Summary: This book flows very well and logically.
Review: I've read a lot of IT books ranging from MCSE, HP OpenView, and Cisco Press, and Unix. After reading only five chapters I was extremely impressed with the logical flow of this book. If you're a beginner or intermidiate Unix administrator/user this book will fill in a lot of holes other books just leave wide open. While it doesn't answer every question it does cover topics enough to give you an idea how to use the tools and an idea of the power waiting to be utilized if you become creative. I also recommend a lot of hands on experience to solidify what you read/learn. After reading this book you should be able to work on any version of Unix confidently. While file locations and platform specific differences will slow you down for a short amount of time. Managing the box should be doable while you learn the differences.

Summary: Get the Braille version...
Review: If you are an experienced sysad, this is a good, quick read to prepare for the 3h-002 test. It is well organized, and helps to focus on testable material. One caveat, though, is that the Braille version might be better, because it looks as if a blind man proof-read the print version. Thankfully, the errors are laughably obvious, and actually add an entertainment value to the book.

Summary: Errors in the book????
Review: Someone mentioned on this "review page' that this book contains errors, but the corrections can be found somewhere on the HP web-site. Does anyone know the web address of the corrections?

Summary: A great book - but be careful.
Review: The book is very well organized. It contains three sections just like the exam. I read this book twice over a period of a month and passed the exam. I have been an HPUX admin for about 3 1/2 years but have not had experience with some of the things I learned in this book. The material is very well organized. The only caution is that there are quite a few errors in the book; mostly in the practice tests at the end of each chapter. I did find a document on the us-support.external.hp.com website that makes a first pass at corrections. I found it by searching for "HP Certified" on the main page search button. Really, this is a good book and it covered 90% of the material on the exam, just be careful and check the corrections if you are not sure.

Summary: Passed my HP-UX certification today!
Review: This book is a good source for exam prep, and to refresh a bit. Very good explanations, and questions. I passed the exam no problems, and did not use a manual at all - experience and this book is a winner.

Summary: HP Certified: HP-UX System Administration
Review: This book is chalked full of errors and omissions. For example in the back of the book there are test questions with the correct answers, but some of the answers are NOT CORRECT. There are many more like that throughout the book. This book is not recommended for the novice, you have to know something about HP-UX in order to read this book. I took the HP-UX Certification test and some of the questions on that test are not remotely close to what his "Test your Knowledge" questions at the end of the chapters, which are suppose to help when taking the exam. Overall the book is just okay, not great by any means. I did like the Network Administration part of the book, a little bit. What helped me with this book, is my background in Unix, because the practice test did not help with the exam. You will definetly have to rely on your Unix experience when taking the test, because the book DOESN'T cover everything that's on the test. This is the book that HP recommends so whether it has errors and omissions or not, I had to go by what he says in the book. Let me end this review by saying, Watch Out!

Summary: You will not pass the HP0-002 Exam with this alone.
Review: This book is sort of outdated for the material that is being presented on the exam. The questions that are presented in this book are really simple compared to the ones that appear on the actual exam. This book was perfect for these years 2000-2, but the content needs to be updated, and revised for the year of 2003 and the new exam number HP0-002.In my estimation it very hard now to pass this exam(HP0-002) with this book alone.

Summary: Enough to get you pass the exam!
Review: This book is well organized and just enough to get you pass the 3H0-002 exams.
Make sure you cover all the topics in the book before going for the exam.
