Rating: Summary: No clear thinking Review: Mr Hanritty is so wrapped up in the sound of his own drum beating in his head that he fails to make any logical argument. His diatribes against the Left lack consistency and evidence. I was looking for cogent dialogue, but found none here.
Rating: Summary: blah blah blah Review: If you're going to waste your time reading non-sensical conservative rhetoric, you might as well read Limbaugh. Hannity may be the next big thing in the conservative media but his ideas seem toe the Republican line very neatly, with no new insights. The book basically amounts to "Conservative Good, Liberal Bad" in keeping with the simplistic views of the president. Maybe a book written by a conservative who's not a right-wing nut would be worth reading but this is not it. Very poor!
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time reading the reviews!!! Review: Like most of the "reviews" for this book, this isn't a review. Most of the reviews for this book are worthless, because they simply state either A) This book is well written, blah blah (Meaning, I agree with what it says because I'm a Conservative) OR B) This book is poorly written blah blah (Meaning, I disagree with what it says because I'm leftist) This phenomina seems to be particularly common for liberals who CLAIM to buy conservative books, then go online and bash them and give them 1 stars. Most of the 1 and 2 star reviews barely even talk about the book. They simply state the reviewer's prexisting prejudices against conservatives and conservatism (ie. conservatives want to take money from the poor and give to the rich, oppress minorities, kill women, pollute the air and water, squash freedom, torture cute little puppies for fun, and eat cute little kittens for dinner). Overall, it's rather pathetic and an abuse of the Review system. This book is OBVIOUSLY Conservative, one-sided, (probably) well-written, anti-leftist, and highly opinionated. You don't even need to open the cover to figure this out.
Rating: Summary: This is intelligent political discourse? Review: Pigeon-holing everyone as either 'liberal' or 'conservative' when most people are neither -- most fall somewhere in the middle -- is just plain, well ... is it okay to use the word 'stupid'? This book also questions the patriotism of liberals, a ridiculous tool used by the extreme Right nowadays. This tome is full of hero-worshiping and offers no concrete analysis of the problems we face today. And if you're looking for ideas...well...just forget it, they're not here. What I want to know is where's the War on Terrorism? What's all this hullabaloo about Iraq? Is that part of the War on Terror? Where's the connection between Iraq & terror - the smoking gun? Why aren't we going after Saudi Arabia when most of the 9/11 hijackers were from there? (The answer to that last one is obvious.) If you've ever been to Saudi Arabia, as I have, you'd know that they -- the Saudi citizens -- don't just dislike us, they HATE us with every fiber in their being, and it's getting worse. That hatred spills over into the Saudi government, but the government has very effective PR folks in this country trying to convince us that they're our ally. Sean sure abides by the Republican 11th Commandment - 'Never criticize another Republican'...
Rating: Summary: You know you've hit a nerve . . . Review: . . . when the know-nothing Left goes into apoplexy. Hannity has written a perfectly reasonable book, nothing like the inept yet vicious screeds coming from the likes of Michael Moore and James Carville, nothing like the pouty kiss-and-tell fake insider look at Washington by David "Judas" Brock. Yet the only criticism the Left can mount is ad hominem attacks. Memo to dyed-in-the-wool liberals: Get a plan, or find yourselves on the dust-heap of history.
Rating: Summary: this "writer" sleeps well at night? Review: I made it through this screed despite my increasing nausea. If this guy wasn't so popular, he would be laughable. Scary hateful, divisive stuff on every page. And my fellow Americans love him for it? Since when an insult the equivalent of political thought? zero stars for an unelightened talking head.
Rating: Summary: telling it like it is Review: Red--that is, Bush--America has no more passionate spokesperson than Sean Hannity. He speaks for the values that still mean something to most of this country--faith, family, and freedom. He sees clearly through the relativistic mish-mash of modern times and pulls no punches. No, his ideas aren't extraordinarily complex; Hannity is no philosopher. But that's the point. Conservatism, as understood by regular people, is a simple thing, recognizing the simple truths of reality and existence--only to seem them obscured and distorted and even destroyed by the Left and, sometimes, too, by Republicans. The book reads easily and is part chronicle of his encounters with liberals, part exposition of his beliefs. It covers the gamut of today's issues: immigration, education, the environment, national defense, taxes, the media. He paints an accurate picture of the American left as mostly hypocritical, morally blind "Kool-Aid drinkers," whose ideas are dangerous and threatening to all that the country has held dear for over two hundred years. He tenaciously defends what he believes and does not fear admitting his faith in God and the role that his Christian beliefs play in his life. "Let Freedom Ring" is an admirable defense of conservative values and moral clarity. It will no doubt make some people uncomfortable and offend many others--but that's because it rings with such truth.
Rating: Summary: Unthinking sycophants, come on in! Review: Hannity is just like Coulter and Limbaugh...he brings nothing to the table except a hatred of the other side. It's impossible to take this guy seriously.
Rating: Summary: How it's been done so far Review: Another excellent book showing how and why Conservatives have grown in power over the last 20+ years and why they'll continue to do so. While I don't totally agree with his religous views, Sean is right on target with his political analysis.
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down book Review: Enjoyed the book. Read it in just a few days in that it was hard to put down. For a no nonsense look at America, this is a must read.
