Rating: Summary: the most gorgeous of God's creation Review: A beautiful woman is God's ultimate creation and gift to mankind. Laetitia Casta stands above as the most gorgeous female of her generation. Only Raquel Welch of the last generation or Sofia Loren of the generation before that can challenge Laetitia as the most gorgeous woman since the invention of the photograph. I am not interested in Laetitia's inner beauty or her mind. I admire her for the work of art that she is. With the help of make-up artists and photographers, this book presents to us the ultimate beauty. Laetitia's physical beauty surpasses the art of a Rembrant, the music of Wagner, the poetry of Dante, or the sculpture of Michael Angelo.

Rating: Summary: A perfect trade for that vintage Uncle Wiggle board game Review: Anyone who expects more of Laetitia after reading (or leafing) through this book better get in touch with her father and mother first. Every point that this girl shines from is in there. My only regret is that the book fails to contain those cologne strips like the magazines that brought her to us in the first place. Salut!
Rating: Summary: A Light Pictoral Biography of a Super Model Review: Before describing the book, let me mention that it contains much female nudity of the sort that would earn this material an "R" rating if it were a motion picture. Ms. Casta's success is without question. She has been featured in many of the top marketing campaigns, appeared in a movie, and graced many magazine covers. Only 22 as I write this review, this book is based totally on material done before she was 21. Her career started at 15. The book contains many family color snapshots from her youth in rural Normandy, as well as vacations in Corsica. She was discovered by model agency talent scouts on a Corsican beach at 15. The book goes on to show highlights of the photographs from her early modeling career, as well as the famous appearances she has made in various advertising campaigns, magazine pictorals (including 3 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues), the movie, and her controversial cover for Rolling Stone in 1998. These sections also include nude layouts that she says that she would not repeat in the future. "I have never regretted posing nude . . . . I don't like the chaos that is triggered by it." The images are interspaced with brief essays about her life, what people have to say about her, and her own thoughts. Her appeal is unusual in this age of tall, willowy, wan, and almost anorexic models. She looks like a healthy young woman who eats normal meals and exercises. Physically, she has the torso of Sophia Loren and a classic Italian face. If I were asked to grade this young woman's beauty, I would have no trouble agreeing that she easily deserves five stars. Why, then, did I grade the book at three stars? First, the images chosen heavily favor her sexuality in almost leering poses at the expense of her beautiful face and shoulders. The result is an imbalance in projecting her appeal. This material sometimes borders on being exploitive. Second, many of the best photographs of her (usually pn magazine covers) are reproduced in tiny sizes, while many of the least good images are reproduced in very large sizes. Third, Ms. Casta has not generally enjoyed the quality of photography that she deserves. Although there are good images here, many of the top contemporary photographers have done no or little work with her through the time this book was produced. Here are my favorite photographs in the book: Dominique Issermann for Sports Illustrated, 1999 Dominique Issermann for Victoria's Secret, 1999 (first image in the book) Herb Ritts for Rolling Stone, 1998 Herb Ritts for American Vogue, 1995 Freidmann Hauss for French Elle, 1998 Hans Feurer, 1998 (second image in the book) Lothar Schmid for French Elle, 1997 (second image in the book) Patrick Demarchelier, 1998 (both) After enjoying this book I suggest you think about how the way you hold yourself in public may influence the way people react to you. How could you use your expressions and gestures to represent the internal you more honestly and effectively? How could you do this the most easily and naturally? According to the text, "Laetitia" means "joy" in Latin. May this book bring much joy to you!
Rating: Summary: An excellent summary of a beautiful woman, Review: but a summary none the less. This book not in any way disappoints me, it's put together very artistically and does have many photos that I've never seen. If you are a fan of Laetitia's beauty and personality, then this is the book for you. I think of myself more as a "long-time" fan and was thinking the book would offer a little more insight into her life and career. Don't get me wrong, this is a stunning book, and my girlfriend can even appreciate it too. Go buy this book if you're a fan, because you owe it to yourself...and Laetitia!

Rating: Summary: somewhat disappointing Review: i find it somewhat disappointing that the whole book is a mere collection of casta's previous works. needless to say, the 4-stars represent the attractiveness of casta.
