Rating: Summary: A must have for any webmaster. Review: I have been making websites for many years and I always end up looking up HTML code I forgot. I decided to get a book on it for quick reference. This book not only served as a quick reference it taught me some new pointers as well. I got my book used for $7.00 and it was the best seven dollars I have ever spent.
Rating: Summary: 0 to 60.... Review: I just finished working through this book, which took me from no knowledge to effecient web site building in no time. Do not think publishing in 2000 dates this book as old for learning HTML: the topics covered were advanced and forward thinking enough that they are still not completely supported by all browsers. It is an excellent leap into web site design.
Rating: Summary: Great refresher book Review: I learned HTML about 2 years ago from various sources. I was looking through this book and bought it on the spot!! It is very straightforward and each chapter builds on what you learned from the previous. I'm on Chapter 7 and can't wait until I get to the frames chapter to fully understand what they can do!
Rating: Summary: Great for artists Review: I love this book! Even though I'm an HTML wiz, there are still things I didn't know that I got from the book. That even includes the code I've been wanting for years called jump linking. Now that I have this book I can dazzle people with my amazing petpages. Yep, I'm from neopets! Anyway, a great five-star book. ;)
Rating: Summary: Dave's book opened up new possibilities for me! Review: I loved Dave Taylor's book, "Creating COOL Html 4 Web Pages"!I had absolutely no clue about making web pages but looking at different types inspired me to start making a website. Page builders were just not my style, so I went and ordered Dave's book. It was incredible! Books with nothing confusing in it just like this one really impress me. I started reading a couple pages and was already hooked into it! I was creating web pages in no time, this book inspired me to try out new things with web pages. In my opinion, this book taught me all HTML in a nutshell.
Rating: Summary: From a Beginner's Point of View Review: I read this book to learn how to write HTML. It was easy to read and fun. The CD that came with it, showed examples in the book which were very useful. The book progressed step by step in a friendly way. I created my own website using examples and suggestions from this great book/CD combination. Way to go Dave Taylor.
Rating: Summary: You don't have to be a rocket scientist... Review: I remember when I started to learn how to write Web pages. It was a nightmare, with precious little documentation. Now we have a plethora of books and reference works, but let's face it, almost all of them are written by people who know how to program but can't communicate their way out of a paper bag. :-) That's why I wrote the original Creating Cool Web Pages back in 1995, and have since revised it for HTML 3.2, and now again for HTML 4.0. It's been featured in computer book clubs, translated into a half-dozen different languages, and received sterling reviews ever since. Most importantly, however, some of the best Web site designers - people just like you and me - acknowledge this book as the one that really got them started online.
Rating: Summary: Where It All Begins Review: I started learning to build web pages with this book and have sinced moved into state-of-the-art WYSIWGs but - I still use html every day. You can design and construct without knowing html but it sure makes learning and understanding a much smoother and easier process. 'Creating Cool HTML 4' is without a doubt the best resource I have on my shelf. It's easy to follow, moves you smoothly through the basics to the higher planes, and covers html thoroughly. And! it's a lot cheaper than Dreamweaver.
Rating: Summary: An excellent read with very clear explanations Review: I would just like to say that I was most interested to read this book and would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations on how good it is. I am currently a contractor at BBC Television Centre in London and bought the book as a reference tool for my own company (Miltentech Limited).
Rating: Summary: this is an excellent book to start learning HTML Review: I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to start designing webpages. It starts from the basics & explains everything in understandable terms. I now feel I have a pretty good understanding of how to put up a working webpage. As a matter of fact, I have created three. All from reading "Creating Cool Webpages"
