they won't work but the worked great. I needed the library to work from an access database so I created the tables in access and it still worked. But most important is the large number of examples give me other new ideas too.
Rating: Summary: Just the ticket to get ideas for projects your working on! Review: Mr. Buczek presents ASP scripting in a way that developers can embrace quickly. His examples cover a wide variety of applications that are quickly modified to suit other needs. Some knowledge is required to set up a database but it's not rocket science and he leads you through the table parameters.
