Summary: Save your money...
Review: As a current MCSE+I, MCSD, MCT I recommend that anyone seeking Microsoft certification not spend countless time on reading books. Time is better spent on actually using the products.

For additional information there are free sources on the internet such as discussion groups and usenet.

If you are new to certification the better way may be to take an actual beta exam as they are only $50. Who knows, you may get lucky and actually pass...

Summary: Excellent !!!
Review: This is the best book in the market. It is so great that all of my students, co-workers love it so much and I have learned a great deal from it...until this day.

The writing style is down-to-earth, and it is written so that it would be so easy to understand, and to laugh with the author sense of humor. The knowledge of the author is so huge, un-questionable that I don't know if he was part of the NT 4.0 develeper team.

Summary: Worth the Price.
Review: Used this book to help study for the NT SERVER Exam, and passed with a 725. Also very good even after I passed the test, always using it to find out how to try something on both server and workstation.

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: I am a teacher and I double as an NT administrator for a network of about 200 laptops and 3 NT servers. This book gives detailed answers about a huge range of NT questions. It covers things such as installing NT, moving my DHCP services to a different box, configuring NT to support Mac clients, working with IIS, RAS, etc. If you support a network with NT this is $50 well spent. Subjects such as DHCP and Mac support which only had a couple of pages in other books are explained in detail in this one. While no book covers every topic, I think I'll reach for this one more than any other.

Summary: This book is great
Review: After reading this book I feel that I have firm grasp of what NT 4 is all about. This is not an exam cram book and is not the book for you if all you want is to pass the exam. This is the book that take with me at all times to use as a refference guide. I can not use enough supperlatives to discribes Marks writing style. I am so impressed with this book that whenever I need to buy a reference book I will see if Mark has written one first

Summary: I've only just begun... this is going to be a great tool!!
Review: I've recently inherited the responsibility of running our companies NT Server. The basics are easy enough to pick up but when I get into deeper issues I'm more comfortable with some reference materials and real world experience to lean on. I've only had this book for 3 days and already it has helped me resolve a number of issues. It reads smoothly with a good balance of visuals. You can crack it open at any page and glean useful information. This is one book I have bought that is going to be well used.... Thanks to Mark Minasi for writting it and Thanks to Amazon.com for making it so easy to find and buy.

Summary: Decent reference - shy in some areas but worth buying
Review: I'm an active MCT and am very familiar with the material that Mark is covering in this book. So . . .

This book is a valuable reference tool for two reasons. First, it is a good review (or introduction for some of you)of most of the topics that an NT LAN administrator would like to cover. It goes beyone the MOC material in numerous areas, i.e. it adds value to the course material. It contains tips and techniques, etc. that make it a handy tool on a daily basis. Having said this, much of the material is another regurtitation of the same information that has been floating around for a while without any value added. I'm sure Mark could add more, but there is that old tradeoff between information and size. It would be nice to have a book that says "Here is the brief refresher of the material and now let's talk about the installation gotchas, bug fixes, work arounds, etc.". This would be great for folks that already know the basics.

The writing style is a little too homey for my taste (I like very technical, to the point writing).

I was a little disappointed at the lack of coverage in some areas. For example, the book never mentions UDFs in unattended installation. But I know where else to go for the deficient areas. I would not expect this book to cover all material in all depth. The 922 Student CD has a 120+ page document just on Unattended Installations. I have a 300+ page book by Masterson, Knief, et. al. on DNS and related services and have ordered Doug Comer's TCP/IP Volume 1. Microsoft's web site has numerous articles to supplement the material. In other words, if you want depth in a specific aspect of Windows NT, buy a book that focuses on that topic. No one is going to write a 20,000 page book to cover all your needs! With that in mind, buy Mark's book as a great starter. It definitey won't gather dust on your shelf.

Summary: The Windows NT Bible....
Review: This monster pretty much covers everything you would ever want to know about NT. It is about 1600 pages so each topic is given at least 200 pages meaning that thoroughness is not an issue. Excellent for admins, beginners, intermediates, basically anyone that uses NT in any form can use this book...GET IT!

Summary: This is how it should be done
Review: The best thing about the book is the comprehensive coverage of NT in an extremely easy and readable language. Even my dad understood everything!
