Rating: Summary: Complete coverage of java servlets Review: The best book available on java servlets.Must have a knowledge of Java network programming and RMI to understand some of the sample codes.Covers basics of HTTP as well.
Rating: Summary: This is not a Servlets introduction book, guys ! Review: I have being commenting out some Java books I've bought last year and after saying that "Inside Servlets" book was a must as an introduction to Servlets I can tell you that this one from Oreilly is not a begginers level book at all ! It has very advanced examples and talks about Connection pooling etc... the book is very good but don't start with it... it's good to see this book as 541 at the sales rank... where the hell is ASP ?
Rating: Summary: Best servlet book available. Review: This book is the best book I've found on Servlets to date. The information it provides is accurate and thorough. The examples are all relevant and valuable. It's written in a manner that is fun to read; and is laid out in a very logical manner. Can't recommend it enough.
Rating: Summary: Suitable cover graphic... Review: ... all hot steam and no substance. why buy an out of date book when all of the material is freely available on the java soft web site?
Rating: Summary: Assumes a lot of things. Review: This book assumes that the reader knows a lot of things about Web programming and HTTP protocol in particular.Although the authors do give an impression that they know a lot about the topic (they use BIG technical terms very often) but somehow are NOT able to come to level of starter and explain from the basics.I would recommend that one must have some knowledge of HTTP and some internet programming before he can grasp concepts from this book.Even in-depth knowledge of Java doesn't help in grasping the concepts of this book right from start.OR I would recommeng the autor to include a bit detailed chapter covering the basics of internet programming before rushing on to developing servlets.
Rating: Summary: a great introduction, tutorial, and reference for Servlets Review: This book is great. I picked it up when it first came out. It helped me write Java servlets for one of the state governments. This book does a good job of explaining how "sessions" - introduced in Servlets 2.0 API - work. If you want a good book on servlets, this is it.
Rating: Summary: The best Servlet Book available today Review: This was the first book on Servlets I bought for reference. I found this book great but I wanted more information on servlets. So I bought some more books from Amazon. None of them came close to the depth of content and the quality of examples presented in this book. If you are a java developer wanting to have just one reference (and THE reference) then this book is for you. Look no further!
Rating: Summary: Good subject, not so good book Review: 'Java, Servlet Programming' is too scattered and not low-level enough. There is just not enough information in this book -- too much cookbook stuff. Lots of code with no explaination of what's going on.
Rating: Summary: good reference for java servlet programming Review: This book has given me good foundation concerning servlet programming. It has all the information needed to write servlets.
Rating: Summary: Easy Reading / Good Content Review: When my co-workers borrow this book from me, they decide they need to buy their own copy. Everyone has praised the style in which this book has been written. Good examples. Good depth. Right speed.
