Summary: Minasi is to NT.. what a corkscrew is to a bottle of Chablis
Review: Mark's books are the very best on NT; don't tackle the subject without one. Take an NT course, and it's Minasi's books they'll hold up. They continue to be very well written, well indexed, and full of practical knowledge you'll value time and again in the course of your work.

Thanks Mark; you've taught the subject well.

Summary: Great Book, but the CD ...
Review: I really like this book, it's five stars all the way, but I had to knock a star off because the CD annoyed me. The CD has the entire book on it in PDF format and I thought -- great, I can leave the book at home for heavy reading and take the CD to work and look things up as needed. So one day I had something I needed to do and I figured I would just print off the 3 or 4 pages with the information I needed but -- the print icon in Adobe Reader was grayed out. So was the print command under the file menu. Oh, that's great. Thanks, Mark. Do you really think somebody is going to print all 1500 pages of this book and sell it at a discount? Quit being so paranoid. That said, it's still an excellent book :)

Summary: NT Book on STEROIDS!!
Review: This is an excellent form of reference for a great operating system. If you can nut it up and read this entire book and truly digest all of the information, then you will become an NT GOD. Heck, even if you remember a quarter of all the information, you'll be an NT GOD. My current job requires knowledge of NT Server, but I don't need to be an MCSE. For me, it's like killing a mosquito with a cannon, but I'm a junkie when it comes to thirsting for IT knowledge. I can't get enough! Whether it's how to create a transparent background in Photoshop, learning a new Mac OS shortcut, or learning Win NT 4, I love it all!!!

Summary: this 7th edition is the nt bible
Review: without question a must have for an nt admin. only one problem with the book-the weight.

Summary: Mastering is mastery!
Review: This is a must have for all NT administrators. This book has saved my hide many times.

Summary: The Best NT4 Book Available
Review: This is the best general purpose NT book that I've read--and I've read a lot of them. It does an excellent job of explaining all aspects of NT (installation, domain management, WINS, DNS, IIS4, DHCP, profiles, etc.) It also explains TCP/IP very well. In addition to giving 'cookbook' solutions, Minasi also explains what is going on so you can think through a problem on your own. For example, he gives a very lucid explanation of how browser lists are created and refreshed. He also provides instructions for a host of tasks commonly faced by a sysadmin--e.g. I needed to move DHCP services from one machine to another without loosing leases, Minasi's solution worked great! This book has saved me an enormous amount of time and frustration.

Summary: An NT Server Administrator's Crystal Ball
Review: If you are curently administering a Windows NT 4.0 server and do not own this book, GET IT NOW. If you are studying for your MCSE or an MCP in NT Server 4.0, wait until you pass your exams and become and administrator, then BUY THIS BOOK.

Whenever I need any information, this book provides me the answer. I truly could not give this book more praise. It is an excellent resource. It does not skimp on information in order to save pages. It gives it all, and the book is rather large, so you do not need to worry too much about topic coverage. This book has never failed me, and I can promise you that it will help you in your administrative efforts.

Summary: A pleasure to read......
Review: Almost all of the tech. books that have come across have the same flaw.... The books just throw at you terms that you don't understand ( thats why you bought the book in the first place ) and assume you know them.... This book ( althought very big ) is an easy read... written from the perspective that the reader is not technically inclinded.... It covers each subject throughly and clearly.... No doubt about it, if you want to get certified or learn more about NT this is the book for you... Its also great reference. The book really has the title it should have MASTERING NT SERVER. Thats what it is. Oh and by the way it's all of server, Server 4.0 test and Enterprise test for just 50 bucks =)...

Summary: Good for Beginners and MCSE Candidate
Review: This book gave very well understanding of how NT works and the criteria to administer and maintaining the network in a proper well manner way. There's jokes between passages and makes me feel not sleepy. I'm not taking any MCSE / MCP exam but helps me to smoothen my job.
