Summary: Just a little adjusting
Review: I do find I have to do a little adjusting with these recipes, largely in part because I live in a high altitude. Very few books give directions for high altitude adjustments, which can be frustrating. Usually, I must cut the yeast and add some liquid.

Her most valuable advise is to check the bread after the first 5-10 minutes of kneading. I've found if I follow that advise, just about everything turns out quite well.

I do substitute whole white what flour for 1/3 bread flour in several of her recipes to make them more nutritious, and find it sacrifices little in taste and texture. We rarely buy store bread any more.

Summary: Best bread machine recipes EVER!
Review: I got this book when I first got a bread machine 9 years ago. It has traveled with me through 4 states and 7 different moves. It has even survived 2 bread machines! LOL Mine is old and tattered and losing pages, so I am finally buying a new bread machine cookbook. Guess what? I'm buying this one again. Every single recipe I have ever tried has just been delicious!!!

Summary: Great book, but be careful of older copies
Review: I have both the original Bread Machine Cookbook and book #2, and the recipes are great, well worth 5 stars. Also the introductions give a lot of useful advise.

IMPORTANT: A word of warning if you buy a used copy. I bought copies of both, in "like new condition," and they arrived as promised, but in using the recipes, I had one failed load after another. By accident, in looking at a my Mom's new books (which do not state they are revised editions), I found that all the recipes I had tried (and nearly all the recipes in both books) now have totally different amounts listed for the ingredients. For example, the Sally Lund bread on page 25 (original book) has the measurements of 7 of the 8 ingredients changed/corrected (the yeast is now doubled, and the flour increased by 1/3). Many recipes in both books have similar major changes. I had to buy new copies, and using the corrected amounts in the new books I then began baking great bread. If you have older copies of either of these books, and are getting disgusting goopy bread, do not automatically think it is the fault of you, your ingredients, or bread machine. Check out a newer book and compare ingredients.

Summary: Tried and True
Review: I have had the Bread Machine Cookbook series for several years now, but always seem to use this one the most. The White Bread and Crusty Cuban Bread recipes are now family favorites. My in-laws are disappointed unless the Crusty Cuban Bread is served when they come to dinner, and I never buy commercial white bread now after tasting the easy and delicious recipe in this book. A friend recently asked me if I had any good bread machine recipes, and rather than copy them all down I'm simply ordering this book for her right now.

Summary: Adjust, Adjust, Adjust
Review: I have tried 10 or so recipes from her book and each one has required extensive adjustment with water or flour to come even close to a decent loaf. The recipes sound great but turn out to be a disappointment. Some of her instructions are vague. A real disappointment. I know it's not me, because other recipes from other books turn out just fine

Summary: Great!
Review: I like the fact that the book is easy to follow with troubleshooting guides, etc., but I especially like that the recipes are adjusted to various loaf sizes....I have a 2 lb bread machine, and a lot of books only give recipes for 1-1 1/2 lb loaves.

Summary: Great Gift
Review: I received this book several years ago as a birthday gift. I am now getting ready to order several as Christmas gifts. I always get compliments from my family and my nieces/nephews on the breads I have made from recipes with this book. The recipes are much better/tastier than the ones that came with my bread machine. Instructions are clear and the book is easy to use. I also like the reasonable price.

I would say any person that is having trouble with the recipes has not read the basic section on how to measure ingrediants. You must never scoop or pack your flour and that is covered in the first section of the book. This would apply to any bread book that you purchased.

Our favorite recipe is the Cream of Wheat bread. I get requests for it often. My 2 yr old and 4 yr old are always asking for "cutting bread". They can eat the whole loaf in one sitting!

Summary: The One I Hate to Misplace
Review: I recently misplaced my copy of this bread machine cookbook. I went on the internet and went through my large collection of bread machine books (friends in doubt seem to buy me these cookbooks) to obtain a good recipe for sandwich rolls. I didn't find a recipe that measured up. Invaluable book which I rushed out to replace. It also is the one I always buy for friends when they get a bread machine. None of the other cookbooks come close.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I recently upgraded my old National bread machine to a state-of-the-art Zojurushi and thought I'd reward my myself by purchasing this well-recommnded book.

First, the size: it's *tiny*--more like a field guide. This can be a plus, in some instances, but it sure lacks an air of authority, in this case, and probably won't wear well. On the other hand, the typeface is clear and bold, which is useful. All recipes are presented in three columns for "small," "medium," and "large" loaf sizes. Recipes do not include ingredient weights, which are essential (especially for flour), as any proper baker knows. This lack undoubtedly contributed to the problems I (and other reviewers) had obtaining consistent results from this book. There are quite a number of jarring typos (e.g., "broiche") which also undercut the book's credibility.

I tried several of the recipes at various loaf sizes. Most recipes required adjustment of liquid or dry ingredients, not such a big deal. But, the results were generally insipid, to my taste buds.

There are certainly better books out there, or better yet, check out some of the websites that are proliferating for this genre.

All in all, not a cookbook I'd reach for again.

Summary: Great Book
Review: I say this is a great book with wonderful recipes. I couldn't give it 5 stars, because some of the recipes sometimes don't work out just right. But I like the explanations for each recipe.
